The primary public transportation service in the Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska. People Mover serves Alaska's largest city of over 300,000.

Manufacturer And Powerplant: All of the buses in the People Mover fleet come from New Flyer with 5 D40LF units and the remaining units D40LFR's. All units are powered by diesel engines as the People Mover is not a large operation and diesel tends to have lower running costs and is the most practical fuel source for low temperatures.

Fare Collection: There Is No Contactless Card Payment System in Anchorage. The system is not large enough to justify the cost of creating and maintaining one so all fares are collected with cash or student fare card. The standard fare is $2 for adults, $1 for Children and Seniors and free to college students.

Livery: People Mover buses have are unpainted and have a white base coat and feature Blue and Green coast guard style racing stripes on the sides. The city phone number and company emblem also adorn the bus as well as slots for advertising space.

Innovations: People Mover is the biggest and most developed transit network in Alaska. It provides service in Anchorage as well as the suburbs of Birchwood and Eagle River. It does provide paratransit services to disabled citizens and has one part time route which travels further out during the rush hour.

LOL, when I clicked on "People Mover" I was expecting to see things like MetroMover in Miami, Detroit's people mover, and Jacksonville's Skytrain.  Still not a bad name for a bus agency when you think about it.

That is funny, i doubt such infrastructure would be practical there.
