    Granite Rose is a gray stallion with thick black hair. He has emerald green eyes and a red rose for a Cutie Mark.

  • Backstory

    As a small child, Granite Rose was diagnosed with schizophrenia after his hallucination known as “Thorns” convinced him to slice a large gash in his arm. After the diagnosis, Granite was encouraged to engage in activities that would help him calm down and stay grounded. He eventually took to gardening after his parents let him plant some flowers in their backyard. His caring and understanding nature towards plants soon earned him his Cutie Mark.

    Once Granite was old enough and healthy enough to move out, he set off to Sire’s Hollow to become a florist. He started the business at home and eventually grew it enough to make the occasional business trip. 

  • Key Moments

    - Granite spent some time in a psych ward as a foal, where he ended up being diagnosed and treated for schizophrenia. 

    - Granite earned his Cutie Mark the first time he planted a red rose.

    - Granite went out with a mare named Indrimea as a teenager but the couple only lasted a few months before both ponies lost interest in each other.

    - Granite got to see his favorite band, "Deth Pone", in concert when he was 17. He was lucky enough to catch a guitar pick while he was there.

    - Granite was admitted to the ward again as an adult since he was struggling to handle his schizophrenia all by himself. Once he was released, his parents moved to Sire's Hollow to keep a close eye on him. 

  • Personality

    Granite Rose is a patient stallion for all except Thorns, his hallucination. Dealing with Thorns’ sharp commands and fear tactics can aggravate him, but this rarely affects his patience towards others. He often tries to be understanding of others since he wants others to be understanding towards him. He is also a bit shy around new ponies, but is willing to open up to them if he feels like he can trust them.

    Granite also enjoys the outdoors more than anything. He loves swimming in lakes and jogging through forests. Nature always makes him feel at peace, so he goes outside whenever he gets the chance.

    When Granite is having a bad day, he goes to his best friend, Pencil Pouch, to talk. She is the only pony he confines in because he knows she won’t judge. Talking to others is difficult for him since his experiences aren’t relatable to most, so he is grateful he has a friend like Pencil.
