Manufacturer and Powerplant: Ethiopian Airlines is a long timer customer of Boeing and has hosted aircraft from Airbus and McDonnell-Douglas in the past. Ethiopian was one of the first airlines to purchase the Boeing 787 during its initial development in 2005. After the worldwide grounding of all Boeing 787s, Ethiopian was the first to resume normal service with its 787s and it is the only African carrier to operate them.

Frequent Flyer Program and First Class Arrangements: Ethiopian Airlines Loyalty Program is known as ShebaMiles (Named after the Queen of Sheba). First class passengers enjoy on demand movie and TV show programs on a 8 or 9 inch screen and a selection of hot meals from the on board food menu not available to passengers in coach.

Livery and Tail Flash: Ethiopian Airlines host the carriers call sign painted in red on a white backdrop. Like all members of Star Alliance, logos of the Star Alliance appear next to the main door. The tail flash hosts the colors of the Ethiopian flag and Sub-Saharan Africa in an arranged "Wing" pattern.

Innovations: Ethiopian has one of the best safety records of all African airlines and this is mostly attributed to newer aircraft and better trained pilots. Ethiopian suffered a few accidents due to hijackings but has since maintained the international standard of cockpit security.
