From: The valor of discretion
"Discretion is the better part of valor." Something I was always told growing up but never quite understood. It wasn't until recently that its meaning really started to click, and it did hear naturally.
We see a lot that offends us these days, even if it's not personal offense sometimes people will say something that you feel a moral obligation to take a stand against to say something. Some people are seasoned debaters but for some of us, the back and forth can just get exhausting. Not only is it exhausting, it makes those very ideals you are defending seem more like burdens than things that bring you joy or a sense of identity.
So my advice, sometimes, especially on the internet, just let it be water off a ducks back. Now let me be clear, I'm not saying we shouldn't stand up for our beliefs or what we think is right, only that there are better ways to do that than furiously typing on a keyboard and better hills to die on than the Youtube comments and such.
Plus saving your energy by not knee jerking with every little niggle means, come time to actually load your guns and get talking, you won't be so mentally exhausted from already having done so multiple times in recent memory.
