Syren
Name: Syren
Age: 19
Gender: Stallion
Species: Unicorn
Description: At average height, Syren is only slightly taller than his best friend and captain, Virgil. Although, through most of their lives, Syren had been the smaller. His tail seems to be permanently ruffled, no matter what he does. Not that he ever seems to really worry about helping it.
The heart tattoo is the result of a very long night of drinking. Virgil has said that he tried to talk Syren out of it, but he's pretty sure his captain only encouraged it.
The goggles are an invention of his that combine tech and magic to pick up anything from transmission signals to heat signatures and everything in between. That said, they have a tendency to crap out every now and again. He's sure there's a short somewhere, but for the life of him, he can't find it.
His cutie mark is kind of cliche, but he's grown to accept it.
Personality: Carson is very level headed, especially in stressful situations. That said, he is in no way a very serious pony. He loves to make fun of his enemies, though it does serve tactical purposes as well. He's very loyal and dependable. He does what he says he will, no matter what it costs him. He always puts others first, whether it's his crewmates or civilians or his family. He always has an open mind, willing to hear a pony out before making any sort of decision.
Backstory:
Yet another result of the kind nature of Sergio the Soulless, Syren was well taken care of after the invasion. Both his parents survived, as his mother wasn't a fighter and his father was a cripple, having lost the use of his back legs in a logging accident that had nearly killed him back when Syren's mother was pregnant. Like the other foals of Puerto Seguro, he was taken under Sergio's wing which was how he met his lifelong friend and future captain, Virgil.
During their training, the two colts were often partnered together, finding themselves spending a lot of time together. Their personalities may've been vastly different in some aspects, but that only seemed to strengthen their friendship. It wasn't long before the two became inseparable, becoming a familiar sight around the town, causing the occasional ruckus. These usually came about due to Syren's technological inventions, whether they be drones, radios, or a bunch of other machines perfect for causing some trouble.
Obviously, when Virgil was given command of his own ship, he was going to place his best friend in the position of first mate. No pony else would've done. Syren's experience with technology was obviously another decisive factor, enabling The Ruthless Lass to quickly become one of the most advanced ships out on the seas.
