Yes, the background characters, whether it be Derpy Hooves and her famous wall eyed eyes, the chocolate fish from Spongebob, or any extra to any cartoon, these seemingly meaningless characters somehow become extremely popular within their respective fandom, just like how Derpy immediately exploded into popularity. Now, since this is the My Little Pony forums, I'll be looking at the popular background ponies and what I find intriguing about them. I think we all know about Derpy, and how most of the fandom reacted to the infamous voice change, so I think I'll just leave it at that Derpy is my favorite pony. Now, Dr. Whooves (Hooves? Still don't know which one.), I had never once paid attention to Dr. Who until I found out about this stallion, now he is on my messenger bag every time I go to school. I'm interested now in Dr. Who, but unfortunately can't watch it cause I don't like streaming services and don't have BBC. So, unfortunately I'm stuck with the pony Doctor. One thing I love about background characters, is that the fandom gives them the personality they are known for, like Berry Punch. I always found this mare to be quite an intriguing one, just because of the alcoholic personality we gave her. I take alcoholism very seriously, but I can't help but laugh at the things the fandom does with her, even the show decided to put her in the Season 2 finale with the Crystal ponies, which I thought was funny! Either coincidence or not, I still applaud you DHX. Now onto my favorite pair of all, Octavia and Vinyl Scratch. Vinyl has confused me for awhile. She's a Disk Jocky, with turntables and speakers, yet everywhere else where music is involved, it's either a live performance or a phonograph. So, are ponies technologically advanced only in some areas? I don't know, anyways, about the pair. I find myself related to these two a lot. I played and enjoyed classical music a few years ago (though I stopped to focus on my video game career), but but also am a huge fan of dubstep and techno music, even wanting to learn how to DJ myself. I also find myself finding friends sometimes with people who are complete opposites with me here and there. These two musicians could he a great canon friendship right here, but we already got the "Polar opposites can be friends" thing with Rarity and Applejack, so that spots taken. Now onto the other famous duo, Lyra and Bon Bon. Lyra, and her fan assumed obsession with humans, just has cracked me up ever since I learned about her, and Bon Bon to put up with it, really made me realized how much of a nuance I am to my friends with my *Ahem* "Pony obsession", and how much they put up with me! XD Button Mash, who only appeared on screen for about 1 or 2 seconds, gained a great deal of fans. Bulk Biceps, before he was canon, and his trademark "YEAH!" Hell, even Sweet Cream Scoops is a cool character, and she isn't even show canon! Gaffer, 8-Bit, Poindexter, even though main characters in the comics, would make great background characters, just for the reference! These characters are blank slates for the fans to basically do whatever they want with them, and that's what makes these characters great.
