Akuma looked around as he arrived at the squad 12 barracks and saw a few others. He immediately recognized the 2nd squad captain and walked up to him. "Captain, what's going on?" he said, looking a bit curious. not much happened within the walls of the Seireitei nowadays.

"That does make sense" Shion interjected cooly. "Perhaps something or someone trapped in a different plane of existence made their way here. I'd imagine to do such a thing would take a great deal of energy." In her sleeves, she kept her hand on the hilt of her weapon, weary of what else might come through.

Kenta sighed and followed them to the... whatever it was. He didn't really know either. He looked at them with a troubled expression. "I'd like you all to step back. I don't quite know what's going to happen when I start experimenting with this thing." He approached the distortion slowly, staring hard at it for a while, slowly circling it. He gently extended his hand toward it and began pouring out his energy into it. Eventually he withdrew his hand and sighed. "I have a theory. But the only person who's suited to properly test this and come to a conclusion is the captain, and I haven't seen him all night. He has a tendency to wander during the night, so I assumed he'd be back by morning for the captain's meeting like he normally is. But given the disappearances, I probably shouldn't have let him go on his own. Honestly, if my theory is right, nobody would be able to do much of anything about this except him, and if I'm wrong, I don't know anyone who'd have a better chance of figuring it out. The logical thing to do, in my opinion, is to wait until morning. Hopefully he'll be back and able to solve this mystery."

Almost as soon as he finished speaking, the distortion started shifting, before suddenly disappearing entirely. Afterwards, Takahiko pointed his finger to where it had been, too stunned to say anything. In it's wake were at least a dozen bodies, all shinigami, and all recently killed.

Glisten Dew just stared, wide-eyed, as the distortion shifted and disappeared, leaving some Shinigami bodies. She was too shocked to say anything and just simply stared. "Who ... whoever did ... this must be ... s-s-strong." Glisten said slowly but stuttered on the last word.

(I think you got the locations mixed up a bit, Mask, but we can roll with it)

Church turned his attention to Akuma when he heard his approach. He gave the 13th Division member a nod of greeting before responding directly to his question, "We're not one hundred percent sure, just yet."

He shifted his gaze and attention back to Shion, adding on to what Ditch had said. Church was, to say the least, intrigued. But at the same time wary. Again, he sighed, "It is a possibility. And if it proves to be the case... I have a bad feeling about the power whoever, or whatever, came through may wield."

It wasn't too much longer after he finished speaking that Akira and Glisten returned, the 12th Division Lieutenant in tow. The 7th Lieutenant fell in behind her Captain, and like Church, she complied to Kenta's insistence that they step back. Kenta went about his duties, them voiced his opinion on what it may be - concluding his Captain may be the only one that could figure this out. Not much longer after he finished speaking, did the void begin to distort and ultimately vanish. In its place, the bodies of several Shinigami, all devoid of life.

Akira gasped, cupping both hands over her mouth, eyes wide as she gazed upon the corpses. Church just looked sad as he looked down at them. He was shocked, to be sure, but he did a good job of hiding it. The 2nd Captain drew in a deep breath, letting it out slowly as he kneeled by the corpses. He recognized a few of them, much to his dismay. Tightening his grip on his Zanpakuto, Church managed to speak in agreement to Glisten, "I believe you are correct..."

He shut his eyes, groaning slightly, "And with the 12th Captain being unaccounted for on top of it all," he said to himself, "This does not bode well."

"Yes sir." Glisten Dew said and she finally managed to tear her eyes away from the pile of bodies. She slowly walked back to the 6th Squad barracks. 'Who did that? Why did they do that? "Hmph" Akuma gave a nod in agreement and left the scene. He wasn't in any rush to get back, so he took the scenic route. All the while, he kept wondering what was going on. 'Must be something interesting if the captains are meeting about it,' he thought. he then saw his barracks approaching and made his way to his quarters. He then sat down and proceeded to meditate.

Church met Takahiko's gaze, nodding in acknowledgement of what must be done. He if he didn't like what was happening before, he certainly did not like it now. I the back of his mid he could hear Kage Taigun's own anxiety over what was occurring.

Akira bit her lip when ordered to return to her Barracks, stopping herself from protesting. Orders were orders, after all, "Besides, it's Captain Masaru, Captain Church and Lieutenant Oshiro. Whatever, or whoever, it is, they'll be able to handle it in a fight! At least... I hope so."

Shoving these thoughts aside, Akira Shiraki drew in her breath and let it out in a quick sigh, "Yes, sir. Be careful." She said, saluted, then made her way back to the Barracks as swiftly as she could.

Less than ten minutes later, the captains were assembled. There were, however, two captains absent. It was no surprise that Kokoroe of 12th was missing, but what was strange was that Kenpachi Raptor of 11th was nowhere to be found either. Even with two missing, the assembled captains were an impressive sight to behold. At the head of them was the Captain Commander, Sora Shiruba of the 1st squad. He began to speak, his voice calm yet authoritative.

"The disappearance of a captain is not something to be taken lightly. The disappearance of two is almost unbelievable. Furthermore, we can only assume the disappearances are linked with the others who have vanished recently, most of whom have now been found dead at the sight of the...rift. The rift of course, is another matter of concern, and one which is presumably closely related to the cause of the disappearances. Naturally, this has become something we need to deal with immediately. Lieutenant Oshiro of the twelfth squad has conducted tests on the site of the rift and, along with the other researchers of his squad, will continue to do so. He believes he has a theory about the rift, and wished to share it with all of the captains together. Lieutenant, you may speak."

Oshiro stepped forward and cleared his throat. "I believe, although I could very well be wrong, as I didn't have the opportunity to test it thoroughly, that the rift was the entrance to some sort of alternate dimension or something of the like. If this is the case, I would assume that whoever killed the shinigami found at the site of the rift came from within it, and has now retreated back into it. The reason the bodies weren't visible until after the rift left remains a mystery to me. My only theory is that they were dumped there from the rift just before it vanished. If that's the case, it opens up all kinds of other questions as to how and why, but with no more information, I can't speculate any further." The lieutenant stepped back, his role in this meeting complete.

The captain commander began to speak once again. "We have no way of knowing whether this theory is true. However, the possibility that it is means that we have to be prepared for an attack at all times. As such, patrols will be doubled. In order to learn more about the deaths of the shinigami found at the rift site, the 4th squad will examine the bodies and research the cause of death as thoroughly as possible. Captains Church and Takahiko- you are are to work with the others who witnessed the rift and further investigate both the appearance of the rift, and the disappearance of Captains Kokoroe and Raptor. Everyone else is to prepare their squads for combat and await their findings. Unless anyone has anything they'd like to add, this meeting is adjourned."

The captains all stared at Church and Takahiko expectantly. Takahiko, in turn, shook his head and looked over to Church.

It did not take a particularly long time for the Captains that remained to be assembled. Church took note that not only was the 12th Division Captain missing, but so too was the Captain of the 11th. To have lost two, as the Captain Commander put it, was unheard of. Church stayed in his place among his peers, sparing them each a short glance before giving his full attention to Captain Shiruba. The elder outlined much of what was discovered by himself and the others, before handing the reins of the assembly off to Lieutenant Oshiro. The researcher gave his theory on what the rift was, and whatever had killed the Shinigami left behind by it. Captain Commander Shiruba continued from there, stating that patrols would be doubled - which may put some more pressure on the members of his own Division especially - and that those of the 4th Division would examine the sight. That all seemed logical.

He found his attention gripped fully by Captain Shiruba's next words; that himself, Takahiko and those that had been present at the site of the rift would be tasked specifically with investigating the rift's appearance, and the disappearances of the two Captains Kokoroe and Raptor. That would leave his own Lieutenant mainly in charge of the Division, but that was fine, in the long run, for they were trusted. After a second, Church noticed that his fellow Captain's attention was on him. He cleared his throat, speaking in his usual, even tone, "Aside from the obvious 'stay alert', only that it would be appreciated to be notified of anything the rest of you may uncover. That is all that I have to add."

Shortly thereafter the captains dispersed, eventually leaving only Takahiko and Church. Slowly the 7th squad's captain sighed and turned to his colleague. "Well, I guess this means the two of us will be working together closely. We'd best gather the others, I suppose. But before we do, there's one thing we ought to figure out. Do you think we can trust them? Can we safely eliminate them as suspects?"

Church gave a solemn nod in response to Takahiko's observation, "It seems that to be the case." Was his initial response. His expression shifted slightly to one of slight unease at his question - about whether the others could be trusted.

He took a second to consider it before answer, "Blame it on my being the Captain of the Special Forces Division, but it would not be safe to completely disregard anyone as a possible suspect. But putting that aside, I cannot say for certain. Out of the lot of them, your Lieutenant, Akira Shiraki, is the one that I have the most faith not to be involved, as from them all, I know her best. I gave her Shunpo training in the past, and from my observations of her, she puts a lot of trust into her fellow Shinigami and holds them to a high regard. For her to be involved in something like this would be... Well, very out of character."

Running one hand over Kage Taigun's hilt, he continues, "I'm willing to give them all the benefit of a doubt, however. None have given reason not to be marginally trusted."

Church had only offered a nod in response, and maintained his silence as he made for the site. Sometimes, it was just best not to speak for him. It aided his thinking process, to an extent. Upon arriving at the site, he leaned his back against a nearby wall, Kage Taigun drawn and resting point down against the ground, with his hands resting on the end of the hilt, while he awaited the arrival of the others.

Things had certainly been interesting. Akira had arrived back at the 7th Division barracks in short order after leaving the Captains to their meeting. After that, she had tried to busy herself in any way she could. Originally, it had been lying in her quarters, trying to get some sleep, but her mind ran rampant, trying to think of who or what might have caused the rift. When she finally got the hint, Akira had elected to move about her quarters, looking for something to clean - which had always been a go-to stress reliever for her so long as she could remember - but found nothing within the tidy room. As such, she had resorted to deliberately trashing it, merely so she could clean it all again. It helped, but not nearly enough. After a bit of thinking, she came to the conclusion that taking a page from her Captain's book may help wear her out enough to sleep.

She had spent a good portion of time between leaving the Captains and receiving the message 'training', going over what she already knew of Kido, Shunpo and Zanjutsu. All in all, this tactic worked to make her tired enough for sleep. After making herself decent once again, for physical activity such as she had done tended to make one sweat, she had returned to her quarters for a measure of sleep. It wasn't too long before she was awoken by the sound of the courier arriving and she had gone to check. Like the others, she had received the same message - that she was to be working under Captains Masaru and Church to investigate the rift and disappearances. Akira couldn't help but smile just a little. It felt good to know that something was being done about it, in some measure. Even better that she would have a hand in it. Strapping Getsuma Abitai to the leather belt about her waist, Akira left the 7th Division barracks and made haste for the site of the rift, eager to get started.

(So yeah, I'm alive again. For sake of time I sorta controlled the courier... hope that's fine)
