The most rushed ending ever?!

I read the most rushed ending to a book ever today. It's called "Harrison Bergeron". Basically, it's about a dystopian society where everyone has to be equal in every way, shape, and form. Although one kid, named Harrison Bergeron, tries to change that. It all goes well at first. For most of the book it goes well. Then at the last paragraph, some person walks into the room Harrison was in with a double barreled ten gauge shotgun and shoots Harrison dead. And that's the end. That was the most rushed ending since Romeo and Juliet, which said, "and they all died" as the last sentence. But I would say that "Harrison Bergeron" is a story you may want to check out. :) Anyways, thanks for reading! Post your questions in the comments below and they may get featured in my next entry! And as always, I'll see you all in the next blog!

While I haven't read that story in ages, if I recall correctly, the story is very purposefully supposed to end shortly and curtly. It's sort of an allegory for the apotheosis of extraordinary persons being ended by the sometimes-forced "equality" of the modern age, and individuality being curtailed by the ever-encroaching levels of totalitarianism.

It's a very complicated story crammed into a very short burst of words, yes, but I think it's very interesting, especially considering that most of the other things Kurt Vonnegut wrote were less straightforward and more messy.

Romeo and Juliet wasn't really THAT rushed...some parts were lengthy. I thought the story itself as sad and sweet, because Romeo thought his loved one died. Only if he waited a few more minutes....
But what baffled me was how you can love someone after a few hours of meeting each other...I mean what are they, naive middle schoolers? D:<

Ahem....I never read the book, but I know the feel on rushed endings. :(

That's the part where the vast majority of people misinterpret the story. All the events that befall the two are ways of the Bard displaying the punishments for naivete, hastiness, and shortsightedness of youth.

Most people see a tragic love story, where in reality, it's actually a bitter comedy lampooning how foolish the young can be when they think they feel "love."
