Is the Game Boy Color being forgotten?

So, I've been thinking about it recently, and who ever talks about the Game Boy Color? I mean, sure, the two Pokémon trilogies of the time ran on it, but when do non-Pokémon Game Boy Color games ever get brought up? Whenever I see talk about Nintendo handhelds, it's about the original Game Boy, the Game Boy Advance, and the DSes. What is it about the Game Boy Color that makes people never bring it up? It has its fair share of memorable games that aren't Pokémon. The Zelda "Oracle of" games and Wario Land 3 to name a few. But whenever somebody says "Game Boy Color", the subject is Pokémon. Add Game Boy-compatible games with Game Boy Color enhancements, and the list only grows.

So, what's up? Where's the Game Boy Color love? At least it's not forgotten as much as the Game Boy Micro. Which makes me realize I really wish I had a Game Boy Micro, because who the heck has one?

That's an interesting thought actually. I didn't have many games for my Gameboy Pocket when I was younger and as far as I know there also weren't very many games on it. Sure, one can probably list a ton of games for for many people the GBC was like...just a transition from GB to GBA. Or it could be that people remember games like Resident Evil Gaiden which....no one seemed to like. That and the GBA overshadowed all of the previous GB generations with its (at the time) super graphics and all these amazing games and even a PS1 remake on it. (Rayman Advanced)

I'd say it was mostly due to that last point. The GBA blew people's minds and a lot of people probably started with that as opposed to the GB in the late 80s and early 90s.

When most people say "GameBoy", they mean GBC. At least, most people I know do this, because GBC was kinda the golden age of the GB before the GBA came around.

Well, I've been playing Link's Awakening DX on and off on my 3DS, if that helps... wish I could play some of my actual GB/GBC games, but the only thing I have for that is my non-backlit GBA with a barely working d-pad though.

True, a lot of people say "Game Boy" when they mean the Game Boy Color. But think about it: When somebody brings up how good the Game Boy was, they bring up Tetris, Super Mario Land, y'know, original Game Boy games.
