...And Nintendo just goes and silently releases the info on SSBU's release date through a press release. Do they just not like doing Nintendo Directs anymore (because this was the PERFECT opportunity for one, SSB specific or general), or do they just not have much to show?
It becomes even more boggling everyday. =/

I'm starting to wonder is there is something cultural (Japanese business views?) that I am missing here, because Sony did the same thing but in reverse to the Vita. They offered the same games on both platforms giving no effort to build a exclusive library that would entice new users and increase adoption rates.
I don't know... There is no trend whatsoever regarding this and Nintendo, so I'd assume not. Some speculate that SSB4 was originally planned to be a 3DS title but then became a dual system title to help the Wii U sales.
Of course, there is no basis whatsoever behind that. lol

I'm not even sure at this point. I've never been one to jump on the doom and gloom bandwagon, and I still don't think that this spells doom and gloom for Nintendo as a whole. But the Wii U may be quite a loss.
SSB could have done a whole lot of good for them, but they made it for the 3DS as well, and on top of that, prioritized the success of the 3DS version instead of the Wii U version. This is honestly the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen them do. The only thing that could save the Wii U version is exclusive characters, but Sakurai made a ridiculous development decision and made the 3DS roster the same as the Wii U version. So they shot themselves in the foot, plain and simple.
Nintendo's other top-sellers aren't going to do them any good here. The Wii's top sellers were Wii Sports and titles like that, which haven't sold so well on the Wii U. We all like to think that it's the titles like Metroid, Zelda, and Star Fox that drive system sells, but it isn't in reality. "Wii" titles, Mario platformers, SSB games, and Mario Kart games have that power, but they've all missed.

Pure 80s synth pop... The style and decade of music a lot of people know I really do not like at all. It even has a gross pushy male character: "Don't you want me? I was so nice to you! If you don't return my love I will make you pay for it!" *throws up in hand*
But somehow the synths in this song actually sound really cool and invoke a sense of "retro" that I actually like. There's no saving those lyrics, though.

A better question for me would be asking what my favorite song would be from after 2005 as I am strange and mostly enjoy listening to music twenty plus years before I was born. (1978 and before)
But my favorite 'childhood' (teen years) song would probably be 3 Doors Down's "Here Without You".
The memories, that was my favorite song a decade ago!
Still love it, but not quite as much.
It's very hard to even narrow down there, narrowing down 60s/70s and before music is extremely hard for me. D:
Strong contenders would be:
(for that beautifully amazing early music-inspired folk sound. That intro, too... And my instrument, the bassoon, is featured, too!)But I say that all rather spontaneously, my music tastes change a lot. Those are at least consistent loved songs for me. lol

Me curse? Why I would never!
...Just kidding! Work kinda brings out the worst in me. Especially as of late. Although I usually do it just because literally no one expects cursing out of me, and their reactions bring me entertainment. I was raised to be such a fine upstanding Christian, of course. (Too bad! LOL) But they don't really know that, so it must be my gender that makes them react that way. Psh.

G3 is great, sometimes to a point of excelling G4.
I've really come to like G3, but I don't know that I would say that it excels G4 (IMO, I didn't grow up with MLP) except for in the toys department. G3 definitely had better toys.
Nevertheless, it definitely gets too much hate in this community. Minty is flipping adorable.

Wondering what it is going on with this weather. We had an incredibly tame Spring, but now in October all of the sudden the severe weather is happening? This is supposed to be a pretty and easy time of the year, but a few days ago a crazy storm came through and the wind in it uprooted a large tree across the street. And now another severe storm is about to come through... and it wasn't even predicted to rain at all.

From what I've read the 750 Ti becomes a little sketchy in running the later The Sims 3 Expansion Packs. That's why I avoided it and went with the Radeon R9 270X instead.
And you know, if it has potential problems running those later TS3 EPs, I can't imagine what it would be like for games that PC gamers play.

They determined somewhere back around fifth grade that I was supposed to be wearing glasses for nearsightedness, but I never could get used to wearing them. So... I just stopped. xD
In high school I got a fancy pair of prescription sunglasses, but I only wore them for marching band and this driver's ed course I took as I'm required to wear glasses if I were to drive, or that's how it was back then, now driving isn't happening. But that's another topic.

Hm... Not very. Incidentally I work in one of the heavier areas at work, I just don't actually lift up the heavy boxes. =P In reality I am quite fragile. Carrying my bassoon in its case makes my arm hurt in a matter of seconds. 'Tis why I got that backpack case cover. xD

If you don't care for pcgaming why in the name of GabeN are you in the thread?
I was going to stop posting here with that post, you know! =P
Recently I ordered a new PC to be able to run The Sims 3 plus all Expansion Packs so I thought it was appropriate to post the specs here, and that's how the conversation above got started. =/

The advent of medical issues. They have done all to well in slowly but surely shattering all of my hopes and dreams for my life post-high school graduation.

Oh yeah, here's something that came to mind. Have you ever thought about trying out emulators like Project64 or Dolplhin? You definitely have the PC for Dolphin.
I refuse to mess with emulators. They're illegal, and I'm not cool with that.
You seem far too dead-set on selling PC gaming to me. So far that you suggest I illegally play console games on the PC. Just stop it, please. This conversation is clogging up your "PC gaming master race" topic for absolutely no reason. PC gaming is not for everyone. Let it go.

Well then if you don't want to upgrade then... don't upgrade unless you absolutely have to. The game magically won't become more demanding over time.
Well, yeah, that's what I've been saying all along - as long as I don't take interest in any further The Sims titles or other PC titles I don't have to worry about upgrading. And that's why I like it that way.

Hm... I don't really listen to her anymore (her music held together for me much better than Avril Lavigne, though I will say that! xD), but when I was in my early teens I really liked the song "Born To Make You Happy".

The last time I even remotely dressed up for Halloween was six years ago... I don't think it will ever be happening ever again. lol I work Halloween night, anyway.

TBH, I don't even know anymore. I don't think I have a dream job anymore. I have become so desensitized to such things.
I just know that it is not where I'm working right now.
Idealistically, I'd win the lottery and not have to work, and spend how much longer I have taking classes at college and playing in ensembles. That's what I enjoy most in life. Learning.

With higher-end cards, it's become almost entirely optional in most cases. Some of my friends are still on cards from 2007 or 2008.
And you sure you need a super high-end rig for The Sims 3? Because I'm on a laptop and The Sims 2 runs just fine on my integrated graphics... then again, so can a lot of other games from 2004. And the resolution is capped at 1600x900 so there's that too.
Does what I ordered even count as a "super high-end rig"? Because I seriously doubt that.
It's not fair to compare The Sims 2 here. The Sims 3 requires A LOT more than The Sims 2 because The Sims 3 has an open world. The Sims 2 you played and ran one household at a time. In The Sims 3 it's different. The whole neighborhood is loaded at once and the game processes what happens to each and every family in the neighborhood while you play your household.
The game is also poorly coded, so it requires even more to run anywhere near perfectly.
I built the PC around that because I have had such a horrible time playing it, I want to play it like it should be played. And as I said, I don't ever want a reason to ever even think about wanting to upgrade, so I won't mess with other PC series. Consoles are where the games are at for me. This PC was a major investment for me in terms of how much I care about PC gaming. That is I have spent way over enough and *definitely* don't want to spend anymore.

On that. You don't really need to upgrade much anymore. Intel maxed out their CPU performance a few years ago and while there still is some more power to squeeze out of a GPU, it's become an upgrade you do every 3 - 5 years, so even if you built a PC 5 years ago you're still, for the most part, good today.
Needing to upgrade the video card is the very pressure I don't want to have to deal with. Initially I thought that was all I really needed to upgrade to run The Sims 3 really well, and it was all very much a frustrating pressure back then.

Okay, I managed to unlock Ness and Falco but I failed to unlock Dark Pit. Seriously, Greninja sped off the cliff. He's fast and agile but can't really hit that hard.
Also, what level is the AI set in the unlockable fight? Cause it feels pretty high.
Dark Pit was very tough to unlock, I think in part because of the stage. It's not a very easy stage to work with, and the AI is aggressive.
Kind of wish I hadn't had to unlock Dark Pit anyway. lol-

Oh. Well, it was just a suggestion because there's more to PC gaming than just The Sims.
You silly, we already had this discussion! I have no want to explore PC gaming any further. As I said before all I really care about is The Sims, and seeing as The Sims 4 is no good in my eyes, I can finally not have to worry about new versions not running so well on my computer and pressuring me to spend money to upgrade.
I want to keep it that way.

Yeah, Classic Mode is a lot more varied than the repetitive dull Classic Mode of Brawl. Thank goodness, because as far as I can tell that's how you unlock all of the characters.
Now that I have the game, I have to praise it for the amount of new and varied characters (even though I don't agree with some of the choices), but I'm afraid the game feels rather empty aside from that. It's not the lack of a SSE that I'm talking about... But instead the lack of a plain Adventure Mode, Event Matches, etc. I'm sure they'll all appear on the Wii U version, but the game still feels too sparse here... Especially when all of the characters are unlocked through one method.
The small screen is also very strange for SSB play. The controls are awkward too. =/ It's great to have SSB on a portable system, but it just doesn't feel right. =(

Why do you think I'm called "Envy"? =P
When I was really young it was thought that I had a talent for drawing, but it turns out that I really don't (par for the course with me. -_-). So I get jealous and really frustrated when I see art that is waayyyy past any level I could ever possibly achieve.

Nintendo software only.
in Media Discussion
Nintendo going software-only would probably be the day I completely abandon gaming.
I have my major complaints about them, even the way they handle their consoles, but at the end of the day they are the only company I know I can get my money's worth buying their console day one. They are the only console-making company that focuses on colorful family-friendly games as opposed to zombies, war, guns, aliens, and violence. Of course, these types of titles are not completely absent from other consoles, but Nintendo specializes in them and they excel in them. Even their more darker series like Metroid are nothing like the violent games that everybody talks up on the Sony and Microsoft systems.
That isn't even to begin going over what would happen with Nintendo games and franchises. They would become different, and they would be spread out among different platforms, forcing you to buy more than one to be able to enjoy them, like Kingdom Hearts.
Nevertheless, I am not worried about this happening. The Wii U may never be considered a 'success' for Nintendo, but it isn't anywhere near enough to send them out of the hardware business. People really need to quit being so melodramatic... Think realistically.
