Rant about the new year

Nightfall

Ok, so I'll admit it: I don't really care for new year celebrations (at least right now). My reaction:

Why? It's a waste of time. Some of us here stay up to midnight almost every night already. I know, 'a new year is a new start,' but you could have a new start any time. I know and understand that we use years to help keep track of time, but do we really need to make such a big deal about a new one?

I just don't get it. To me, it's beyond reason. I'm not trying to offend people who love welcoming the new year, but I'm asking is it necessary to spend time outside for hours just to do so? (Maybe I'm having another moment...)

tl;dr Happy new year, but I don't get the point of the huge celebrations.

I have a hard time understanding that too.  Those people that go all out and stand outside in the cold, I don't understand.

I mean, why? Do it inside, if at all.

Outside, you just make a big ruckus and, if alcohol is involved, a fool of yourself. Inside, you offend no one, and no one has to listen to stupid fireworks.

well Night, I honestly think its a way of making a religious excuse to have a pointless party. religious meaning done every year of course, not actually saying this celebration is a religion based holiday. I mostly think its a way of letting go all of your past and saying "im starting a new" but never really start.

But Friday night doesn't work well enough? I mean, seriously...

As i do agree with you on all levels my friend, there are so to say, "sophisticated"  people who only party when its a "holiday" and such. pretty much people who like to party, but dont like to be told so.

once again, I completely agree with you.

There you go.

Settled. No more 'Lets have a big party for almost no reason' nonsense on New Year's Eve/New Year's Day.

I never do so. I simply watch the fools make a mess of them self on the news and wonder where our generation has gone.

I just laugh at them in my head while not watching and not caring.

hmm, maybe I should partake on this activity, it seems entertaining. :)

It is, especially if you are doing something else, which you will be.

Like, as an example, talking to a kind fellow on Mlpforums?

Or playing LoL and/or Portal, yeah.

I did that just before midnight.

I'm going to bed soon.

Bleh, I prefer COD 2 or some other 1st person shooter, those seem inadequate.

Whatever floats your boat, as long as we don't care together.

I do agree, that any day is a good day to make a new start, but I suppose any sort of celebration is good. It keeps people motivated, you know? It's the same thing with birthdays anyway.

But what do I know, I don't even celebrate it. I kind of wish I did.

I think New Year's is just an excuse for people to party and get drunk, and make silly New Year's resolutions that they will never even do so what's the point.
