  Dusk Haven is an alicorn of graceful stature, standing slightly taller than Luna but shy of Celestia’s height. Her coat is a smooth blend of smoky periwinkle and icy lavender. Her wings are broad and powerful, with a permanent indigo feather in her left wing — a gift of rebirth tied to Luna’s magic.

  Her mane and tail flow in soft waves, resembling skies at the twilight hour: a rich gradient of periwinkle, violet, midnight blue, and warm pinks, threaded with a faint starlit shimmer. The effect is gentle and calming — not as radiant as Celestia’s or wild like Luna’s, but quietly luminous, like the moment the sky exhales before night.

  Her eyes are a deep, vivid violet, observant and calm, often carrying the weight of someone who’s stayed when others left.

  Her cutie mark is a six-petaled, star-shaped lily, with petals starting as deep purple at the tip, then fading into light blues and pinks at the base. At its center lies a radiant star with a spiral of orange, indigo, and lavender.

• Backstory

  Dusk Haven was born an alicorn in an alternate universe from the known MLP world. A creature of twilight and liminality — not of day nor night, but of the space between.

  Her first great deed came when wendigos threatened Equestria. Calling upon the power of twilight itself, she fought the Wendigos as ponies found Harmony again. The clash of her magic, harmony magic, and Wendigo magic created the Stilled Veil, a liminal sanctuary where the borders between worlds softened. Within the Veil, grief could be tended, memories preserved, and solace found.

  Dusk wears an enchanted cloak she created to prevent other ponies from knowing her true species. She fears political upheaval and confusion throughout the world if she were to make herself known as another Alicorn. She works in shadows and small towns off the beaten path.

  Over time, she drew close to Princess Luna. What began as companionship deepened into love. Luna named her Little Star in their first night of intimacy, a title that became the most cherished part of Dusk’s identity. Their bond was not only passion but also domestic tenderness — shared meals, laughter, whispered promises in the dark. Luna defended her openly at court when she was forced out of hiding defending ponies, along with Luna, during an attack, naming her an advisor even as nobles sneered. Celestia, though wary, allowed the closeness to continue in silence.

  But jealousy and fear festered in Equestria. The zealots of the Order of the Eternal Sun whispered poison into noble courts, deepening Luna’s isolation until it birthed Nightmare Moon. Dusk stood at her side, nearly binding her back from the abyss, but Celestia struck with the Elements of Harmony a heartbeat too soon. Luna was banished, and Dusk was left broken.

  Grief consumed her. In grief turned to wrath, she hunted and slaughtered the Order of the Eternal Sun, leaving no survivors. Legends later remembered her not as a grieving avenger, or her acts of healing, but as a ghostly monster — Bloodmare, Frozen Heart. Wracked with guilt, she tried to unmake herself within the Stilled Veil, entering centuries of stasis.

  Though scarred, her heart still beats for Balance. She carries Luna’s memory like a star in her chest, and though reconciliation with Celestia is fraught, she stands beside her to mend the rift in night and day. At last, when Luna returns, she will walk the path of redemption not just for herself, but for them both.

   Dusk froze mid-bite of a caramel apple pastry, her one true weakness when her name was called. She turned slowly, the pastry still hovering beside her, eyes wide with disbelief.
   She didn’t even realize she carried it all the way to the stage until she caught the stares... then promptly slurped the rest of it down in the most un-royal fashion imaginable.
   She cleared her throat, sugary crumbs and all, and looked out over the crowd — not just at the winners, but every mud-streaked, leaf-covered racer who had made it to the end. Her voice, when it came, was soft but steady.
   “To me, this race was never about winning — or even about shaking the most leaves from the trees. It was about being here. Actually running, for the first time, is something I’ve only ever watched from the edges. For centuries, I stood beside the trail and cheered as others ran, fell, laughed, and returned home. All while consealing what I am. I was proud of them. And this year… I wanted to try what it felt like to be one of them — to meet new ponies, to belong for a little while, instead of just observing, but as myself”
   She paused, smiling faintly, a touch wistful.
   “My mother once told me: if I ever wore a crown, I should know when to take it off. That a princess, a Steward of ponies, must walk beside others, not above, them. I’ve spent my long years healing the sick, helping small villages, trying to live by that. So to be here — to run, to laugh, to win…” She huffed a breath of disbelief. “It means more to me than I can put into words.”
   She took another breath, steadier this time.
   “But — I can’t accept first place. Because there was someone else here who acted beyond pride, beyond competition. Somepony whose honor spoke louder than any number of leaves. And he didn’t nearly give @Nitobit Moonlight a heart attack in the process.”
   A ripple of laughter moved through the crowd. She smiled.
   “So, with respect to the @Dynamo Pad panel and their maticulous leave counters, I’d like to offer first place to @Samurai Equine. He earned it and I happily yield.
   Dusk stepped back, head bowed in quiet sincerity — pastry crumbs and all.

   Dusk listened as they spoke, her posture relaxing further with each shared memory. The way Skylight’s nervousness dissolved into laughter made her smile quietly behind the rim of her teacup.
   “Ah,” she murmured, setting the cup down with a soft clink. “That sounds exactly like one of Pinkie’s parties.” The humor in her voice was gentle, genuine — she’d clearly attended a few herself.
   Twilight’s ears perked. “You were there for some of those, weren’t you, Dusk? The post-coronation celebrations?”
   Dusk nodded faintly, a small glint of memory passing through her eyes. “Pinkie has a way of reminding ponies that life is meant to be celebrated. It’s… refreshing.”
   She turned her gaze back toward Skylight, studying the younger alicorn’s open expression. “Science and magic,” Dusk said softly. “A fine pairing. Understanding and wonder. Some ponies forget they are each so important to the other.”
   Her tone held the calm of twilight skies, but the edges had softened into warmth. “Perhaps someday,” she added, a trace of intrigue in her voice, “you’ll show me some of what the two of you have worked on?”
   Twilight practically glowed at the idea, already half-ready to fetch notes and diagrams. Dusk’s amused glance stopped her — a silent promise that there would be time for that later.
   For now, the tea steamed between them, the afternoon light fading into that perfect hour where day and night met — and for the first time, the air around Dusk felt entirely at ease.
   Dusk’s gaze lingered on Skylight for a heartbeat. The question wasn’t invasive — it was sincere, and that sincerity deserved an honest answer.
   “I am,” she said after a moment, voice low and measured. “Though ‘healer’ means many things depending on the day.”
   Her eyes drifted briefly to her reflection in the teacup — violet meeting faint ripples of twilight-colored light. “Sometimes it means mending the body. Other times, it means tending to the spirit — helping ponies remember who they were before the world asked too much of them."
   She looked up again, that calm smile returning. “As for teaching… I teach primarily defense.” Her tone wasn’t sharp — only matter-of-fact. “Any pony can hurt another, but to learn to protect yourself and others while still winning the day? That is a skill not found as often as it should.”
   She tilted her head slightly, curious in turn. “And you, Skylight? When you speak of science and magic, what stirs your heart most — the discovery, or the understanding?”
   The question wasn’t a test; it was gentle, almost coaxing — as though Dusk wanted to glimpse what light Skylight carried beneath all that nervous sweetness.
   Dusk couldn’t help it — a laugh escaped her, quiet but genuine, the kind that warmed rather than startled. “Cute and adorable, hmm?” she said, glancing between them with raised brows. “I can see that.”
   Twilight’s grin widened, triumphant. “Told you!”
   Dusk gave her a mock look of disapproval. “You really do conspire against your friends, don’t you, Twilight Sparkle?”
   That earned her a playful nudge from Twilight’s wing as she passed another scone around. Dusk accepted hers, breaking it in half with a faint shimmer of magic. “For the record,” she continued, her tone deliberately casual now, “I think helping others the way you do is just as important as saving Equestria. In fact, those small acts may save Equestria someday. We never know how far our kindness will reach.”
   She took a bite, leaned back slightly, and smirked at Skylight — a small, knowing smile that held no pretense of royalty. “Besides, I think Twilight’s right. You do have that sort of charm about you. It’s disarming.”
   Twilight laughed into her tea. “Careful, Dusk, or she’ll start blushing again.”
   “I’d hardly call that a bad thing,” Dusk replied, her tone light and teasing. The faint shimmer of starlight in her mane brightened as she relaxed, the regal glow giving way to something far more alive — a warmth that came from laughter, not legend.
   Twilight set her teacup down with a soft clink, eyes darting toward the kitchen. “Speaking of charm, I should probably check on those extra scones before Spike decides they’re his dinner.”
   She stood, feathers ruffling as she stretched. “Don’t get too comfortable without me!”
   Dusk made a mock-solemn gesture with one hoof. “No promises.”
   Twilight’s laugh trailed off down the corridor, leaving the room wrapped in that pleasant hush that follows laughter. The afternoon light had turned golden-rose, spilling over the table and scattering off the teacups.
   Dusk leaned back in her seat, shoulders easing, the faint shimmer of her mane settling into a relaxed drift. “She’s incorrigible in the best ways possible,” she murmured, amusement still in her eyes, and she makes good tea. Luna often calls me 'insufferable' in a loving way. I admit, she is right."
   She glanced toward Skylight, a more natural smile curving her lips now — the kind that carried no ceremony, only warmth. “You’re good for her, you know,” she said, tone casual but sincere. “Twilight doesn’t often let herself relax around new ponies.”
   For a heartbeat, she seemed to study Skylight again, though this time her gaze was gentle, almost curious in a friendly way. “I can see why she likes you.”
   The words came easily now, her earlier formality replaced by quiet humor and the easy cadence of somepony genuinely enjoying the company.
   Dusk rested her cup back onto the saucer, the faint sound delicate in the soft hush of the room. Her expression remained open, her tone unhurried and kind.
   “You know,” she said gently, “Twilight tends to surround herself with ponies who challenge her. It’s rare she brings somepony into her circle who simply soothes her.”
   She leaned slightly forward, her forehooves folding loosely in front of her. “You seem to do that just by being near her.”
   Her eyes flickered with curiosity, not study — genuine interest. “Tell me, Skylight,” she continued, her voice softening as though speaking to a friend rather than another Alicorn, “what do you do when it’s just you? When you’re not studying, helping, or carrying somepony else’s worries?”
   Her smile grew faint but warm. “Everypony needs something that’s theirs alone. Something quiet that keeps the heart steady.”
   Dusk tilted her head just a touch. “For me, it’s cooking — not the grand kind, just little meals. Fleeting moments. It helps me remember why the world is worth saving in the first place.”

   “Have you now?” she said, a trace of amusement in her tone. “Alicorns have become far more open with the world of late—though some of us have walked among ponies for quite some time. I’m glad to see it. No one should ever have to hide who they are. And the more of us who step into the light, the less we seem like distant myths, you know?”
   She paused just long enough to turn and buck a tall maple tree. The branches shivered, sending a rain of leaves down around them—along with a small splatter of sap that tangled itself in her mane. Dusk blinked, then laughed under her breath.
   “As for my mane,” she continued, brushing at the sticky strands with a hint of mock exasperation, “I was never truly upset about it. Like Luna, I sometimes... overproject. I come off sterner than I intend—especially with your friend, Moonlight.” Her expression softened. “When his ears fell and that look of ‘Am I in trouble?’ crossed his face, my heart just sank. At most, Luna will tease me for it later—and make me let her pay for my mane treatment. She insists it must smell nice for cuddles.”
   Her eyes gleamed with quiet humor as she added, “Perhaps your pink pegasus friend, Silky, would approve of that, hm?”

   Dusk hears thundering hooves coming from behind and moves from a trot to a gallop. A quarter mile down, she slowed and veered to the side, bucking a few trees. She moved gracefully from one tree to another and took off once more.

   October 17

   I try to enforce a moral code in relation to my glamour magic. I won't imitate another pony alive or dead, but I created an entirely new look for the few times I had no choice but to interact with ponies who might know me. I would point to Autumn Reed as a good example.
   To your second point, traveling by hoof takes a long time, and the world is large. I rarely visited the same village twice in a pony's lifetime.
   The further you get away from the city, the more culture changes you experience. Ponies out that way aren't used to help from the capital. Communication in those days was slow. So they learned to fend for themselves. It's why I chose to stay in those outer rim places. I could help more. All the races I encountered had one thing in common. They all wanted Harmony. What that looked like varied sometimes, but generally, we all had that in common. I remember learning how to cook several delightful dishes from the ponies just north of Galloping Gorge.
   It was an honor to teach there. So many talented and gifted ponies came through on the regular. I learned from them how to stay young at heart, and I taught them how to survive in the world with Magic and wits. Twilight, oh dear Twilight, I remember when she was a young thing, maybe 7 or 8, she tried to make a tiny whisp for Nightmare Night. Instead, it shot into the sky and exploded into sparks. Her poor mane was frizzled, and there was a small bit of smoke coming from the tip of her horn. She put too much fear into the spell. She was afraid of failure, and that time, she did. She learned that night to pour calm and love into spells like these. She conjured it fine after that. The delight on her face was precious.
    
   Earning your Alicorn status is better than being born into it, in my opinion. When you are given it, there is a lot of time figuring yourself out, your duty to the world, and how far you can go without becoming a tyrant or disrupting Harmony or the Balance itself. Not all naturally born Alicorns are good, like Opaline. When you earn it, you've refined those skills, so you get the power when you mostly have an idea what to do with it. You don't have to wrestle with your own identity. That's just my opinion, though

   I froze as the rope slipped from my grasp, vanishing into the dark as if it had never existed. The air around me thickened, soundless, still, pressing close. I exhaled slowly and steadily. “Lovely. All right, then,” I whispered into the quiet. “We do this the old way.”
   The ground beneath my hooves was soft, tangled with roots slick from condensation. I crouched low, feeling with the edge of one hoof, tracing how the roots curved. They all bent slightly in one direction, drawn toward something. Water, maybe, or open air. I turned that way.
   Each step I took was deliberate. The primaries on my wings brushed the vines to my left and right, using touch to measure space. I began to hum under my breath, a low, steady tone that rippled softly through the dark. When it came back to me dull and quick, I knew the walls were close; when it echoed faintly and slow, I followed.
   A stray vine snagged my foreleg. I froze, then twisted, letting it slip away. My horn sparked once, just enough frost to slick the vine with harmless ice so it couldn’t coil again. I considered this a trip hazard, so, defensive magic.
   Minutes, or maybe an hour, passed in that manner. The darkness didn’t end, but it changed. The air grew lighter, fresher. A whisper of wind brushed through my aurora-hued mane, faint but real. I lifted my head, eyes narrowing, and kept moving toward it.
   Finally, the vines thinned enough that a single shaft of moonlight pierced the canopy, silvering my periwinkle fur and feathers. I stopped beneath it, took a breath, and smiled faintly.
   “You always find a way through,” I murmured. “You just have to listen.” And with that, I stepped forward and cleared the obstacle. As luck would have it, I saw @Nitobit Moonlight Wane running with impressive speed, holding that remarkable canon. I smiled with mischief in mind. "Here I come, my little bat pony."

   Ask Dusk Haven

   Glamour magic is the magical art of disguise. You make yourself either look like other ponies or modify yourself to cover or enhance other features. I used it to cover my wings. Think changling magic.
    
   Once in a rare while, about fifteen hundred years ago, a gifted Unicorn might give pause, but I was never discovered until I had no choice but to do it myself in a life-or-death situation.
    
   Good instincts! Yes, it's precisely what Zecora does. In fact, some of my best potions came from her culture. I'm comfortable in an apothecary shop and can hold my own, concocting various elixirs, but Zecora's pony tribes made it into an art. I think that gets lost a lot with a few other Alicorns. They forget to learn from other pony races and cultures.
    
   Nice to meet you, Skylight! Yes, Twilight has taught me a few spells and different ways to look at a harmonic focus adjustment in pyrotechnics. I was one of her several teachers in Celestia's school. I disguised myself as a Unicorn named Autumn Reed to teach. I taught Advanced Strategic Spellwork and Ethical Engagement. She is quick-thinking, thinks out of the box, and her raw power was impressive, frighteningly so, when she was younger. She's pioneered advanced arcana and the study of magical matrices considerably in her short life. That comes from a master spell caster. She's a wise one to want to learn from.

   She gave it a small tug, feeling it pull back against her grip. “Well,” she muttered with a wry grin, “can’t be worse than standing still.”
   With that, she set off, following the rope’s path through the dark with quick, careful steps, curiosity and caution warring in her chest as she wondered who — or what — might be waiting at the other end.

   Skylight smiled as she entered Twilight's home. She loved spending time with Twilight, and the two alicorns were best friends. It was only a moment later that Twilight entered from another room. She was carrying a tray for tea time in her magic.

   "Ooh, who is it? Is it Cadence? I didn't know you were inviting one of the princesses over," Skylight replied.

   🍃The Running of the Leaves (2025) Race Event!

   Storyline:
   As your OC arrives at the gathering spot, they can see the starting line, a hot air balloon, empty seats to sit in the crowd, as well as other ponies gathering to either watch or participate.
   There are serval things that you can do in this situation.
   You are able to:
   Interact with other participants taking part in the race.
   Head on over to Dynamo Pad, who's standing near a desk full of numbers to hand out to the participants.
   Do something else.
   It's completely up to your OC on what you'd like to do, before the race begins. Once everyone has their numbers, everyone can line up at the starting line for the race to begin.
   The race will begin on September 8th! This will give everyone enough time to arrive at the racing location, as well as line up at the starting line when the race is about to commence.

   As you all make your way towards the location of the race for this years, Running of the Leaves. You can see multiple things going on as you take a look around the area. A pink hot air balloon tied to a post and ready to take flight, empty bleachers that are slowly starting to fill with audience spectators. Ponies and other creatures holding vendor stalls for food and beverages. From cotton candy, popcorn, beverages and many more treats are available to be purchased and had!
   As this was going on, the host for the event, Dynamo Pad, was looking through his checklist to make sure he was prepared for this year's race. "Let's see here. Paper's with numbers on them? Allowing me to hand over said number to the participants? Check! Commentators having a bird's eye view for the race and the racer's? Check! Weather conditions being bright and sunny?" He asks, smiling as he pulled his gaze away from his clipboard, before turning his attention towards the sky. His smile faded slightly as his expression turned puzzled as he took notice of the sky. What was meant to be a clear and sunny blue sky, was instead filled with gray clouds and a slight windy breeze. "Huh? That's really strange. I thought for sure the plan was to have clear skies for the race. It looks like it might rain, but I don't recall there being an announcement of rain. I think Rainbow Dash would have said something." He says, scratching the back of his neck as he tried to make heads or tails of what was going on.
   "Hmmm...I guess this could be okay. There shouldn't be any rain, so the ground wouldn't be wet and slippery to run across. Hopefully everything will be okay. I remember how much fun everyone had from the last Running of the Leaves. I made sure that things were just as fun this year as compared to last year. Making it double the fun!" His puzzled look slowly faded as his smile returned. He admitted to himself that he was feeling nervous, but not as nervous as he felt from the previous race. While he did hope that things went well this time around, he was still looking forward to the race ahead.
