NavelColt 22,883 December 17, 2013 Share December 17, 2013 The trade-off being that potion making requires ingredients. And you can be damned sure that most potion ingredients aren't something you can go frolic out into your back yard and get, or go to the supermarket down the street and get. Potions may be powerful, but they take longer preparation than the ability to cast magic yourself via a horn. That's the trade-off.
Scootalove 10,689 December 17, 2013 Share December 17, 2013 The potion has a huge significance with how rare and the amount of bits that a pony would pay, for the amount that the potion is worth. It isn't easy making a potion or trying to find the ingredients, you require the ingredients and the time to be able to prepare the ingredients to make the potion. As for the magic, you would need to have the ability to cast a spell to either make the potion or mix the ingredients in manually to make the potion. The trade-off has been revealed.
