The Grim Reaper laughed.

The darkness was overwhelming as Gemini Rise made her way through the Everfree Forest. She was used to this, it was always dark when she got up and would trot around. This was her home- not a warm one, but it was what she always knew. She looked up, her grey eyes adjusting to the darkness.

Her black and red coat had a glow-like quality, helping her keep from getting lost. Her black and purple mane was braided so that the twigs wouldn't get too overly caught. But that was unavoidable. She continued to trot around the trees, getting more and more uneasy. Eventually she got to a point where she was able to look through the canopy, and stare at the night time sky.

It was empty. No stars or moon to light up the night. Instead it was darker than anything she ever saw before. The more she stared, the more she felt danger was coming- and coming fast. She watched and watched, willing the stars or at least the moon to appear. She almost decided to get up when a deep roll of thunder sounded. At least, she thought it was thunder.

But the more she listened, and followed the noise, she could hear the distinct voices within the sound. It was screams. Terrifying, blood curdling, heart stopping screams. The cut the darkness like a knife, and Gemini began to hurry to the edge to the forest. Her first thought at the sight was, 'I must be having a night mare.'

The normally clean place of Ponyville was drenched in blood. No, it couldn't be blood. Because blood meant violence, and killing and fear. It meant something was wrong. Gemini started to back up and then saw something. A pony she didn't know, but recognized from visits before. Wasn't that the library girl? She carefully trotted out into the open coming closer with caution. Sure enough, it was the one named 'Twilight Sparkle'. Only she didn't sparkle today. No, she was coated in the life of everypony around her. And some ponies were following her, the same crazed look in their now black tinted eyes. They looked hungry, and the more she thought about it, they looked at her like she were food.

    They wanted to eat her.

All of a sudden she found herself running as fast as she could into the depths of the forest. She hoped to find someone who was alive, or wake up from this aweful nightmare.
