  1. Lovecraft created Arkham Horror, and this RP is meant to take place in the same place and time as the game, so yes it is indeed related, just only to Arkham Horror. If I made it confusing, my apologies. It's difficult to try and explain how a game will work when people are constantly asking questions that I am trying to work my way towards answering. As I said...$8 was worth a lot in the Twenties.
  2. Dude, read the ENTIRE text. I said that their attacks are extremely dangerous. Also, think about it. If there is a good card, there is always a better one. Eight bucks was a lot back in the Twenties. Now, unless you plan to join the Roleplay, please let me be.
  3. In Arkham Horror, one can get the Necronomicon from the Curiositie Shoppe, for $8. The game takes place in the '20s, so they didn't have nuclear weapons back then. The point of the game is for all players to cooperate and stop the Mythos threat, be it through sealed gates or through combat, so nobody is alone in battle. Some characters, like Sister Mary, cannot go insane, while others like Michael McGlen lose less Stamina than others. Also, please bear in mind that this is based on Arkham Horror, and it is quite obvious that you have not played it. If you had, you would know that Cthulhu takes teamwork to pull down, and that items such as the Blue Watcher of the Pyramid can actually ward off an Ancient One's attack for a full turn. Others items, like the Elder Sign, will instantly seal a gate and impede the progress of the Ancient One's awakening by one gate. As far as reading the Necronomicon is concerned...it is indeed in English, but it costs 3 Sanity to use. You can also get allies like Professor Mandrake, who reduces all Sanity losses by 1. As for monsters? They are not hard to kill, it's their own attacks that are killers. For example, the Elder Thing has only a toughness of one, which means it only takes one successful hit to kill it. However, it has the Nightmarish effect, which causes the player whom it encounters to lose one Sanity before combat occurs. It also does three Stamina damage if you attack unsuccessfully. However, monsters are also avoidable, so it is optional to go into combat. If you successfully defeat a monster, you gain points that can get you Blessed when you have enough. Blessings make your attacks more likely to succeed. Sanity losses do not effect the player any further than stopping certain events like gaining an Ally from happening if you do not have enough Sanity. So, as you can see, I already have the concept thought out. Need I say more?
  4. Oi! Might I join the party, dear chap? My OC is posted beyond this, should you be so inclined to look at him. His name is Gordon Freeman. http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/gordon-freeman-r2803
  5. Arkham Horror allows Cthulhu to be killed. It's Azathoth that you can't kill. It's the end if Azathoth awakens. I'm not saying it can be easy, but it is possible to defeat Cthulhu if you have the right items. For example, you can have the Tommy Gun and the Necromicon, which allows some Stamina loss to be reduced. Plus, anyone who loses all Sanity is immediately taken to the Asylum. I wouldn't post this thread if I hadn't thought it through, my dear chap.
  6. In the board game, Cthulhu's attack is only 5 Stamina, but it grows in numerical value as the battle goes on. Plus, I said it was inspired by the game, I never said it had to be an exact copy.
  7. Okay, I thought it would be interesting to do a thread based on the game Arkham Horror. The goal of the game is to stop the world from ending, but this is easier said than done. The Ancient One, Cthulhu, seeks to destroy the Earth and awaken from his 1000 year slumber. You have 14 days to stop Cthulhu's awakening. How do you stop this? Gates have been opening in Arkham--- gates to other worlds. Explore these gates and seal them with enough information to earn an Elder Sign. Six Elder Signs will stop Cthulhu and continue his slumber. If Cthulhu Awakens, you still have a chance. Of you can kill him in combat, then your mission will be accomplished. Beware! Cthulhu has many Minions of many types, Byakhees that take the sky, Dark Spawn that steal your soul, and many other monstrosities. There are shops which you can buy items from, and you can find money in certain areas of Arkham. Each character starts with 10 Stamina and 10 Sanity. Sanity is lost as you encounter disturbing events and Overwhelming monsters. Stamina is obviously lost when your character is hurt by the environment or by a monster. Each character starts at the same area in Arkham: Ma's Boarding House, next door to the Historical Society Building and the Curiositie Shoppe. You each start with 1 Clue, 5 of which are required to seal a gate. You can move anywhere, but you must choose one of three actions that I give before you can move on. Monsters have a given damage and a given Horror Count, which hurts your Sanity meter.
  8. Oi! Mind if I join the party? I'll behave, I promise XD (or will I?....) Here is my OOC if you feel so inclined to view it: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/gordon-freeman-r2803
  9. Gordon Freeman reporting for duty. HEV suit is powered up and ready to go. Mind if I join the party?
  10. Greetings, dear chap! I do hope you enjoy your time here on site.
  11. You've been a fan only a couple months? I've been in the herd since Gen. 1! But what does that matter? I do hope you enjoy yourself here, good chap.
  12. Greetings, my dear chap! I do hope you enjoy your time here, so do try to have fun.
  13. Well, I am working on a Pontiac Tempest right now. Gotta love the 60's cars! Now, as far as my preferred music is concerned......I am a major disco and rock fanatic. I like certain movie soundtracks, too, like the Sad Symphony of the Flying Dutchman. Gen. 1 is pretty good for the time it was shown on air. FiM is better, yes, but Generation 1 is definitely recommendable. Oh! Before I forget, RP is something I have quite a bit of experience with. I am almost always available, so feel free to ask!
  14. Greetings, chaps! I trust we are well? I have been a fan of MLP as long as I can remember watching it...from Gen. 1 to our current FiM. I am a major music connoisseur, as well as a car maniac. I am a geek in games such as Arkham Horror, Magic: The Gathering, etc.
