Long story short, they don't want to run the activation severs for it anymore, so it's free right now. You just have to sign up for a free Adobe account. It is legit, I've downloaded Photoshop and Illustrator already(link goes to an article about it, which links to the right place on the Adobe site)

Update: it works, even on Win8

i'm sure Adobe made CS1 open source too, right?

anyway, it's useful, but i'm unsure if such an ancient version of Photoshop holds up well today. well, it's better than having to rely on MS Paint, at least!

Too bad I use Ubuntu. Or is CS2 compatible with Linux distros? Last I heard it wasn't, but maybe I'm wrong.

I assume if you use a WinOS emulator of some kind if would.

does CS2 have lesser system requirements? it might be a good alternative for people with low-end computers to use, though i'm unsure what services CS2 had back then (if Premiere, Illustrator, AND Photoshop is free, then a poor man's computer might find some use for them!).

Yeah, ALL the CS2 era stuff is free.

I thought they were for the ones who already brought CS2 only.

Not that I've seen, they're letting anyone download it and not asking for any key-codes they haven't provided on the page.

I think that bit in the info may have just been ass-cover of some kind so no-one could deem it abandonware, since it's been like this for months and they haven't bothered to fix it or take steps to restrict downloads.
