  1. I know the show is very popular. I remember reading on Wikipedia that once the brony fandom started getting really big on the internet, it jumped from about one million to four million viewers per episode, and this was in season one. I also remember reading that the day A Canterlot Wedding aired for the first time on the Hub, was the second best day ever for the station in terms of how many people watched it.

However, how many of those people who have watched it who like the show enough to consider themselves to be bronies (or just fans if they don't know what a brony is), I don't know.

  2. I don't know much about where/how the phrase "love and tolerance" originated, other than that it came from 4chan. But, in my opinion, it doesn't matter where it came from.

From watching the show, I know that it's about love and tolerance. I'm pretty sure someone else said in the replies about blind love and tolerance, and actually what they are referring to would undermine what love and tolerance truly is. Firstly, there is a difference between toleration and agreement. For example, I tolerate the practice of sadomasochism, because if responsible adults want to do it in a consensual, safe manner with each other, then it's not my place to judge them. However, I don't like or agree with the practice of sadomasochism.

Also, "love" is a general term, and doesn't mean that loving others requires not standing up for yourself, or not telling people when they're doing something harmful, etc. It means that you accept people for who they are, that you try not to judge people. That you try to understand others and put yourself in their shoes instead of instantly judging them. That you give people the benefit of the doubt and that you put other's wants and needs (depending what they are) before your own. However, this doesn't mean don't stand up for yourself, this doesn't mean let people take advantage of you. Just as Fluttershy learned in Putting Your Hoof Down, all it takes to stand up for yourself in verbal situations is a simple "no." Or, even simply ignoring the person. A lot of conflict can be avoided by simply saying no or walking away instead of getting into an argument, which can lead to a physical fight. In a physical fight, we all have the right to defend ourselves from harm. Unity is also a very core aspect of love. All of this is a part of love. Love for others, love for the world, love for ourselves.

In practically every episode there is a positive inspirational message about how to live in the world with love in your heart. If we all lived by the lessons in MLP, the world would be a much brighter, happier, more peaceful place. If people decided to accept other people for who they were, to put aside differences, to tolerate people you don't like or disagree with, giving people a second chance, to stand up for yourself by simply saying "no" or walking away instead of starting a fight, to put other people before yourself, the world would truly be a better place. All of these messages and more are found in MLP, some of them are more obvious than others. I will provide examples of things from the show representing what I wrote about in this paragraph.

Accept other people for who they are, to put aside differences: The very fact of the mane 6's friendship. They all have different personalities, yet they all accept and like each other for who they are, as they are best friends. A specific example of this would be how Rarity and Applejack learned in Look Before You Sleep that they could be friends even though their personalities seemed to be polar opposites.

To tolerate people you don't like or disagree with, giving people a second chance: Princess Celestia and Fluttershy wanting to reform Discord in the episode Keep Calm and Flutter On despite all the harm he had done to Equestria in the past is an example of toleration, and of giving people a second chance. There are some situations where certain behavior cannot be tolerated, such as crime, and sometimes you could give someone any number of chances and they wouldn't change. However, this rule doesn't apply to everyone. There have probably been at least one, if not more situations in all of our lives where we could have tolerated someone, or we could have given someone a second chance, but we chose not to. Intolerance can be one of the biggest fuels of hatred, and hatred can lead to war.

To stand up for yourself by simply saying "no" or walking away instead of starting a fight: Fluttershy learned this lesson in the episode Putting Your Hoof Down. There are two extremes: one, letting other people take advantage of you, and two, bullying and harassing others to ensure your own security. Both of these things are bad. Fluttershy learned how to find the balance between those two extremes: stand up for yourself without being hateful. How exactly this is done depends on the situation. You could just say "no," or just walk away, or otherwise say something that would fit the situation, without being hateful. If someone takes advantage of you, being hateful in response only leads to more conflict and hurt feelings. Standing up for yourself without being hateful greatly increases the chances of a peaceful resolution being brought to the situation, including you being separated from the negative situation without bullying or violence ensuing.

To defend yourself or others from physical harm: Though Equestria is a peaceful world with love and light (as depicted throughout the entire show, and referenced directly by Princess Celestia in The Crystal Empire, Part 1), that does not mean that they do not defend themselves from harm. When Princess Luna allowed her negative emotions to turn herself into Nightmare Moon and threaten Equestria with eternal night, the mane 6 united and used the elements of harmony to free her from the prison she had built for herself. When Discord attempted to turn Ponyville into the chaos capital of the world, the mane 6 united and used the elements of harmony to turn him back into stone, to prevent him from harming others. When Queen Chrysalis and her army of changelings attempted to enslave the inhabitants of Equestria and feed on their love, Princess Cadence and Shining Armor united and, with their love, repelled the forces of darkness. When King Sombra attempted to enslave all of Equestria and utterly destroy all light, love, peace, and happiness, the crystal ponies, with the help of Princess Cadence, Prince Shining Armor, and the mane 6, united and, with their love and light, destroyed King Sombra for good, extinguished his black magic, and reflected love and light throughout all of Equestria. The common theme here is that the inhabitants of Equestria choose to use their power to defend themselves from harm, instead of using their power to harm others. Princess Celestia knows black magic, as we learned in The Crystal Empire, Part 1. She could choose to use it to destroy everyone. But, she chose love and light, which lead to a prosperous, joyful, and peaceful Equestria. If, in our world, we learn to use violence for defense, and defense alone, we could put ourselves on the path to becoming a world of love, light, and peace.

Unity: Unity is a very common theme in the show, and is a very core aspect of love. If we all learned how to unite with one another instead of argue and fight one another, the world would become a much better place. We are all in this together. Any strife, conflict, and violence is the result of free will used for evil instead of for good. Our world is not doomed to be engulfed in perpetual darkness. What the world is like is each and every one of our choices made by everyone. We must live the change we wish to see. Unity is seen throughout the entire series as a general concept of peace and goodwill, a spirit to overcome conflict and differences toward a common betterment of themselves and the world. More direct examples of unity are The Cutie Mark Chronicles episode where the mane 6 learned they were all connected before they even met each other, whenever the mane 6 unite to use the elements of harmony, Princess Cadence and Shining Armor uniting in their love to drive away evil, and the entire population of the Crystal Empire choosing to unite, to grow the light and love within themselves, and, as one, drive away the forces of evil that threatened their lives.

This is not an all-inclusive list of spiritual, moral messages in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. True love and toleration (not sarcastic internet memes) should be of paramount virtue in each and everyone's heart, whether or not they are bronies.

  3. Well, let me start of by saying that my friend is a brony too and that his favorite pony is Pinkie Pie. OK so one day I was looking up Rarity memes at school, on the computer, during lunch with him. Then we started talking about music and he said "I think it's a contradiction that you're a brony and that you listen to death metal". In my mind I was like, "What the motherf*cking f*cker of all f*cking f*cks is he talking about?". Well let me just say that there are plenty of brony metalheads. Just go to Crispy's metal thread. (It's in media discussion.) But at the same time, I can't take someone who thinks Insane Clown Posse is better than both Death and Morbid Angel seriously (I let him use my iPod). And I never called HIM a contradiction for listening to juggalos rap about, whatever it is they rap about and watch MLP.  So how am I a contradiction? The fact that you get labeled as a weirdo for not being like everyone else is bullshit, but having to conform to the standards of a fandom? That's BEYOND BULLSHIT! I'm not saying he's a poser but quite frankly, he is being a bit of a jerk.

I think I'm going to resolve this issue with him tomorrow. (Not in a fight.)

You shouldn't worry about what he thinks of you, and just be yourself. Personally, I'm a huge fan of symphonic metal, esp. Nightwish. I like some other stuff like power metal and melodic/folk death metal too. We all have our different tastes, whether or not we watch MLP. For me, MLP has drawn me away from the more negative/dark kinds of movies, music, etc I used to like, which has improved my life and happiness considerably. However, we're all different people, and if you like heavy metal there's nothing wrong with that, regardless of what your friend thinks of you.

  4. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a lot more than just a show to me. It's a spiritual thing, because of all of its messages of love and harmony. It reminds me how to live with love in my heart when I start getting angry or stressed out.

I can always go to the show if I'm feeling upset about something. If something bothers me, I'll talk to my parents about it, or my friends. But it's nice to have a method of comfort that I can go to alone. What if I don't feel like talking about it? What if it's too late at night to talk to my parents? I can always watch an episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and watching episodes almost always helps me to feel considerably better.

Before I started watching MLP, the weight of the negative things in the world that I was just starting to learn about at the age of 12, 13, 14 just started crushing me. The love and light in the show has lifted that off of my shoulders and has reminded me that, no matter what horrible thing I see on the news, or what disturbing thing I read about on the internet, there is still love in the world. The show has also helped me to appreciate the positive people and things around me everyday that I started to take for granted.

  5. Alrighty, I already sent you your copy, hope you enjoy the game and have a good time finding your favourite hero ^_^ ( I recommend you to start with Drow Ranger)

Awesome. Am I able to just start playing it when it finishes downloading and installing, or is there any kind of special keycode I need to be able to access it?

  6. Accept the Friend invite SCS so I can send you the game :3 and that way you can play with some friend and maybe even with me xDD :P

Accepted! I can't play the game tonight, but it would be great if you could send it to me anyway so I can play it tomorrow. Thanks.

  7. I've read and seen some really good grimdark and shipping pics/fics, but I feel as though I shouldn't be enjoying them. If everyone I know knew about my liking for these things, they would judge me as some disgusting freak of nature, and lately I see a lot of bronies against these things, too. Should I feel ashamed?

You definitely shouldn't feel ashamed or worry about what other people think of you. Personally, I don't like combining that kind of content with MLP, and I don't like disturbing or violent media in general. However, I'm not going to judge you or anyone else if they do like it. That's their own personal preference, and not my place to judge. So, don't worry. There's nothing wrong with you, and no reason why you should feel bad.

  8. You could try rewatching your favorite episodes, reading some fan fiction, listening to some fan music, etc. You don't need to feel bad if you feel like you're losing interest. I don't watch the show every day. Sometimes I might not even watch it at all for a whole week. That doesn't mean I love the show any less, it just means that there are other things that I'm interested in, too. So, maybe you should just take a break from watching MLP for awhile, and then go back to watching it later. I usually shift in my interests primarily for what I do on the internet and what music I listen to. Sometimes I'll listen to a band for awhile, then listen to another band for awhile for something different, but that doesn't mean I like the first band any less. Sometimes I'll focus more on a particular website than another one, and shift my focus to different sites every now and then, but that doesn't mean that I necessarily like any of those sites any less. Including this website, there are probably about five websites I use the most frequently. Some days I'll use one more than the other, but that doesn't mean I'm necessarily losing interest in any of them. So, I wouldn't worry. Just watch MLP when you feel like it.

  9. Yes, this is 100% Legal, since Valve is trying to see if the community likes enough this game, to....idk maybe make it Free to Play like with Team Fortress 2, I can guarantee that you won't get scam or have any legal issues at all ^_^

Awesome, thanks. I can't add you on Steam because I don't have any games yet, which limits what I can do (including disallowing me to send friend requests). Hopefully I'll still be eligible for the giveaway though, since you can add me.

  10. This is incredible. I love the world of Equestria, and sometimes I wonder where exactly everything is. This is open for interpretation though, because I remember reading that the writers often shift the locations of places to fit the storyline. However, it would be interesting to have maps of Equestria and various places within.

  11. I haven't noticed this much. It's safe to be fairly sure that most, if not all episodes will have a happy ending, and that light and love will always win. However, the episodes are so effective at telling their story, they can still have me on the edge of my seat. Especially in the opening and finale episodes, like A Canterlot Wedding and The Crystal Empire. It's pretty safe to say that the good guys will always win, but the episodes are so amazing I get swept up in the story, so suspense is still effectively created. It's like the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. His audience knew that Julius Caesar was going to be assassinated, but he wrote the play in such a way that effective suspense was still created.

  12. Matters such as these are of a subjective nature, so there really are no "true" or "false" fans since objective logic cannot be applied to this. The only false fan in my opinion would be someone who claimed to be a Twilight Sparkle fan, but was lying, and actually was not one. I don't know why anyone would do that, though.

I love all of the mane 6 for who they are. However, Twilight Sparkle combined with Fluttershy would be most like my true self.

  13. I plan to learn how to lucid dream. One of my friends from school is very good at it. In fact, he told me that he was even able to time dilate his lucid dreams, which, from what I have read, is very difficult to do, to the point where he was able to live a lifetime in Equestria every night. However, he couldn't remember most of his lucid dreams. He was just aware of the amount of time they spanned, and remembered a very small number of things about them. I don't know whether or not he still does this, I'll have to ask him.

This page links to a lot of great information about lucid dreaming: http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/lucid-dreaming-techniques.html

  14. This was an excellent episode, as they all are. I love all of the episodes.

It was great seeing all of the pets in one episode. They are very cute. It was also especially great to see Tank and Owlicious again, who don't show up very often.

Spike also learned a very important lesson about putting others before yourself. I used to have a problem with the fact that the mane 6 didn't find out what he had done, but while writing this post I think I now understand why that happened. Spike realized what he had been doing wrong, himself. This is evidenced by the fact that he told Angel Bunny to do his worst, in other words to alert the mane 6 of his presence in their train car. Angel Bunny decided not to do so, and gave him a gem to eat to quiet his rumbling stomach so that they would not discover him. If he had been discovered, he might have still learned his lesson, but it wouldn't have been as powerful a lesson. Yes, he would have been very embarrassed, the mane 6 probably would have been very upset and lectured him for it. But that's just not the same as learning the lesson yourself. This way, Spike knows the importance of putting others before himself, not because he was embarrassed or lectured, but because he learned the importance of that himself.

  15. I don't know what I would be like right now if My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic never existed. The show has helped me through so many periods of darkness and depression in my life.

Also, I just realized something. Yesterday, me and several other friends spent several hours with one of our friends whose mom passed away, to help him to feel better. First we were at the funeral parlor with him for awhile, then we all went to his house and hung out. We had a ton of fun, eating food, watching videos, watching a movie, and talking. He seemed much like his normal self, he told us how he already felt like he was a good way through the grieving process. He told us how so many of us being there for him had helped him to feel a lot better.

Going back in time, I used to argue with this friend all the time. Back in 9th grade, I wasn't really friends with him, because I just got annoyed at him all the time, and said mean things to him. However, after awhile of watching My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (he got into the show to, along with my two best friends), I suddenly felt like my anger toward him was just gone. Or, if not gone, severely decreased, and I lost the will to argue with him. Instead, I had gained the will to be nice to him, to want to be friends with him. Thanks to MLP, he and I became friends. If he and I hadn't become friends, I wouldn't have been able to be there yesterday to help him. If I hadn't been there yesterday to help him, he might not have been able to be helped as much as he was. One of my best friends who had gotten to the funeral parlor earlier than I had said that he seemed to get happier and happier with each one of us who showed up.

  16. One of my favorite songs of all time, Song of Myself by Nightwish, features a re-imagining of the poem Song of Myself by Walt Whitman by the head of the band. It features social commentary on several issues, including war, in the following lines:

Death is the winner in any war,

Nothing noble in dying for your religion

    For your country

    For ideology, for faith

    For another man,

    Yes

I don't fully agree with what that song says. I am a pacifist, but not to the degree of being anti-military. What I mean is that I am against war, but I am not against the US military, or our allies. I wish war didn't have to exist, but unfortunately it's sometimes a necessary evil. The way my dad explained it to me that I think makes sense is that the war is the lesser of two evils, in the example of the US going to war with the terrorists. Going to war is a necessary evil to stop terrorists. Letting the terrorists do whatever they wanted to do would be the greater evil.

Anyways, Song of Myself by Nightwish is a very beautiful song, with very thought provoking and moving lyrics.

Here are its lyrics in entirety:

    Song of Myself

    [1. From A Dusty Bookshelf]

[2. All That Great Heart Lying Still]

The nightingale is still locked in the cage

The deep breath I took still poisons my lungs

An old oak sheltering me from the blue

Sun bathing on its dead frozen leaves

A catnap in the ghost town of my heart

She dreams of storytime and the river ghosts

Of mermaids, of Whitman's and the ride

    Raving harlequins, gigantic toys

A song of me, a song in need

    Of a courageous symphony

A verse of me, a verse in need

Of a pure heart singing me to peace

All that great heart lying still and slowly dying

All that great heart lying still on an angel wing

All that great heart lying still

    In silent suffering

Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end

    What is left for encore

Is the same old dead boy's song

    Sung in silence

All that great heart lying still and slowly dying

All that great heart lying still on an angel wing

A midnight flight into Covington Woods

A princess and a panther by my side

These are Territories I live for

I'd still give my everything to love you more

A song of me, a song in need

    Of a courageous symphony

A verse of me, a verse in need

Of a pure heart singing me to peace

All that great heart lying still and slowly dying

All that great heart lying still on an angel wing

Now all that great heart lying still

    In silent suffering

Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end

    What is left for encore

Is the same old dead boy's song

    Sung in silence

All that great heart lying still and slowly dying

All that great heart lying still on an angel wing

    [3. Piano Black]

    A silent symphony

    A hollow opus #1,2,3

Sometimes the sky is piano black

    Piano black over cleansing waters

    Resting pipes, verse of bore

    Rusting keys without a door

Sometimes the within is piano black

    Piano black over cleansing waters

All that great heart lying still and slowly dying

All that great heart lying still on an angel wing

All that great heart lying still and slowly dying

All that great heart lying still on an angel wing

All that great heart lying still and slowly dying

All that great heart lying still on an angel wing

    [4. Love]

I see a slow, simple youngster by a busy street,

A begging bowl in his shaking hand.

Trying to smile but hurting infinitely. Nobody notices.

    I do, but walk by.

An old man gets naked and kisses a model-doll in his attic

    It's half-light and he's in tears.

When he finally comes his eyes are cascading.

I see a beaten dog in a pungent alley. He tries to bite me.

All pride has left his wild, drooling eyes.

I wish I had my leg to spare.

A mother visits her son, smiles to him through the bars.

    She's never loved him more.

Arabesque girl enters an elevator with me.

All dressed up fancy, a green butterfly on her neck.

    Terribly sweet perfume deafens me.

    She's going to dinner, alone.

That makes her even more beautiful.

    I see a model's face on a brick wall.

A statue of porcelain perfection beside a violent city kill.

    A city that worships flesh.

The first thing I ever heard,

was a wandering man telling his story

It was you, the grass under my bare feet

The campfire in the dead of night

The heavenly black of sky and sea

    It was us,

Roaming the rainy roads, combing the gilded beaches

Waking up to a new gallery of wonders every morn

Bathing in places no one's seen before

    Shipwrecked on some matt-painted island

Clad in nothing but the surf - beauty's finest robe

Beyond all mortality we are, swinging in the breath of nature

In early air of the dawn of life

A sight to silence the heavens

I want to travel where life travels,

    following its permanent lead

Where the air tastes like snow music

Where grass smells like fresh-born Eden

I would pass no man, no stranger, no tragedy or rapture

I would bathe in a world of sensation

    Love, goodness and simplicity

(While violated and imprisoned by technology)

The thought of my family's graves was the only moment

I used to experience true love

    That love remains infinite,

as I'll never be the man my father is

How can you "just be yourself"

when you don't know who you are?

Stop saying "I know how you feel"

How could anyone know how another feels?

Who am I to judge a priest, beggar,

    w****, politician, wrongdoer?

I am, you are, all of them already

Dear child, stop working, go play

    Forget every rule

There's no fear in a dream

"Is there a village inside this snowflake?"

    - a child asked me

"What's the colour of our lullaby?"

I've never been so close to truth as then

    I touched its silver lining

Death is the winner in any war

Nothing noble in dying for your religion

    For your country

    For ideology, for faith

    For another man,

    Yes

    Paper is dead without words

    Ink idle without a poem

All the world dead without stories

    Without love and disarming beauty

    Careless realism costs souls

    Ever seen the Lord smile?

All the care for the world made Beautiful a sad man?

Why do we still carry a device of torture around our necks?

Oh, how rotten your pre-apocalypse is

All you bible-black fools living over nightmare ground

I see all those empty cradles and wonder

    If man will ever change

I, too, wish to be a decent man-boy but all I am

    Is smoke and mirrors

Still given everything, may I be deserving

And there forever remains the change from G to E-Minor

Here is the song. I recommend listening to it in 1080p full HD for the best quality.

  17. My favorite album of all time is Imaginaerum by Nightwish. It is absolutely beautiful. Its genre is symphonic metal. The lyrics are thought provoking, beautiful, and inspirational. The music is absolutely amazing.

  18. MLP Forums is a wonderful place. I enjoy it here. ((even thought I've only been here for 17 minutes, to be exact))

Oops, sorry. I must have been daydreaming. Hello, my name is Bright Eyes, my nickname. You can call me that or whatever you want to call me, unless if it's not that offensive. I'm a 13 year old in NSW, Sydney, Australia and well, just have an ordernary life, I suppose.

At my social life at school, I enjoy Art, Music, Reading and Writing. At the beginning of each year, I get nervous on how the year's going to turn out.

I'm really excited on trying out new things at this Forum and hope to enjoy my time here.
