InvaderShy 18 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 Each of us know that ponies have an exemplary society and an appeased lifestyle, but that doesn't mean they don't have flaws at all. So, I invite you to mention Equestrian society's defects from your points of view. If you want complementing your opinion quoting some episodes, you're completely free to do it. Scootalove 10,689 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 The defects of Equestrian society would be going out of their normal personality boundaries and do what the Mane 6 did in their episodes when each of them are the opposite of who they are. Probably no more allegiance from the citizens to Celestia, try to overthrow them, and can't trust one another. They would lose themselves in who they are, to be the exact opposite of their personality in what makes their character. October Days 4 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 As a society? I'd say there's at least a bit of xenophobia (ie Zecora). And not sure if this counts as a societal thing, but they seem prone to nervous breakdowns.
GenderIsAnIllusion 2,177 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 Id imagine (if it wasn't a world made to be viewed by children) that the same social defects would exist in equestria. Drugs, Alcohol, violence Ext.... But since that's not the case id have to say bullying, theft, and the occasional deranged psychopath that threatens to take over equestria, and bring it to turmoil..... My peep is against bullying.... Are you? http://mlpforums.com/topic/117034-suggestion-anti-bullying-campaign/
Shanks 10,816 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 Racism: We clearly saw this in Bridle Gossip when nearly everypony was so afraid of Zecora that these urban legends about her gobbling up ponies into stus popped up. We also saw thin on both sides in Over A Barrel and a more subtle example of this when Rarity and Pinkie Pie kept calling Iron Will a "monster" in Putting Your Hoof Down. Bullying: There are multiple examples of bullying throughout the series and we will probably see more of them as it goes on. We saw flashbacks of Fluttershy getting bullied, the CMC get bullied by Bab's Seed and Fluttershy resort to bullying in Putting Your Hoof Down. I am sure there are a few more but those are the main 2 that come to mind. Rarity Get's Cockroaches

And expanding on the Racism theme: Id have to say Speciesism, because its not like our world wheres theres 1 definitive species that's completely in control... Its much more complicated. There are several races that co-exist on the same level of worldly control. So the discrimination would be much MUCH more of a problem in their world. My peep is against bullying.... Stancet 689 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 As I've understood it, the social problems really depend on where you live. Ponyville is one of the nicest and friendliest places to live. Appleloosa had the typical western problem of stealing land from the natives and wondering why they became angry. Canterlot is full of stuck-up snobs who believe they're better than everypony else. Honestly, Equestria is an amazing society for having a benevolent princess who managed to stay benevolent for over a thousand years. But, if Celestia disappeared suddenly you could guarantee society would crumble faster than any empire in history. Geez... I don't even want to pretend like it could happen. MichaelxXxTrixie 433 August 29, 2013 Share August 29, 2013 We have the conflicts in species and bullying of-course but really there is not to much at-flaw, in the end everything works out in Pony Society generally. You could say the monarchy of sorts is a flaw but it seems our Immortal Goddess Celestia is making all the right decisions, she is a fair and wise ruler. And we have good rulers over smaller areas of land which are princesses like Cadence and maybe Twilight Sparkle in the future, they are loyal to Celestia also. They are also good and fair rulers from what we know. Sure you could screw up the system if you get the wrong people into it, but the truth is Ponies generally are mostly good and when they screw up they have wise rulers to tell them whats right and wrong. So pony society is good, not really too much defects. Thanks to the lovely Pink Mist for the magnificent signature!
