Griffons?

Does anyone have more info about them? I can't seem to find any info on them anywhere.

I've been wanting to know what the lore behind them is. (Where they come from, what they eat, relationship with ponies, culture, etc.)

We've only seen a few so far unfortunately. I'd love to see more in the future. I have a friend, or two who theorizes that they come from the MLP "Europe." (Since Equestria seems to be North America, and what not.)

 

I'd love to learn more about the Griffons in the future. I hope we get an episode about them.

In fimfiction they seem to be the Russia to Equestria's America.....ie a bit proud and agressive and on the outside borders of Equestria or an adjacent continent. Or maybe the Klingons to our Federation (Stark Trek comparison) if you want another comparison. They are part of the reason for Equestria having a standing military (besides the threat of Changelings which were not known before the Canterlot wedding) as they can likely be a thorn in the side for Celestia with territorial disputes.

 

Anyway that's just a general vibe I've gotten from various fannon. whether Hasbro plans it to be like that or not is anyone's guess. Only other contact with them was with Gilda in season 1 who was RD's friend but came off as very agressive and petty. Which may be more griffon traits than a personal character flaw (ie see how the Dragons were in Dragon quest).
