Discord and Sombra

When Discord was defeated 1000 years ago he did nothing. He didn't try to fight baco, he didn't try to attack the princesses. He just stood there.

 

When Sombra was defeated 1000 years ago he brought spell on an ENTIRE empire.

 

And yet Discord gets called best villain and badass and Sombra gets called worst villain and pathetic.

 

Can someone explain this to me?

Sure. Discord's neigh-omnipotent, he can bend reality to be his bitch with the snap of his fingers :3 Because the show has constant time-restraints and is a kids show which can't have Dragonball Z-esque dragged out fight scenes every five seconds, Discord's OP factor has to be conviniently turned off when it's time to beat him, and thus why he's made to stand there and take it both when the Princesses stoned him, and again when the Mane Six stoned him for the second time. If time restraints and kids' show status weren't factors, it'd be much harder to nail Discord with the rainbow of doom, because indeed, he would not just stand there. He'd warp your pony butt across the continent while you're charging your elements up.

 

Writers/time restraints/plot devices' fault, not Discord's.

 

As for Sombra being called pathetic, that's mostly people not liking the fact that he got no lines, screentime, etc, and thus that 'in comparison to past villains, he's bad'. Many of these same people can't appreciate the fact that Meghan was trying to make a Sauron-esque villain, in other words a villain completely differet in style than all three of the previous major villains, but that's a debate for many pre-existing, Sombra-focused topics, methinks.
