Continuing this small journal of character design Truth is taking the spotlight. And by that I mean Hoarfrost Truth and to explain all about him I want to take some time to explain the way I the foundation behind what I believe is a good story.

For me the concept to tell a story is the purpose, why do I want to create so many scenes in my head and dialogues between characters and all that stuff that goes in there. The reason for each writer is different, fame, fortune, a love interest, some deed, a personal promise are some of the reasons that come to my mind but they are as diverse as the writers behind them and when I cant just point each one of them I can tell you of my own.

The reason of me doing all of this to send a message, I know its vage so I'll explain I want to share part of my way of seeing life through an adventure than everypony can enjoy, my take on "high level stuff" like justice, equality, sexism, love and existence are behind details of characters, events and situations I describe and for me to achieve that is necesary to have characters that can fit into that kind of purpose.

Just as in the original show we all love the purpose of my story is guiding the design of it. In MLP we can say the original purpose is to show how friendship is a great way to make your life better (thats for me you don't have to agree) and because of that we see different traits, details and concepts in the characters to make that possible. In my story given all what I want to show I think there are other things to be considered. My purpose wants to show my view of things we all have to go through so because of that I need characters that can be considered "real" with motivations, origins and personalities that could be considered "legit" in terms of a world that lives in our imagination and hearts and our own.

And that bring us back to out stellar today (sorry for babbling around) Hoarfrost is and old experienced pony he could be considered the oldest of this "group" and a guide for the rest of them. With a story that bring him close to King Sombra and the Chrystal Empire he once held a deep grudge against Celestia herself but well just as many of us have learned and if not I hope you will life has a way to change certain points of view.

To bring all of this we used the general stuff to show his age, I have to say we tried different stuff to show his age but the normal stuff was by far more effective. Also we had some problems with his eyes, given the fact that he is blind the artist tried differences stuff but the concept of washed white eyes made the trick.

With a silent attitude and very reserved personality this stallion doesn't shows much but cares a lot for those ponies he consider close. He would save his words for the most important times and have always a lot in his mind.
