Changing its name in 2014 from MetroTransit, Halifax Transit moves 27 million people a year as the largest transit operator in Atlantic Canada.

Manufacturer and Powerplant: Halifax Transit began to procure from New Flyer to phase out older NovaBus models opting for the Xcelsior Diesel variant. The Majority of its buses are powered by special blends of Biodiesel and some of its newer buses are hybrids operating on regular or special biodiesel.

Fare Collection: There is currently no Contactless Card Payment System in Halifax however there are plans to create one or implement one being used elsewhere. Passes are sold to students and seniors in addition to regular tickets.

Livery: Halifax Transit re-branded itself in 2014 keeping in line with the city re-branding as well. It possesses one of the most aesthetically pleasing liveries in North America. Hosting themes of Blue and Yellow in two alternating X patterns on a white backdrop along with the new agency logos.

Innovations: Halifax Transit is working with several tech companies to improve on its GPS tracking software to enable greater accuracy when using its trip planner technology.
