Characters Under The Microscope!

Hullo everyone.

I've finally come back to the forums after a few weeks of holiday bliss, and now I'm wondering to myself--what should I do with this? This, as in, this blog?

Thinking about the type of things I do on this site, I'm considering doing an OC/Character Showcase, where I take reader-submitted** characters and put them under the microscope--meaning, review them, consider the good and the bad, and basically do exactly what I do on my OC help thread, just condensed and more in the form of a review.
Or, maybe, I could look at the canon characters of mlp and put THEM under scrutiny. Maybe defend some characters, tackle theories, and offer my two-cents for future developments.

So, dear reader, what do you think? I know we've only just met, so it's hard to see what our future together will look like, but what kind of character-driven mlp blog would you be interested in reading? Please leave you opinions below!

Today's question, in addition to the main survey, is this: Which character in mlp do you think has most potential for storylines?

**Haha, what readers??

I think reviewing OC's is a lot of fun, not to mention it gives us a mutual understanding of how to develop a decent character for a show, a fanfic, a roleplay, and basically anything else inside the community. I'm personally trying to get into reviewing some myself, but I feel like I still need a lot more experience on the matter. A "Character Showcase" blog sounds really awesome~

(And on that note, you can totally review Vivid Clover for the blog if you ever feel like it. c:)

As for the day's question... I think this may be kind of an obvious answer, but in my opinion, Queen Chrysalis has a lot of potential that is yet to be explored. Her whole kingdom of changelings and their role and backstory in Equestria still remains a mystery for the most part.

I think this sounds like a fun idea :)

If you find yourself in need of some characters to get started, you're welcome to subject any of my OCs to examination :P

I guess, in order to do a good showcase, I'll need a variety of OCs with different strengths, weaknesses, roles, and contexts. :/ Hmm. I'm just on the fence about how to organize it all! Maybe I should request different types of OCs to critique first? (as in, villains, SOL, fanfic protagonists, heroes, etc)

What do you think?

Would be interesting to see how you would critique characters from the show

Hmm. Hmmmmmm. :/

It wouldn't be a critique, exactly, but just my thoughts on how they're used in the show. I'm afraid a blog like that may be a little uninteresting, unless it tackles theories and such.

I think that's a good idea. Maybe you could do some sort of challenge-like requests where people have to create specific types of OC's (villains, protagonists, etc.) in a limited amount of time (one/two weeks) for you to review and rate at the end.

Or maybe you could even gather some people and try to create worlds/universes based around those characters like a "creation group" or something. But maybe that's derailing a little bit. :P

You could say that, but ultimately, you are giving your own thoughts and opinions. So it all comes down to your own thoughts and taste. Sure you can give a few points to something that might be considered objectively good, such as meeting expected standards.

Those both sound like awesome (separate) ideas!

A creative group would be great, but I'd like it to be entirely separate from mlp and other fiction. :P
