[Victoria and Co. 782]

Enigma looked at the at the flying alicorn. What was Krein doing? Enigma followed his line of sight as best he could being at a greatly different vantage point. He seemed to be looking at the fires. Although Enigma's eyes were sharp, he couldn't see anything of interest by the flames.

 

Enigma took a step away from the fires. He had never liked them, the way the made the light flicker was unsettling to him. It was true Enigma used a type of shadow magic, but that didn't mean he liked the shadows. Enigma didn't even know what his other powers were besides shadow magic. He could never remember showing any other kind of abilities, and the shadow magic really came from his cape. There were times when Enigma even questioned if he had any actual powers besides the ones the cape gave him.

 

Enigma closed his eyes, he was getting off topic with his thoughts, he needed to focus.

 

Enigma's horn began to glow, as did his black tattered cape. The cape slowly rotated until it stood straight up on his back. The cape elongated and split in half, directly down the middle. The two half-capes migrated lower down Enigmas body. When they stopped they were in the place a pegasus' wings might be.

 

Each half of the cape began to morph and twist. A bright light shone from each side of Enigma, and when it faded, he was sporting two long, jet-black, pegasus wings.

 

For all intensive purposes, Enigma was now a pegasus; he couldn't do any more shadow magic without the cape, and all his normal magic was focused on keeping the wings in existence.

 

With a few powerful flaps, Enigma was suspended high above the ground, attempting to get a view of the scene to the east.

"Fire is under my control!" Krein shouted in his different language. "The one responsible for this uproar is probably the stupidest creature in existence!"

Krein flew around the area, looking for whoever was responsible for the explosion.

 

(It's your turn Ninja Derpy!)

(OK!!!!) Out from the dust emerged a large, strange looking figure. When the dust cleared.....it was Typhon, the half god, half monster, with almost infinite power. He roared his signature roar and looked directly at Krein. His eyes were bloodshot and dark red, which meant one thing. He was pissed, and he was on a rampage.

(Are you serious?! Ok.... let's see how we can work with this...)

Krein looked directly into the monster's eyes. He formed a giant flameball from the nearby blazes and launched it directly into his face.

"Ready to get buried under another rock?"

Typhon opened his mouth so wide it looked unnatural and....swallowed the fireball......

"Wow... cheap b*stard..."

Krein flew around the monster, trying to find a good spot to hit.

<How was this thing imprisoned before? Ah, right! Buried under a mountain...>

"Where the heck am I going to find a fricking mountain?"

Enigma smirked.

"Krein, get me about ten minutes! I need to get a better look at this thing!"

"Hahaha, you pathetic monster! You dare challenge me?!"

The flames around Krein had begun to affect him more and more. A voice whispered in his head.

Krein landed on the ground and stared at his teammates.

"Power?"

Enigma sat midair, only flapping his wings on occasion, staring at Typhon. He was taking in every detail of the monstrosity. slowly, he began to shift his view over the rest of the creature's being, he needed to know everything about it appearance.

Enigma heard the voice sound off in his head. Momentarily distracted, he looked away from Typhon and glanced at the others. Power? He didn't want power. Why would he want power? He didn't need power.

Enigma looked back at Typhon, he shouldn't let himself be so easily distracted.

 

<Ah, so for you it'll be answers, I see. You want to know your past, well I can help with that too...>

 

Enigma's eyes snapped up, now pointing directly at the beast's face. Answers..?

Krein noticed Enigma's reaction to the same voice.

 

"That would be for me!" he said in his ancient language with a smirk. He launched a fireball towards him.

Enigma thought for a moment, then turned to face Typhon.

 

"YOU MIGHT BE A HALF-GOD," he yelled over the racket of the scene. "BUT YOU'VE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK FOR QUITE A LONG TIME. ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE THE ONE WHO'LL HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS TO MY PAST?"

(Discord's the one talking btw, but pretend you don't know that)

 

Krein absorbed more of the flames around him and cloaked himself in a fiery aura. He aimed his sharp horn at the creature and flew straight at its eye.

(I assumed so, since Typhon never was one for talking in the myths, but Enigma is ignorant to the fact)

 

Enigma looked Typhon in the eye. He just needed a little bit longer!

Suddenly he saw Krein flying towards the beast's eye.

 

What is he doing?!?! Enigma thought frantically, his concentration broken once again.

While all the rest of this was going on, Storm was gathering together a large mass of clouds to make a storm big enough to put out all the fire. "Who knew that being able to control the weather also came in handy for fighting fires!" Suddenly, he heard a strange voice in his head "Storm, Storm, Storm...you've been helping people your whole life and do they ever do the same for you? No...I didn't think so. You should just let the fire burn and absorb all of your teammates." You don't even know them, they don't mean anything to you. Storm thought back "I don't know who you are, but I don't care that no one ever does anything for me. Its called having a sense of duty. I suggest you find one." With that mental comment, Storm gave the cloud mass he had gathered a good strong kick, starting up a massive shower, putting out most of the fire instantly. Krein was snapped out of his power hungry state as soon as the torrent hit him. He flew under a tree for cover and shook off the water from his body.

"You're kidding me!"

Krein shook his head and then casted a magical armor over himself and the rest of his teammates.

<This won't last long, so I have to dish out some heavy damage on that thing...>

 

(Typhon grabbed his bleeding eye in pain, but soon smiled as the storm came down)

 

"Storm Shock! Did you not read Theogony? Typhon controls storms! He is a storm!"

Suddenly, Enigma found his wings pinned against his sides, the armor Krein had cast was holding them shut. Enigma struggled against them, but the he had already lost his focus and the wings began to fade.

 

Enigma cried out as the wings returned to cape form and he plummeted toward the ground.

 

AS he was falling, Enigma happened to open his eyes and look directly at Typhon's open mouth,

 

Yes, the last piece of the puzzle! Now I ca-

 

His thoughts were cut short as he crashed to the ground in a mangled heap.

(No it wasn't supposed to do that D:!)

Krein caught Enigma midair with telekinesis. Looking up in the air, he tried to redirect some of the lightning towards Typhon's injured eye.

"Someone do something! Call off the fricking Storm!"

(I figured as much, but where's the fun in not falling if you don't naturally have wings?)

 

...Or so Enigma thought. Luckily for him Krein managed to scoop him out of the sky before he hit the ground.

 

I always think that the worst possible thing will happen. I need to remember that I have allies in this fight. Next time I also need to remember, armor first, then wings. Enigma thought to himself. Still, free-falling like that does have its perks. Mainly, the unique vantage points...

 

Enigma dropped out of the telekinesis, and landed lightly on the ground. Enigma looked up at the beast Typhon with a grimace on his face. He had now thoroughly examined the monstrosity's being, and could theoretically reconstruct his own atoms to be identical to its. He was hesitant though, just a minor reconstruction drained quite a bit of energy, and the thing was huge. If he transformed himself into Typhon and didn't instantly die from exhaustion, it was possible that he would only be able to hold the form for a few seconds.

 

Of course, the tide could turn in the completely opposite direction, he could easily become a copy of Typhon, but then be consumed by the same dark thoughts and evils that the original was.

 

<Oh face it Enigma, you're useless to this team, you will fail them, if not now then at an even more crucial time and place. You are weak, you are foalish, and you are ignorant. You don't even know what the old you would do right now, you don't even know that the old you could have slain the thing the minute it appeared. You heard me, SLAIN it. Not even the gods could do that, they just threw a rock on it and ran away. Come now, the choice is quite clear Enigma, know your past, save your friends, and defeat this monster, or die while your friends die around you.>

"Oh horsefeathers! I totally forgot about Typhon being a storm god! I was just trying to put out the fire!" Storm exclaimed as he stopped the rain and wind. "This will actually work in my advantage as well! From what I can tell, his body is made of solidified cloud, meaning I can manipulate it and reshape him!" Storm flies low and kicks at Typhon's ankles, separating a disk of cloud from both of Typhon's legs and causing the monster to fall flat on his ugly face. Then, he went for Typhon's shoulders, taking out a couple of pieces and removing Typhon's arms. "There that should make it easier to take him on, now that he is stuck on his face. Krein smiled as he saw Storm Shock's handiwork.

 

<No. crush them... They're weak, you're strong. Sear the flesh from thir bones...>

 

Krein put his hooves to the side of his head.

"Shut up!"

Krein's fiery cutie marked enveloped him once again, much like it did when he fought Zanthak. He flew towards Typhon and sent an obsidian blade through his second eye.

"Good work Krein! Now he's blind and stuck on his ugly face! Now all we have to do is figure out how to finish him off. Its not going to be easy, seeing as he's still a half god, but I'm sure we'll come up with something." Storm said with a tone of pride at the teamwork the team had just showed.

Enigma had had enough. Krein and Storm had been having all the fun. It was time to cut loose, and take on a legendary beast. He was engulfed by the shadow of his own cape, only his glowing eyes and horn visible in the darkness. The light from the horn suddenly stopped and a faint outline could be seen of Enigma's body. The outline began to shift, to expand and contract, to move.

 

Enigma was engulfed by a bright light which faded as suddenly as it had come. There, in Enigma's place, stood a mighty basilisk. Enigma, the basilisk that is.

 

Why be a big bad monster like Typhon, when a little rock can take you down? Enigma thoughts were projected into the minds of his teammates. If we can't kill this thing, why not just contain it? I just need to get a clear look at thing's eyes and he'll be solid as rock. Sound familiar Discord?

"Wow...so that's one of your abilities, eh Enigma? Its a good thing you didn't get the chance to explain it earlier. Actions speak much louder than words. Getting him to look into your eyes shouldn't a be problem now that he is immobilized." Storm said in his mind, responding to Enigma's plan.
