Thanks a ton! I'll make sure to get some more shots of the back of the car, too, since I didn't take too many good backshots at Rockingham. Guess I could go back to the replay file and get some shots of it later, but ah well. And yes, the OCs on the back make the car 20% cooler (hate that joke, but it fits here). True, but I think I'll have a really good shot at Atlanta. I know I've said it once before, but it bears repeating. It's one of my favorite tracks!

 

It's almost the same size as Charlotte.

 

The thing I don't like about Atlanta is that you'll always have to be drafting somebody in a corner to avoid slowing too much.

Atlanta and Charlotte have two completely different feels to them. With Atlanta, you have to be really careful as to not burn up the tires, and tire conservation is even bigger at Charlotte due to the fact that the turns are a lot sharper. At Atlanta, you can run a lot faster, and therefore, you have to rely on the draft a lot in the straightaways. Do you do iRacing as well? Edited October 1, 2013 by Ragin' Red Talon

Track Overview

Atlanta Motor Speedway, a large, sweeping D shaped oval that is 1.5 miles in length, is the site of the Hazard County Rally 80. The front straightaway is unique in shape, with two "dogleg" turns correcting slightly to the left, a characteristic seen at Texas Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. It is one of the fastest tracks on the circuit, with speeds averaging around the 175 MPH mark. Drivers here will need to employ a line that does not eat the tires up quickly, as well as a line that does not lose the driver too much ground. Races likes these are generally more spread out, with some drivers pulling away and leaving the others in their dust.

 

Track History

Located in Hampton, Georgia, Atlanta Motor Speedway was originally a standard oval, lacking the doglegs seen nowadays. In 1997, the track was converted completely, swapping the front and back straightaways, and adding the signature dogleg turns on the new front straightaway. The result was an all new racetrack that distinguished itself from the other quad ovals on the NASCAR circuit with its sweeping turns that don't require braking, unlike the other quads.

 

Fun fact: former president Jimmy Carter used to work the ticket booth at the track!

 

Danger Zones

The front straightaway is the most dangerous part of the quad ovals, as the doglegs get very tight, and can squeeze a driver into the wall if he tries to make it two abreast. Three abreast? Now you're asking for trouble! With the tightness of the doglegs, expect to see some ballsy drivers make their moves, as well as brainless drivers wrecking here after divebombing a two abreast formation.

If I can, I'll try to slide on your OC, as well as bronyultimate's OC. No promises, but maybe I could scale down some of the OCs on the hood, or possibly add another on the rear bumper! After that, however, I won't be able to accept any more OCs. After the season ends, though, I'll see who wants to keep their spot on the car, or possibly alternate between two schemes with completely different OCs on each of them! There are only 2 races left, so if I don't win one this season, I'll hopefully win one next season!

Well if you can edit the car or anything, someone finally made me the vector of my OC that I wanted. You can choose which pose you like better for the car, the one I gave you previously or this one.

 

But if it's too much of a bother to change it just leave her the way she is on the car

Most don't really care, actually. We did have a really funny conversation about it during warmup in last week's West Pro Series, though.

Unfortunately, due to an issue I had with my editing software, I couldn't get the lap around video out.

But I'll get one out next week for Charlotte! And also, the NoBull Network won't be broadcasting any races for the Grand National series next season. Therefore, next season, David or I will continue to post writeups for the races to keep you guys informed!

Dear Princess Celestia,

Today I learned a valuable lesson out on the racetrack about friendship and what it means to be on a team. Wheeling a high performance stock car and leading the pack is a thrill, but with such high speeds come high stakes, and I learned that the hard way on the track. I was excited for a really good finish tonight, but some bad luck put me far behind. However, I never failed to remember that I have my team there for me. Sure, it was a rough night for us all, but we're a team, a family. Joined by our love of NASCAR. Nothing always goes our way, but it's also very important to remember that it's what's up front that count, not what's in your rearview mirror. Unless the thing in the rearview mirror is the 92 car breathing down my bumper. At the end of the day, however, the power of friendship makes our team inseparable. After all, it isn't always just getting to the finish line, but how you get there.

Close, but no. I wrecked under caution and had to drive a car 2 seconds off pace. lol. At least Charlotte is next week. Just gotta put it behind me, I guess.
