My Little Pony G1 Pilot Summary [Spoilers]
My Little Pony G...1?!?! But Lolnus, what are you saying? You can't possibly have watched that shit!
Oh yes I have, and it wasn't that bad. It was actually a little bit enjoyable.
The story is quite simple. Bad guy trying to kidnapp the little ponies and then take over the world and bring eternal darkness (does that last part sound familiar?).
The animation is obviously not as good as FiM's, but it was pleasing to the eye. I can't say the same about the voice acting though. It was... well, not terrible but it was bad. But the mane problem I had with the show was that there was new stuff going on all the time, so you didn't get that touch with the characters. I didn't even know the name of all the mane ponies before giant fire breathing dragons and a big hairy evil monster with demon wings came down from the sky and started kidnapping random ponies. I didn't even know the name of the ponies that were kidnapped, so I didn't really care about it.
The dragons take the two ponies they kidnapped to a big black evil castle somewhere. The purpose of the kidnappings is that this shows bad guy, who is a giant red centaur, is going to use the rainbow of darkness on the ponies to turn them into wicked beasts and bring forth eternal night (what's up with bad guys and eternal nights?). In order to stop him, the ponies need to find the rainbow of light.
With the help of a girl that this shows Rainbow Dash, "Firefly", randomly found when he was looking for help, they set out on their quest.
Who is that girl anyway? She just met that pony and she has never even seen a talking one before. I don't know about you, but I would be very sceptical if a talking pony suddenly came and said "Come with me on a quest to rescue my friends, whom you do not know at all. You will only have to face dragons, demons and centaurs!"
Maybe it's just me.
It doesn't take long before the party meets the Seaponies, famous for their "SHOO BEE DOO-ing". They don't really do much other that singing a song and giving the Human (forgot her name) a shell she can use to call them.
They look kind of retarded.
A tad bit further ahead they meet a little funny guy in a mushroom town. This guy is said to have the rainbow of light. He sings a little song while looking for it. He also uses magic to lift up some books. The reson I said this is because I instantly thought of Twilight's magic when I saw it (although he was using a wand). The song was nothing special (I might add that none of them are any good). He obviously finds the rainbow and gives it to the ponies. Nothing fun happened, we never see him again.
This is when they fight the bad guy. Here's a quick summary of the battle: The ponies are captured. He turns more ponies into monsters with that rainbow of his. The demon thingie with wings turn against the centaur boss. The centaur eventually beats him. And just when all hope is lost the girl releases the rainbow of light. There are big explosions, lightning and very low quality noises. The bad guy has been defeated. Hooray for the ponies!
Oh, and that big-furry-demon-with-wings-who-turned-against-his-master turns into a prince who looks like a king. I don't even know anymore.
This wasn't as good as FiM in any way, but it was ok. On a scale from 0-1600, where 1600 is average, 40 is bad, 1200 is great and 89 is amazing, I'd give it a clear 830/1600.
No but in all seriousness, it was ok for being an old show. I might watch another episode the next time I'm super bored.
