Intel Support Rant

Lost

It really pisses me off when something is wrong with my computer, it pisses me off even more if it's something I can't fix.

I've been having crashing problems on black ops 2 since day of release, when I looked through the error logs I found that prior to crashing my computer would log several hardware errors from my CPU, after trying every possible fix several times I decided to contact Intel on their website:

First attempt at contact - online live chat system:

Intel has an online support that let's you chat with a technical support person through live chat, I opted to try that first rather than sending an email, I waited for 2 hours with the page up, it just constantly told me that a support representative would be available to talk soon.

Second attempt - support ticket:

I decided to submit a support ticket, it stated that I would receive a confirmation email then within 1 working day I would recivevan email to give me the option to pass on my case to support or to useone of the FAQs, 3 days later and I've only received the confirmation email.

Intel support = terrible

If my CPU were cheap enough I would have just given up and bought another by now, but if it is fualty I'm demanding a free replacement, I ain't forking out another £250 -.-

I agree, I had to deal with Intel before and they got me so mad I just decided to boycott them and go for AMD instead. Best choice I ever made.

The problem probably isn't with your processor, more likely the game doesn't know what to do with it. You should lodge a ticket with Treyarch, not Intel. Given that the game was released less than a month ago, it would be prudent to wait another month or so for a patch that will likely address the problem. Never expect a lot from any PC game so soon after its release.

I've been an AMD guy for a long time but Intel has consistently made far better processors than AMD has since the conclusion of the Pentium 4/Athlon days. For me the performance sacrifice has always been heavily outweighed by the cost savings, but after Bulldozer's disappointing launch and being outperformed by its predecessor, I've since given up on AMD as far as processors go. They've regressed and therefore are no longer saving me anything. My next one will be an Intel. Don't even get me started on all of AMD's blunders on the graphics front. Suffice it to say that I'll be going nVidia next time, once again having to turn my back on AMD.

The error isn't just for black ops 2, it's just the example i chose as its the most common crash i have. I managed to talk to an intel support guy today who told me (after making me jump though various hoops) to run the intel stress test software, doing so gave me a bluescreen.

When i got back online i spoke to another support guy who told me that my CPU is defective and gave me a number to call to get a replacement, hopefully this all goes well and they can send me one out before i have to send them mine, cant be without my PC for a week while i wait on them.
