Krein lifted up Typhon's head with telekinesis.

"He's all yours!"

Storm flew up and came slamming down onto Typhon's back with his full weight. "That pain should keep his from struggling too much. Go ahead, Enigma."

[Victoria and Co. 782]

Enigma opened his eyes as wide as he could and glared directly into the eyes of Typhon. He could feel the rage, hat, anger, and power radiating from the sightless eyes. He was hearing a voice in his head, not the same one as before, this ones was harsher, more primal.

 

<STOP! I WILL END YOU! YOU AND YOU FRIENDS WILL ALL DIE! I AM TYPHON MIGHTIEST OF CREATURES! NOT EVEN THE GODS COULD KILL ME!>

 

Enigma continued to stare into the eyes. He felt he power draining as he noticed Typhon's legs began to harden and turn a dull gray color.

 

Well then Typhon, it looks like the gods were to afraid to look you in the eye. Enigma thought as he glared as hard as he could into his eyes.

 

Enigma was renewed with a new vigor and the petrifaction process began to speed up. Soon the mighty beast Typhon was nothing more than a living head and rock body.

 

<I WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING YOU HOLD DEAR! PREPARE TO DIE PATHETIC PONIES!>

 

Sorry Typhon, but I can't let you do that! It's time for you to kindly shut the buck up! Enigma thought as the last of Typhon's face was turned to stone.

Krein formed a ball of lava, hardened it, and then smashed it on the creature's head.

"That... that was some pretty terrifying stuff there..."

[Victoria and Co. 782]

Enigma smiled as much as he could, still being a basilisk. He swayed back and forth. His vision began to swim and he felt weak, he had exerted himself to much in the transformation. His head fell to the ground and landed with a loud thud. Enigma began to glow and soon had returned to his normal unicorn self, still lying on the ground breathing deeply.

"That was awesome you guys! We make one heck of a team! Remind me to never get on either of you twos' bad side." Storm said while doing a few celebratory mid-air back flips.

"Hey pegasus, mind helping me out by carrying this guy to safety?"

[Victoria and Co. 782]

Enigma grunted, and began to talk between breathes.

 

"It's a good- good thing I- I didn't turn into a Cockatrice," Enigma stopped to catch his breath. "Those things- are much- m-much more complex... Woo! We did it!"

 

He shouldn't have lost focus so many times when examining Typhon, that had really drained him. Of course now he could turn into Typhon if the circumstances called for it and he had enough energy to do so.

"Sure thing Krein. Helping ponies is what I do!" Storm replied "Ok sir, grab hold of my hooves and I'll get you out of this disaster zone." Storm said with his usual air of professionalism to the stallion who had been watching their whole battle with slack-jawed amazement.

"That's quite the magic," Krein said as he casted a healing spell on Enigma.

<Dangerous magic at that...> he thought silently.

"where'd you learn to use it?"

[Victoria and Co. 782]

Enigma grimaced.

 

"I... I don't know actually, it's not even really my magic. It comes from this cape."

 

Enigma motioned to the cape which was once again securely on his back.

 

"It drains my normal unicorn magic and replaces it with what you just saw. I can't seem to figure out how it works, I can't even take the cape off, I've tried. "

Krein nodded and looked away quickly as he felt an evil feeling come upon him.

<Forget the cape, just calm down...>

"Hey.. maybe we should look for any hurt ponies or something?"

[DJ MUFF1N D3RP 323]

Storm returned from dropping off his first rescue. "Guys, I found a safe clearing about half a mile to the north of our current position. I also learned from the stallion that I just dropped off that there was a pretty sizable village here before Typhon showed up, so we should have a fair few survivors to rescue. I hope you guys are up for a little search and rescue, because this could be a serious setback to our mission."

Krein nodded sadly as he looked upon the wrecked village. He knew this sight all too well.

<I used to cause this... All for the sake of glory...>

He walked over to a destroyed house and moved away the debris.

Enigma stood up and stretched. His magical strength wasn't back yet, but his physical was, and he was determined to find any survivors. As Enigma looked at the destroyed buildings, he felt an old sense of nostalgia. He stopped. Nostalgia? He had never been out here before as far as he could remember.

 

Enigma looked around, he definitely remembered this place, but why?

Storm noticed that Enigma had a strange expression on his face. He flew down to talk to him. "You look like something is troubling you...anything you care to talk about? It may be something Krein and I can help with. The more honest you are with us, the better our teamwork will become."

Enigma shook his head and looked at Storm.

 

"I wish I could talk about it, but even I don't know what's going on. All I know is that I remember this place even though I've never been here before."

 

Enigma felt himself fading out of consciousness, he was trying to remember again and he hadn't even realized it. He tried to blink his eyes in order to clear his mind, but it was to late, he was dipping out of consciousness.

 

Before falling completely into his trance, Enigma managed to say one last thing,

 

"Guys, I'm still a little worn out, I'm just gonna rest here for a second and think. If I don't resurface before we leave, just shake me back into focus."

"Ok Enigma. I bet you are pretty worn out. That was a pretty impressive bit of magic you pulled back there. I've only ever seen one other pony do something on that scale. It was Twilight Sparkle, the Princess's personal student. She once lifted an Ursa Minor and carried it all the way back to its cave in the middle of the Everfree Forest. Say...I just had a thought, maybe you and Twilight are somehow related. You both have control over huge amounts of magic, more than any other unicorn I've ever met." Storm is snapped out of his revery when he heard the cries of the ponies in need. "We'll talk more about this later, Enigma, there are ponies in danger. You take it easy." Enigma chuckled as his only half conscious mind heard what Storm had said. Huge amounts of magic? Turning into a basilisk wasn't really that advanced. Normally he wouldn't even be this tired, it was his lack of focus that had really drained him. In fact he could remember transforming into things like an hydra, a chimera, and a dragon and only being half as drained.

 

Suddenly, Enigma's mind awoke into thought.

 

Wait a minute... I've never been any of those things... I've never even seen any of those things and that's the first step of transforming into them!

 

Enigma jumped up, now fully awake from the shock of realization. He could definitely remember transforming into those things before, but he was sure he hadn't seen any in the last four years...

"This happened to him before... Is he sick or something?"

Krein casted anoher healing spell on Enigma as he pointed a group of ponies towards Storm.

Enigma tried to clear his mind. He was tired that's why he thought he had been all those things before, right? No, even now with adrenaline pumping, he could specifically remember one time turning into a dragon. A chimera on several occasions, and a hydra. He was sure he had done all that before, but he knew it hadn't been anytime in the past four years.

 

Suddenly, Enigma was engulfed in a healing spell and found himself completely awake, both mentally and physically. There was a cross between panic and excitement in his eyes.

 

"What happened? How long was I out?" he quickly asked his teammates.

"Twenty years!" Krein joked. "Nah, only a couple of minutes really. What were you thinking about? You seemed to be in pretty deep thought by the looks of it..."

[Victoria and Co. 782]

Asleep for 20 years? Well, even if that had been true, it wouldn't be as big of a deal as what he had just remembered just as Krein's healing spell had hit him.

 

Enigma looked at around him,

 

"You see this place? I remember this place, but I've never been here before. How is that possible? Not only that but I remember transformed into things I've never even seen before, something that should be impossible! But I know I've done it, I can feel the information about the creatures I turned into, in my mind, almost as if I just examined them!"

 

Enigma paused a bit to catch his breath, this next part would be the hardest to tell, hardest to believe. Heck, if the memory hadn't come to him so vividly, he probably would have dismissed it himself.

 

"There's one more thing... It would seem that I am... over 1000 years old... The one of the creatures I remember turning into, was lost approximately 1500 years ago, and there was only ever one... Echidna the chimera, mother of all monsters. The only way I could possibly be able to transform into that is if a saw her before she vanished..."

"Well, considering Typhon was married to her, how do we know that she wasn't released as well? Maybe she was released while you could remember who you were... A war isn't launched in a day, you have to plan several thigs out before you launch one... If Discord had Typhon, then what's stopping him from getting her as well?"
