Krein looked up at the monster with the brightest red glow.

"You missed one thing though, monster. I WAS one of them, but as this pegasus said, that is behind me now. I've found forgiveness in Him, and you cannot take that away from me. The future is not set in stone, it is forever a flame of change."

The steaming cracks began to grow ever larger as they began to open wider, revealing hot, bubbling magma underneath.

Enigma just looked at Krein, slack-jawed.

 

"Wow, you really are sensitive, aren't you Krein? I mean seriously, one pony pops up and says 'Oh look at me, I won't bucking die, I'm so cool! Oh, Krein you used to be bad, guess what? That means you're going to be bad again!' and you shut down?"

 

Enigma began to laugh.

 

"Oh this is rich. A fortune teller, stopping a raging, what was it now? An Inpurater? Whatever, a raging pony trained by dragons with a few fancy words. Oh stallion, I can't stop laughing, it's so ridiculous!"

 

Enigma opened his eyes.

 

"Oh wait, you're over it already? Aw stallion, I got to be faster when I come up with my speeches! Why couldn't you be sulking for just a little longer?"

"Hey Enigma, back off. We can discuss this later, but now in the middle of a battle. Get your head in the game!" said Storm as he dodged a few energy blasts from the monster.

Krein looked at Enigma and breathed a stream of fire, making him come out scorched (you know, like when a cartoon character gets burned but just comes out with a bunch of soot).

"Shut up, or you'll go down into these cracks along with him!" he shouted angrily.

"Storm Shock, I need you to distract him for a bit!"

Krein began to muster all his fiery energy towards the cracks in an attempt to swallow the monster in them.

"Hey, I'm sorry you don't approve of my forms of support, but if you had been paying attention, you'd have noticed I was doing something beneficial to our efforts!"

 

Enigma moved his wings, motioning towards his own body.

 

"I'm a phoenix now, phoenixes are cool. I also get a much more talkative and lax attitude when I'm one so sorry if I'm not as logical and cold as I usually am. Right now I'm all about the flare, the flame, catching my hints Krein buddy?"

 

Enigma looked at his team.

 

"Oh right, we're in battle... I'll shut up now..."

"You got it Krein! Hey ugly! I think that you're so ugly that even your own mother wouldn't love you!" Storm taunted as he pulled a few fast mid air maneuvers around the monster's face to make him angry. "What's the matter? Can't catch me? Well you know what that means...it means YOU'RE TOO SLOW!" Just to add insult to injury, Storm flew up, prepped another lightning cloud and loaded up for another Thunder Buck. When his hooves were charged, he flew low and bucked as hard as he could at the monster's groin, bringing him instantly to his knees. "That should give you some time Krein! Make it count!" Krein plunged his horn into the lava vent while the monster was distracted. The crack snaked its way towards the monster as it began to open wider and wider. The creature roared in agony as it began to sink into the magma.

"Enjoy your early stay in hell!" Krein mocked as the monster helplessly splashed around. The alicorn altered the magma's splashing to form giant, claw like hands and used them to submerge the monster completely. A deafening screech was heard as the vents began to close above it.

 

After everything was done with, Krein wearily sat down on the razed ground. He looked towards a small bush, still burning with flames and absorbed them to try and regain his lost energy.

"Thanks Storm Shock..."

"Hey, Krein, need a boost?"

 

Enigma flew straight towards Krein, wings stretched wide, engulfed in large blue flames.

 

"Kreincatchme!"

 

Enigma tucked in his wings and free fell the rest of the way toward his teammate, the flames on his back turning a bright white now.

"No problem, Krein. Out teamwork is getting better and better with each battle. We're pretty much unbeatable! Discord better watch his back! I say this calls for a team brohoof!" Storm said as he extended his hoof. Edited March 17, 2012 by super muffin derpy506

"GET OUT OF MY WAY STORM! I'M ABOUT TO BUCKING EXPLODE!"

 

Enigma was now no more than a few yards away from Krein.

 

"THIS IS TO SAY I'M SORRY FOR BEING A DUMB PHOENIX KREIN, FREE RECHARGE ON THE HOUSE!"

 

(This is relevant to Enigma's character development it's not just something random as much as it may seem)

The flames instantly leapt towards the exhausted alicorn as Enigma flew near him.

"Thanks," he said as he got up. He extended his hoof as well, showing the Imperator's dragon skull insignia.

Enigma's flame put out, he was now just a smoldering bird, his body almost completely burnt into ash. He crashed to the ground in a twitching heap, only to be revived seconds later by the very nature of the phoenix.

 

Focusing once again, Enigma quickly returned to his normal self. He looked at Krein and Storm.

 

"First off let me say that I am sorry for anything I said as a phoenix. I always get a bit... interesting, when I take on that form," Enigma looked at his hooves. "I don't why it happens, but it always has. I get flashy, talkative, wild, reckless, dangerous even. I don't usually turn into a phoenix unless I am fearing for my own life because I can't die when I'm in that form, but every time I do, I end up regretting it... I don't even remember most of what I do as a phoenix. It's like I'm not even in control anymore..."

 

Enigma's voice trailed off as he looked into the distance. He seriously hoped he hadn't done too much damage this time...

"Yikes, give me a bit more warning next time, Enigma!" Storm said as he stuck his wing tips in a cloud to put out the few singed feathers. "Hey don't worry about it, Enigma. Just give us a bit more warning before you do it again so we aren't tempted to smack you upside the head when you say something stupid." Storm said with a grin. "Ok then, I say we do that brohoof, then we proceed with our mission. We got nothing out of that monster, but we still have the info we got when we started our mission. And remember, no matter what happens, we'll always have each others' backs. We share a bond of friendship now and friendship isn't an easy thing to break." "Crap, how many fires did I start this time?" Enigma asked, looking at Storms slightly signed wings.

Krein nodded.

"Don't worry about it Enigma."

He looked around at the area, still smoldering with heat. He absorbed it, putting out any remaining fires and cooling the area down.

"Yeah, lets," he said as he stuck out his marked hoof one more time.

Storm stuck his hoof out as well. "Alright you guys! Discord won't know what hit him! Let's save the world and put Discord back in his stone prison with a good hoof print marking his scaly and furry backside!"

Snow hadn't-again-fought. She was too worried by now. The rage inside had subsided some, but the voices were worse now. She could hear indistinct whispering, and it was starting to get to her.

She felt the blast of heat from Krein as he split open the ground but instead of moving she formed an ice bubble around her body. The intense heat melted her weak effort and Snow started to feel woozy. She tried again. It failed.

If she didn't hurry, she was going to faint.

Unlock your true self, "Snowfell," a voice mocked.

There was no help for it. Snow closed her eyes and focused. She felt her body morph slightly, her eyes changing colour.

Suddenly, there was a loud crack, and a pillar of ice rose in front of her at least 20 feet into the air. Similar ones formed a circle around her, a huge dome-like structure of ice that radiated freezing temperatures. The pillars kept rising, and the circle began to widen. If she didn't stop now it would encompass the entire village, and everypony else would freeze to death almost instantly.

The voices had won. They now flooded her mind with jubilant laughter. If she didn't stop now, every survivor would die.

Enigma noticed a sudden change in temperature.

 

"What's going on?" he asked Krein and Storm. "Is this another one of Discord's tricks?"

(I know. After I wrote that I was like *facedesk*. But I guess for her it's a physical thing? XD I just needed people to know that her eyes change colour XD)

 

Snow was trying to stop but she couldn't. She trashed wildly, trying to break the voices grip, and the dome grew ever larger and higher.

Stop it! Stop it! she yelled at the voices, but they just laughed.

Kill them! Kill them all!

Krein shivered as the pillars began to rise. He flew away from them and cssted mage armor and a fiery aura over himself and everypony. The temperature was dropping by the minute.

"Looks like I've got to do this again...." he said remorsefully as he flew to a couple of trees and lit them on fire. He then flew to a small hill and planted his hooves on its bases, and slowly it began to tremble as cracks opened on its side as lava began to come out.

"Snowfell! Calm down!"

Snowfell's body was shaking with effort as she tried to expel the voices.

Get. OUT!

Suddenly there was an enormous noise. The sky above began to split and snow fell (XD) quickly, twisting into an almost tornado-like wind. The laughter could be heard all around now.

"What's happening? Is there another monster here already? If there is, we need to find it and fast, or else everypony here, including us, will freeze to death in about an hour. I'll fly up and see what I can see." Storm said with a worried expression on his face. No sooner then reaching the tops of trees and activating the visor on his weather helmet to increase his visibility and scan for the source of the sudden cold, he saw the spires of ice coming from the location he had last seen Snowfell. "Guys, I think Snowfell's powers might be going beserk. There is a massive group of ice spires back in the village and they seem to be the source of all this cold. Follow me!"

Krein's eyes widened at the sight. He slammed his hoof into the ground as hard as he could, causing the hill and the ground he was on to explode in fiery volcanic eruptions. The fire in the trees began spreading to the buildings nearby; it was as if two different realms had been put together, ice and fire.

<What's wrong with her?> Krein thought as he basked in the lava's heat. The ground began to quake more, the hill he was on now forming into a larger volcano as time went by.

Snow was slowly rising into the air, her body limp. She was conscious anymore. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and began to speak. She was no longer Snowfell, however-her eyes were completely blue, even the whites. And the voice wasn't her own-it was higher and colder, sharp.

This "Snowfell" you know is no longer with you, it said with a laugh. She belongs to our realm now, where she belongs. You-the voice spat the next word-ponyfolk have taken her from us. For this you must die.

"Good work Krein. That should help warm up the area at least enough so that hypothermia doesn't set in. But we still, need to go see what we can do about Snowfell." Taking on a commanding air that he usually saved for his weather team, he started barking out orders. "Enigma, you come with me and we'll go investigate the area around those icebergs and see what we can do to stop it. Krein, you stay here and keep pumping up that volcano."
