Episode 3: The Swordsman of Sorrow or The Man Who Slays His Past
Brohoof's: 4.2/5 Content Rating: Filly
The first few scenes are heavy on dialogue, first reflecting on what has taken place, then more of a slight bonding experience between Kaoru and Yahiko, necessary to set the tone between them. The conversation provides a small inquiry about Kenshin's past. both characters draw similar conclusions that picture our hero as a wanted criminal. Although Kaoru knows a little of the legend of the Battosai, she would like to know more about his reasons for wandering. As Kaoru is about to confront Himura, he escapes. Soon after, the local police arrive at the dojo, looking for Kenshin. Kaoru sends little Yahiko to warn Kenshin. Meanwhile, a rogue bunch of police swordsman start harassing people on the street. The hero sends the girls accompanying him home, so he can deal with the matter at hand. Whilst sending the girls away, the rogue officers arrest a pickpocket, and those who defended him, including Yahiko, who happened on the situation. After a struggle the leader orders the public execution of them all. Before the first murder, the hero strides in, takes a stance, and proceeds to kick the flank of all of the unruly lawmen at once. With Kaoru and the rest of the local police finally caught up, a figure emerges from the police carriage. Because of some smart comments, the man is labeled as Arigato Yamagata, leader of the Meji army. Offered a Key military position, Kenshin declines, reaffirming his oath to never kill again, and the trio walk into the sunset, more playful then ever
