Warfare portrayed in MLP

Mind me if the topic has little relevance to MLP. Expect a lot of ranting.

So, to be honest, I don't like how the majority of people are portraying war in MLP. Though I have nothing against it being in MLP, most of the time war is mentioned in MLP fanon I just find it...tasteless.

The first thing is that the whole idea is generally overused. A war against changelings, a war against griffins, a war against whatever it is. And no matter what, the ponies are ALWAYS the good ones. You would except at least some of them to break the laws of war, desert their post, steal, or even murdering civilians and soldiers. And it's also not like the other side, the enemy side, would be lifeless minions. You'll expect them to at least live some normal life before the conflict. Real war isn't black and white. No one is purely the big bad ones.

Now I'm fine with the topic being overused, since I read some myself. But the second thing: the conflict is utter crap. Where are the severe casualties on both sides? Where are the destructive results? It's not real at all. If you want to write a war fic, at least respect it by showing it in realistic light and act like their humans that dies for their country.

And what's the cause? All I see is the enemy attacking the ponies for no reason. It's like showing them that they are immoral freaks. Even the lowliest of them all in the WWII invaded other countries because they wanted to allow the other countries to develop their personal superior race.

For short: If you want to portray war in MLP, make it real, or don't write one at all.

Well, all I can say is this. If you don't like it, don't read it. Who are you to decide what others are allowed to write about in their stories?

I'm not deciding for anyone to do anything, it's just that I think it's not really creative. But that's just my opinion, like how you have yours.
