Site question - What, ah, "base" does MLPForums run off?

Hello. I was thinking of starting a forum for a Minecraft server my friend and I hoped to make. Basically, I'm asking what's the skeleton of the forums? Like what software or whatever does it run off of? I'd like to use this kinda site for the forums.

The MLP Forums uses IP.Board, by Invision Power.

However, IP.Board is very expensive forum software.

If you want to make a forum I recommend using PHPBB - which is completely free.
