Physical Description

Granite Rose is a medium gray stallion with thick black hair. He has emerald green eyes and a simplified red rose for a Cutie Mark. His hallucination Thorns is similar to him in appearance except his eyes glow white and are streaked with black tears, and his Cutie Mark is a red rose tangled up in thorns.
Backstory

As a small child, Granite Rose was diagnosed with schizophrenia after his hallucination known as “Thorns” convinced him to slice a large gash in his arm. After the diagnosis, Granite was encouraged to engage in activities that would help him calm down. He eventually took to gardening after his parents let him plant some flowers in their backyard. His caring and understanding nature towards plants soon earned him his Cutie Mark.

Once Granite was old enough to move out, he set off to Sire’s Hollow to become a florist. While he still struggles with Thorns’ demands, he is still able to find enjoyment with nature and friends.
Key Moments

- Granite Rose was diagnosed with schizophrenia after he created a deep gash in his right arm that sent him to the hospital

- Granite was sent to the psych ward for some time to help him. While he learned to understand his condition, a few of his fears may have resulted from ponies constantly observing him. He also met a pony who was in the ward for extreme OCD named Ambriea. Unfortunately, they were only friends during childhood as they grew apart over time.

- On a day where Granite had a bad episode and had cuts all over, Pencil Pouch came over and bandaged him up.
Personality

Granite Rose is a patient stallion for all except Thorns, his hallucination. Dealing with Thorns’ sharp commands and fear tactics can aggravate him, but this rarely affects his patience towards others. He often tries to understand others since he would want someone to be understanding towards him. He is also a bit shy around new ponies, but is willing to open up to them so long as Thorns doesn’t twist their intentions towards Granite.

Granite also enjoys the outdoors more than anything. He loves swimming in lakes and jogging through forests. Nature always makes him feel at peace, so he goes outside whenever he gets the chance.

When Granite is having a bad day, he goes to his best friend, Pencil Pouch, to talk. She is the only pony he confines in because he knows she won’t judge. Talking to others is difficult for him since his experiences aren’t relatable to most, so he is grateful he has a friend who is understanding.

ExplosionMare: I’m opening up asks, so why don’t you guys introduce yourselves?
Pencil: Okay! I’m Pencil Pouch, the purple unicorn in ExplosionMare’s profile picture, but here’s a better one anyways:

Um, I like drawing, writing, hanging out with friends, and various other things (I forgot what those were, heh). Uh, that’s all I have to say, right?
ExplosionMare: Yep, you’re good!
Granite: Okay, I guess it’s my turn. Hi, I’m Granite Rose. My picture is right here:
My hobbies are gardening, sketching, listening to music, and doing anything outdoors. Uh, that’s it, you can move on now!!
ExplosionMare: Um, aren’t you forgetting somepony?
Granite: Nope!!
ExplosionMare: Look, I know you’re scared, but he’s part of this ask, too. He has to come out.
Granite: Ughh! Fine! Okay, before he decides to show up, let me tell you a bit about Thorns. He’s, to put it simply, somepony only I can see. He’s also...not pleasant. But, well, I guess I’ll have to bring him out anyways for this ask. Just remember that if you do ask him anything, I’ll have to answer for him. He only talks in—
Thorns: Escape from here. Leave nothing behind. Let pain fade away.
Granite: Aaand, this is what I was talking about. Not great for conversation. *siggghhhh* Since I have to speak on his behalf, his hobbies include staring through my soul, speaking in a strange three sentence pattern, and convincing me to do bad things to myself on a daily basis. Yay. Now, so I can stop talking about him, here’s his picture:
