About this blog

I'll mostly just be talking about anything that interests me. And when I say that, I mean what's going on in the gaming, comic, and TV/Movie community. Mostly video games, though :3

What I noticed about the early 3D Sonic Games...

You know what I've noticed about the first five 3D Sonic games on consoles? It's that they seemed to have decreased in quality until Sonic Unleashed rolled around. Allow me to explain the quality change of Sonic Adventure - Sonic 06. I don't count Sonic Riders in the list. When Sonic Adventure burst onto the scene on the SEGA Dreamcast, most owners of the system set their sights on getting the game. When they got it, most people rather enjoyed the game, mostly for Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles' ga

The Wii U Deserves Better Respect

I already know what next-gen system I'm getting; the Wii U. Games like New Super Mario Bros. U, Scribblenauts Unlimited, and Sonic Lost World have all contributed into making that decision. But, the Wii U right now is getting really underscored by the gaming industry as a whole. At my local Walmart, the Wii U has it's own shelf. Inside the shelf, the light is turned off inside and the glass separating you from the games is totally stained. On top of that, normal Wii games take up half of the spa

Shadow the Hedgehog Run-Through Tonight...

Tonight, I'm going to be doing a Shadow the Hedgehog run-through, beginning to end. Every ending, every stage, every mission (possibly), just to be done with this forever. I'm making today's entry about this because I don't think I'll be able to get to make one tonight. I'll be so wrapped up in finally finishing this piece of shit, I won't be able to get to making a geekasm. So, I just decided "Screw it, I'll just make it about the misery I'm going to be put through tonight. Tonight, I destroy

Knuckles' Role as Guardian of the Master Emerald

I remember when Knuckles was first playable back in Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. His character was clearly established as the guardian of a giant emerald called 'The Master Emerald.' This concept would carry through into the 3D era. In Sonic Adventure, the Master Emerald was destroyed, sending the home of the emerald, Angel Island, falling into the sea. Knuckles spent the game finding the missing shards emerald and restoring them, thus returning Angel Island to the sky. In SA

Shadow the Hedgehog: If Each Ending was Canon...

For those that don't know about the game 'Shadow the Hedgehog,' I'll fill you in; Shadow the Hedgehog was a Sonic game released in 2005 for the Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2. Surprisingly, the game crashed and burned. Part of the fact came from it's ten alternate endings that you need to complete in order to unlock the final ending. Sometimes I like to think of each ending being in the official canon. However, I know that it could never be possible. Before I continue, here are all the endings in thei

Japan and Video Games

One question; what is up with Japan and the gaming market. I mean, seriously, almost every game or console we've ever played usually starts out in Japan and released first in Japan. Heck, there are even some games or systems that are only released IN JAPAN. I'm not complaining or anything. I like Japan. In fact, I wish to go there someday. It's just that I spend a lot of my time in the deepest trenches of my subconscious, asking myself questions that really don't have to be answered. Today, this

Mario and Luigi Dream Team: So Much Nostalgia

Still trying to get through all the games I got for my birthday. Today, I started Mario and Luigi Dream Team for the Nintendo 3DS. Before playing this, I played most of the Mario and Luigi RPGs for Nintendo portable systems. When I played those, I LOVED them. So, I only assumed that they'd keep it going with this one, and, sure enough, Nintendo doesn't disappoint in that regard. The game feels very similar to the other Mario and Luigi RPGs, so I'm glad they kept the flow going here. Each of thes

Diablo 3: Similar to Another Game I've Played

Last night, I finally looked at Diablo 3. I got the console version, so I played it with my brother. I'm sure that the PC version of the game is better, but whatever. We spent many hours last night fighting undead and protecting the village of New Tristram. However, this game felt similar to another game. It felt painfully similar to World of Warcraft. Now, not to say that World of Warcraft is bad. I actually played that game for a good while. Both games are made by Blizzard Entertainment. I lik

Sonic Lost World: The Badniks

I'm super hyped for Sonic Lost World. I've mentioned it on several topics on the forums in the past weeks. However, let me briefly touch upon one thing that bothers me a little bit about this title; the badniks. In this game, we're going back to the original formula for Eggman's robots; He captures little woodland creatures and stuffs them inside robots that he calls "badniks." These include the Motobug and the Buzz Bomber. As Sonic runs through whatever stage he's in, he can jump or homing att

GTA 5 First Impressions

Well, last night, I got two of my birthday presents early, and one of them happened to be GTA 5. Right when I opened it, I sprinted to my Xbox 360 and put that sucker in. Upon putting it in, the game forced me to sit through it's long installation time. I'm freaking serious, if you're an impatient person like I am, this installation seems like an eternity. But, in reality, it's really only 20 minutes. Anyway, after the installation, the game greeted me by throwing me into a heist right from the

New Steam Controller: Looks Weird, but Sounds Cool

A little while ago, Steam announced that they were going to release their newest piece of gaming technology; The Steam Controller. This is pretty much what it looks like. Now, I don't use Steam much. I'd rather have everything I need to play a video game right in front of me with a controller instead of a keyboard. Playing games on PC has always felt awkward to me, even if I tried to use a 360 controller. But, with this Steam controller, it might help out with that awkwardness. Also, I've been

No Entries this Week

I would like to apologize for not posting a geekasm entry yesterday. I got all wrapped up in what I was doing that day, and I didn't have enough time to write one during the night. Anyways, I won't be posting any geekasms this week. Instead, I'll be doing this: The annual Fall Fair has come back to my town, and I'm going to be spending a good chunk of this week down there playing games and stuffing my face with cheese curds and chili dogs. Because of this, I won't be able to post any geeka

The Ouya

I've been seeing this thing all over the internet as of late. Whenever I watch something on YouTube, most of the time, I'm going to get an advertisement of the Ouya. So, with all of this blatant advertising in my face, I figured I'd give my view on this thing. Let me just start by saying that this microscopic cube of a system has the most confusing name imaginable. I'm not sure how you'd say "Ouya" without twisting your tongue the first couple times. But, regardless, that is irrelevant to what

A Milestone for Rockstar Games

Grand Theft Auto 5 came out just three days ago. On the day before it was released, residents of my town formed a line that literally went from my local Walmart to the Arby's across the street. But, within a three day span, the game has single-handedly broken an all time record. From it's release date on Tuesday to today, Grand Theft Auto 5 has cashed in over 180 million dollars. That's more than all the Call of Duty games combined! (I was kind of in a hurry to put this one out. I just wanted t

Watch Dogs: Oh, the Irony

I'm sure some of you know about the upcoming Ubisoft game, Watch Dogs. The game let's you use hacking as a weapon to progress through the game. It's pretty much the main concept. Ironically, before this game's release date, something happened to the Ubisoft website. In June or July of this year, one of Ubisoft's websites were considered hacked. This led to all users of the site to be sent emails saying that their log-in info had to be changed. They also closed off any and all access to the site

Sonic Adventure 2: The Ultimate Life Form

In Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog was introduced into the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. He was said to be created as the Ultimate Life Form. However, at the end of the game, you fight the Biolizard, a giant red lizard which is said to be the prototype of the ultimate life form... That's always baffled me for some reason. How in the world do you go from giant-ass lizard to small black hedgehog? Who cares? Obviously SEGA didn't. Science had strange ways of working, wouldn't you say? BIO

Grand Theft Auto 5 is released TODAY!

Today is the official release date of Rockstar game's much-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 5. This was a game I was excited about ever since it was first announced. The game was orginally suppost to be released in April of this year, but the game was delayed so that they could add more things and fix some issues. I was a bit pissed, but I assumed it was for the best. I'm just glad it's finally out, and, I have to ask; ARE YOU GUYS AS EXCITED AS I AM?!?!?!

Tails Doll in a Sonic Comic

And here I thought Archie didn't have the guts to put it in. Most of the Sonic fanbase knows about the Tails Doll, but for those that don't know, I'll quickly fill you in. Tails Doll was originally one of the unlockable characters in the Sonic racing game, Sonic R (The soundtrack for that game is AWESOME, by the way. Though, the game itself isn't all that spectacular) Anyways, the Tails Doll has become quite a phenomenon in the gaming community as a whole. He's pretty much been transformed into

After the Trailer: Kingdom Hearts 3

Me and my friends all love the Kingdom Hearts series. Because of this, we were super hyped when Sony announced that Kingdom Hearts 3 was going to be released on their new PS4. Yes, this game is only going to be single platform, which I'm bummed about. But, I guess it makes sense. Kingdom Hearts is usually released on the Playstations, so I guess they're trying to stay with the program (Yes, I know about the Nintendo exclusives.) Anyways, the game itself looks awesome. The trailer shows all of t

5 Reasons Why: You Should Play Farcry 3

Welcome to the first 5 Reasons entry on the blog. This is where I take some sort of game, movie, or comic, and I list 5 reasons why you should or shouldn't play, watch, or read it. (These aren't top 5 lists, by the way. No reason is as important as the others.) These lists are going to be kind of long, so I hope you like reading So, let's begin.   1. Plot: I've played so many FPS's with a plot that is BARELY worth following, mainly from the COD franchise. But, Farcry 3 has a pretty decent pl

Canterlot Defender: Best Pony Flash Game Ever!

This entry should probably go somewhere like in Sugarcube Corner, but this is a blog about video games, movies, and comics. And, since I'm talking about a flash game, it technically counts. Anyways, Canterlot Defender is a fan-made Flash game that has been on DeviantART for quite a bit. What you do in the game is pretty strait forward; you're Twilight, and you have to shoot down an infinite army of changelings with her magic. You can only let a certain amount go by before you lose all your hear

Why Silver the Hedgehog Needs to be in More Games.

Let's talk about Silver the Hedgehog. Silver is a white psychokinetic hedgehog from the distant future. He can pick up things and fly in the air by simply just thinking about it. Just Silver's concept alone makes him sound like an awesome character. Granted, I don't like the game he originally came from, but that shouldn't mean he doesn't make an appearance in more Sonic games (And don't bring up multiplayer. That doesn't count.) He does have a few flaws, though. In 06, Silver's gameplay was su

The Amazing Spiderman 2: Back to Basics?

The Amazing Spiderman left a mixed impression on the Spiderman fanbase; Some people liked it and some people didn't. I, myself, thought the movie was pretty good. I still liked the original three movies better, though. The Amazing Spiderman just seemed too early for the franchise to get a reboot. Anyways, there has been a lot of controversy going into Spidey's next film, The Amazing Spiderman 2. Marvel seems to be going back to square one. They're getting the old suit back, Peter is going to st
