Fluttershy'sYay 0 February 4, 2014 Share February 4, 2014 (edited) Where to start... I am not good with introductions. My first major experience with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was less of a subtle one and more of an introduction through flooding. I am, first and foremost, a furry by nature (no, not one who dresses in fursuits for sexual reasons) and am active on a fair number of websites dedicated to that fandom. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic had reached my ears in passing, though only after the phenomenon known as Bronies became newsworthy. Upon hearing this news I was both surprised and not so surprised. People are fans of odder and more questionable interests, but the idea of a male individual (of my age and older, no less) being so hugely ecstatic about a show clearly intended for young girls was beyond my understanding. Please note that I was then, and still am, quite open-minded and do not judge anyone over matters of personal taste. However, I still believed the idea to be excessively strange. Whilst perusing one of my favorite furry-based websites I noticed a change in content. A drastic change, in fact. Where some fandoms go through a slight increase of content (usually a third of a page at most) once in a great while, My Little Pony came by storm. Almost entire pages of content, page after page after page, appeared seemingly out of nowhere. The level of content on the website has steadily evened out over time, but large amounts of MLP artwork is still added daily. As with the artwork and focus on the Brony phenomena, my thoughts on the subject decreased with time and I all but forgot about ponies, cartoon or otherwise. I made a friend who was, and is, a Brony, but still I payed little attention to the land of Equestria and her inhabitants. Recently while on Netflix I decided to have a day of documentary watching and ‘Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony’ caught my eye. I had not been aware of a documentary having been made, so I watched the film with unexpected results. After several big name individuals involved in the community, not the least of whom being John de Lancie, whom I adore, explained what the Brony community was essentially all about, I was cleared of any negative thoughts on the issue. A few days passed after watching the documentary and I decided to give the show a chance, if nothing else but to see if I could understand what was so appealing. Having caught up on all of my other shows, which are numerous, I have had plenty of time to watch almost all of the first season and am thoroughly enjoying myself. All of that excessively, and most likely unnecessary, worded detailing of my journey into the Brony community being said, I am pleased to be part of this community. In the words of my favorite pony, yay! Edited February 6, 2014 by Fluttershy'sYay
