• Backstory

  Thunder Gust was a simple pegasus colt in Ponyville who didn't like to fly and was bullied relentlessly for it. After spending a stormy night in the Everfree Forest with his childhood friend Ana, he was inspired by the speed of the chaotic lightning bolts and was filled with renewed determination to become a fast flier, despite the condescending taunts at school.

   Gust pulled himself out of the pony pile, glad that he seemed to have landed on something soft. After getting his bearings, he noticed all the newcomers around them. He didn't recognize them all, but he remembered seeing some of them at the party before Chrysalis appeared. He did recognize Vibrant, who he and Ana had been talking to when things got interesting. Let's see, they had been looking at. . . uh oh. Gust paled a little as he turned back to the door they had all just come through. He pulled on the two stones he had placed into the door and was glad to see them slide out easily. There was no force sealing them in place. That didn't make him feel much better as he walked up to Vibrant and held out the stones to him. "I, uhh. . . I think I broke your lantern."

   "Sure," Gust nodded in agreement. "Let's see what all this fuss is about a door." He walked over to join the others at the door and saw all the indentations filled with the various gems that everyone had been finding. Well, almost all the indentations. There were a couple still empty that he easily recognized the shape of the objects they required. He pulled out the two stones from Vibrant's broken lantern and inserted them into the two slots, where they fit perfectly.

   Listening to the squabbling on either side of him, Gust didn't move from his spot, though his expression slowly changed from confusion to resigned annoyance. "Domestic troubles it would seem," he deadpanned in response to Ana's question. How did I end up here? he thought to himself.

   Gust had to adapt after Star Silk's change of course to get between her and Frostbite, but that course also brought them closer to him. That was fortunate, because his run had slowed a little as he watched the situation unfolding. Between her hood coming down, revealing who was underneath, and her attitude toward Frostbite, the whole situation was losing its air of danger and leaving him much more confused. After another glance at Frostbite, he arrived between them and braced himself for whatever they would throw at each other.

   Gust saw Frostbite dash toward the cloaked Star Silk and hesitated for a moment. This wasn't the first time today that a changeling had tricked him, but he was fairly certain he knew which one was acting more like a changeling if either one of them was. He lunged forward as well, sprinting to get between the two ponies if he could. He flapped his wings in order to get as much speed as he could to cover the distance first, but his hesitation had given Frostbite a noticeable lead. He changed his target, now running directly at Frostbite, intending to collide with him and knock him off course.

   Gust made his way back to the fork in the paths, intent on heading all the way back to the cottage, and noticed everyone seemed to have gathered a short way down the other path. He could feel the tension in the air as he approached the group, or rather the two groups. Magloria and Frostbite were a safe distance away from the others and, upon coming a little closer to the two groups, the mistrust was clearly visible in their expressions.
   "What's going on here?" he asked. Though the question wasn't directed at either group in particular, his gaze fell more on the kirin and the icy mare.

   "I don't see anything out there, not at the moment anyway," Gust said as he turned to take a closer look at the shattered glass around them and the broken lantern nearby. "Hey, is that? That's Vibrant's lantern. It even still has those strange glowing stones inside." He reached down to pick them up. "Let's make sure to ask him about them later. For now, I think we should focus on getting out of here." He turned back the way they came, landing on the ground again once he was safely outside the area covered in glass. "Anya, what do you say we head back and see if anypony else has found anything."

   Gust followed Ana into the darkened path, keeping his eyes focused on their surroundings in case of danger. If there were more changelings in here, he wasn't about to let them get the jump on him. But there were no more changelings in sight. There was nothing new in sight, just the constant root walls and the darkness at the edge of Ana's light. Until- "Watch out!" he called out when they came upon shattered glass scattered over the ground. "Watch your step," he said to Ana before lifting into the air to avoid it himself. Instead of investigating the broken glass or its source, he decided to let Ana have a look while he stood guard, again peering as far as could see into the maze.

    "I'm fine," Gust reassured Ana, "it's just a scratch." He looked over himself and winced. "A few scratches, I guess, but they'll heal. What about you Anya, are you hurt?" He let out a chuckle. "You know, for a second there, I actually thought they had. . . " The humor left his voice as his smile faltered. "I thought. . . " His gaze fell for a few seconds before he regained his composure and forced a smile back onto his face. "Sorry, it's nothing," he said, though the worry in his eyes told a different story.

   OOC: Oh my gosh, lovelies, I am laughing so hard at how bad my art is. Just bear with me... It's essentially a giant garden with mazes and lots of tables with a banquet of food -- what do you mean you don't see the food yet?! Help us set it up D:  *gigglefits* just kidding!
   
   Storyline:
   
   As your OC arrives from the personal invitation they've received, they look around for their matched pair. 
   
   There are several things they can do in this location.
   
   They can:
   
   Keep exploring in search of their match
   
   Help out with the party decorations for the gathering
   
   Go into the garden maze in search for flowers
   
   Do something else.
   
   It's entirely up to your OC and your match. Please refer back to the letter you've received for some hints. Also, if you are seeing this but have not received the final card with your match, please know that it is arriving soon. Many members applied so sending them out takes time.
