Paint!

Bit more progress was made today, I managed to clear coat the frame and hang it up to cure for the next day or so.

I also stripped the stickers off my fork and then taped off areas not to be painted, then primed them with grey primer, along with the pedals and seat collar.

I went with a Lilac purple fo the colour coat....It's a really light colour, so it's taken quite a few coats to get adequate coverage.

And the other parts I painted.

Nice i'm in auto body and its comforting to hear your used clear coat. I have had to fix way to many paint jobs that people did at home with a spray paint bottle and did not clear it. They got to prime and paint but forgot clear and got weather damage. For the tape were you back masking with paper or just using tape?

Yea, I've painted my fair share of bike frames and forks. I always clearcoat. As for tape, I used blue painters tape with blocker.

I would have used white primer as it would have brought out the lilac more it still has a bit of the grey vibe to it

Yea, it would've been better, but grey is what I had on hand. Forks were originally black too.

For the future i would recommend picking up some black or white primer. White primer would help give the bright paint a more neon effect and the black primer would help to get a more matte finish to it. I find grey primer only use full for dark shades of the 3 primary colors.

I would, I just did this on the cheap with what I had on hand. The paint actually looks better in person. I've also applied a few more coats since these pics were taken.
