Who wants a blog post about my life?
*Crickets*
Okay then, here we go!
Once upon a time, I was born. Some time later... Maybe a few hours, maybe the better part of two decades, I dunno... I went to college. It was a new experience. I had had a very tiny bit of exposure to college life when I dual enrolled at a community college during my senior year of High School.
Of course, that's different. I lived at home, I ate Momma's home cookin', I slept in my own bed. But another huge difference was the classes themselves. I am now at the Georgia Institute of Technology, better known as Georgia Tech. In case you didn't know, Georgia Tech is ranked ninth on the list of the world’s top engineering and technology universities and third on the list of public U.S. engineering and technology universities. As they say, great power comes with... Grueling work... Or something.
What I found when I came here is that the community college I had attended during High School in no way prepared me for what I was to experience in a higher level college. In fact, the sudden shock of being completely swamped by coursework that was beyond my level took its toll on me in a big way. No time - plus fear (and actuality) of failure - plus a completely new environment led to depression as soon as two days into the semester.
Have things improved since then? Yes. Is everything better? No. After fiddling around with my class schedule I have been able to breathe a little easier, even if it means that I won't finish college in four years (which is apparently a common occurrence at Tech).
So here's the bottom line, in case you've made it this far (thanks for that, by the way). I'm still here. I'll always be here. I'm not going anywhere and I'm going to be my usual cheery self. I just won't post quite as much as I used to.
