Why People With Autism Can Have Melt Downs

Because of this story I decided to make a youtube video talking about why people with Autism can sometimes have melt downs. I know the issue wasn't entirely about that and most peoples negative reactions do not even begin to compare but this story cannot help but remind me of that.

Source: Letter tells family to "euthanize" autistic boy for being a "nuisance".

Thank you for this video.

The biggest problem I have with telling people I have asperger's syndrome is that they just assume I'm a terrible, unfun person just because I have it. People assume too many things, and find too many things to get offended over. Their justification is usually "common sense" or their religion, but they never bother to actually research whatever it is they hate and at least attempt to be less prejudiced against people that are things they don't like. You'd think that after thousands of years of human development that wouldn't happen, but nope, things are different.

Peoples ignorance can be frustrating at times but for my sake as well as others who are living with Autism I am not letting it discourage me. There are people who will never understand because they don't want to, I won't deny that but there are also people that are confused by all the conflicting information out there and I think those people can be reached. That is what drives me to make videos like that and to write this book about my experience with Autism. There are a lot of parents and others out there that want the truth and I will do what I can to give it to them.

I would like to echo what Daring said, Thank you! Also I know for a fact quite very well that people can have meltdowns, I had TWO just recently. But I agree with you, I don't let my Autism discourage me. People said I would never move out of my parents home, well I proved them wrong, I did, and I have a wife and two kids (one step and one is mine)...

It sure is satisfying to prove people wrong isn't it? Congratulations on your success, I did live in an apartment with a room mate for a while but bought a house with my Dad after he lost his in order to help him out. My Mom who was also on hard times (they were divorced) also moved in with us, my Dad passed away last year so it is now just me and Mom. I haven't had much luck with dating yet in large part because pressures from work, school and taking care of my dialysis patient Dad haven't left me with that much time. I will get there though, there are some bad things happening in my life right now but also a lot of good things that will change things for the better.

You know what? Despite my mental illness and some physical problems with my right arm, I'm still confident that I'll be able to land a job in the networking world. I'm not even done with my education yet and my last Cisco teacher already complimented me on my ability to learn router commands and get things done quickly. She even encouraged me to help out other students who were struggling in labs I completed with ease. I am confident that I will overcome my disabilities and do well in the business world.
