One of the great ironies of tech schools is that they are often pretty horrible at actually using technology to make their own operations more efficient. The problem is that while the teachers are technologically savvy, management and the rest of the administration are not.

Most likely, they are using some enterprise database system on the backend and no one in the administration has any clue how to use it except for the expensive consultants that they bring in from Oracle (or some similar enterprise monstrosity).
