Innovations: Greyhound South Africa provides luxury service highway travel, something that once didn't exist in South Africa. Previously, all intercity bus services used secondhand older buses usually imported from Asia. Luxury Highway coaches of American or European origin were too expensive to purchase. Teaming up with Marcopolo of Brazil, Greyhound South Africa began to procure luxury highway coaches at a much lower cost. This coupled along with Greyhounds lower fares and Impressive safety record earned them increased business and the "People's Choice" award for South African Travel. Some of its buses tow a semi trailer which carries luggage, This allows for more passenger leg room because of smaller cargo bays.

Driving Dynamics: Greyhound South Africa makes use of South Africa's well maintiained paved road network which is the envy of its neighbors. Drivers undergo several weeks of training and then a few more weeks in a probationary status to observe progress. Excellent driver training has given Greyhound South Africa high marks for safety. The minor accidents that do occur, happen in major cities where that sort of thing is to be expected.
