Side Bird 566 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 I have just two questions about BronyCon. I tried looking them up, but I didn't really get anything. Now...Do you have to be a certain age to go to bronycon? Or are all ages accepted? And if you're under 16, do you have to attend with an adult? Or can you go alone? 1 Don't be a dweeb ~Gilda
PlunderSteed 1,252 September 30, 2013 Share September 30, 2013 Your best bet is to review the policies for the specific convention you're thinking of attending. Bronycon 2014 (in Baltimore, presumably) does not yet have its site updated to reflect its policies. Traditionally, all ages have been welcome. However, certain events have been 21+, such as the Thursday Night Bar Trot (fucking amazing, if I may say so). At the end of this year's convention, I spoke with some members of the staff and we kicked around the idea of having 18+ events, such as a more edgy style of music/dress after midnight at the concert. The liability issues are the primary concern, but the logic of it seems sounds. Because seriously...anybody who brings a 17 year old kid to a 10,000 person concert (and lets them roam around past midnight) clearly has confidence that their kid's fragile sensibilities won't be ruined by an F-bomb or nipple here or there. Granted, nobody is trying to make it into an obscene affair, but a huge chunk of the fanbase is 21+ and is not interested in catering to the arbitrary cultural limitations imposed on acceptable recreational activities for minors in the wee hours of the morning. 1 Regards, PlunderSteed Bassist, pianist, and backing vocalist for MLP-themed metal band Draconequus.
