Heavy Metal Blog Post #1

Metal, my personal favorite genre of music. I'm always looking to share my music with others and always willing to listen to other's. I know there are many bronies/pegasisters who listen to metal and make metal pony music, so why not make a place where we could share each with everypony. Doesn't matter as long as it's metal, roots of metal, history and influence is also allowed to be discussed here of course.

So for this first post, going with one metal song from each decade of music.
60's -

IN A GADDA DA VIDA by Iron Butterfly: Often argued as the first actual metal band, Iron Butterfly released this 17 minute classic in 1968. Leaning more on the psychedelic side in my opinion, but nevertheless an incredible song.

70's -

Child In Time by Deep Purple: One of the bands regarded along with Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin as the pioneers of metal that helped shaped metal into what it became later in the decade and in the 80's was Deep Purple. This song is timeless. Definitely blew my mind the first time I heard it and the solo is one of the best I've ever heard. Released in 1970.

Beneath the Remains by Sepultura: Sepultura was one of the bands that had a shadow cast over them by the Big 4 in the time of thrash and glam in the 80s. They were thrash/death metal and were incredible and still are today. This song is a thrash classic. Released in 1989

Losin' Your Mind by Pride and Glory: Southern Metal is something that is not really emphasized in metal because there aren't too many artists in the mainstream. Here's one from Pride and Glory released in 1994. A great track and Zakk Wylde killing it on guitar.

00's -

That I Never Had by Ozzy Osbourne: I had to put a more lowkey song in this blog. A song by one of the great, the Godfather of Metal, the Prince of Darkness, and my personal favorite artist/band Ozzy Osbourne. This is one of my favorite songs for him released on his 2001 album Down to Earth. A kick ass song with great guitar work from Zakk Wylde.

10's -

Embers by Lamb of God: Released on their most recent album "VII: Sturm Und Drang." This song is a definite heavy hitter. The drum track is incredible. Lamb of God is my fifth favorite band/artist of all time and with this work it's no surprise.

This will be the only time I will post this many songs in one entry or in the thread at all. I'll try to keep to less then 4 but wanted a good place to start. Feel free to give thoughts and share your music. :D
