Remember the colorful wisps from Sonic Colors (Or Colours in Canada and Europe?) If not, let me remind you. The wisps were items Sonic could grab to help his advance in the stage. These include the rocket, lazer, and drill wisps. They were the main gimmick of the game and they were pretty fun to use.
Lost World brought them back, along with some new ones. However, the wisp use in Colors is infinitely better than in this. The wisps are either unresponsive, a pain in the butt to aim or steer, just plain freaking sucks, or have a combination of any of the three problems I just mentioned.
One wisp, for example, is the new hawk wisp. While I find the concept of this one cool, it's very problematic. The thing takes freaking forever to actually start to steer this wisp. Even then, the first time you hit something while with the hawk wisp, it disappears, potentially having you fall down a bottomless pit.
However, most of these wisps are completely optional. I don't have to use the hawk wisp if I don't want to use it. Though, I still wish that they would make better use of these guys. They were great in Sonic Colors, and it's just a shame to see them downgraded to such degrees.

Well shit. I don't know if this is happening to any of you guys, but I've been having some major issues with playing the user-generated maps in Portal 2. The same problems occur even if I start up the single player mode. These problems are also existent in the original Portal.
You see, whenever I select a mode, generally, it takes me to the loading screen. Once it loads all the way, the game simply crashes. These problems didn't occur when I first played the game last weekend. I don't know whether it's a bug in the system or my graphics card or anything like that. Though I do know one thing; I'm not gonna be playing Portal for awhile.

    *Sniff* :'(

You know what that means? It means that the video game industry is going to be showing off their newest titles! It's one of my favorite parts of the holiday season, actually. That and spending time with family. A few games I'm looking forward to playing are Sonic Lost World, WWE 2K14 (I follow the WWE games faithfully,) Pikmin 3, and so on. I'm still torn between a Wii U and PS4. I'm simply just thinking about getting the Wii U and getting all of the other games through Steam or something.
    Anyways...
    GET HYPED :3

Perhaps some of you have noticed my lack of entries on this blog. Believe me, guys. It's not that I forget to post. I honestly just can't find anything in the gaming community at the moment for me to talk about. The only thing that would be worth talking about right now is Mine Con. But I honestly don't care much about Minecraft to begin with.
For now on, my entries are not going to come in at a consistent rate. They'll come in whenever something comes up that I want to talk about. Don't worry, I'll be sure I post frequently, though.
For now, I'm going to find my next topic.
    Stay nerdy, my friends.

On the same day I got Arkham Origins, I also played the demo to Sonic Lost World. I've mentioned before that I've been looking forward to this game. But, after finally playing it for the first time, I've discovered that SEGA has made some highly questionable changes that, let's just say, I'm not a fan of.
First of all, Sonic's speed has been terribly butchered. You have to hold down the right trigger in order for Sonic to actually run fast. If you don't, Sonic will jog at a speed slower than that of Sonic 06. This change was probably made to help the platforming aspect, but I still find it weird that they would do something like this to the blue blur.
Another issue I have is the enemy placement. The enemy placement in this game is SUPER jerkish. I'll just be running along and, all of a sudden, a badnik appears directly in front of Sonic. As a result, I have no time to react to it, I take a hit and lose my rings. That happened to me about three times throughout the course of the level.
Though, that's not to say that this game is completely terrible. This game's presentation is top notch and the level design looks pretty good so far. I'll have to get the full game before I can have a solid opinion.

Today is the day that Sonic Lost World comes out in North America. None of you have any idea how long I've waited for this day. I will just say right now that Sonic the Hedgehog is my favorite video game franchise out there, despite the ups and downs and all-arounds. This is one game I'm definitely getting my hands on as soon as possible.

    You go, Sonic :3

I'm sure plenty of Sonic fans like me have played Sonic Unleashed at one point. The game is said to be the beginning of the heal from Sonic 06, and it shows. I loved Sonic's daytime stages, and I enjoyed the werehog stages... to an extent.
In the first half of the game, they seemed pretty awesome to me. I liked this new approach they were taking with Sonic. Yeah, the werewolf thing is a bit of a cliche, but it's still interesting to have Sonic play like this.
    But, by the time I got to the second half of the game, the gimmick wore out it's welcome. Why? Well, three reasons;
    1. The werehog is slow. I seriously think that the werehog's speed is that of Silver's speed in 06. If you're gonna make me play Sonic in a different style, the least you could do is make him have some sort of top speed.
    2. That frigging saxophone battle theme. I wouldn't mind this theme too much if it didn't go off every six seconds of the stage. I'm not kidding, this theme goes off every time you engage in combat with enemies. Heck, it goes off even if you're just fighting ONE enemy.
    3. These stages go on forever. Like I said, I thought the werehog stages were decent in the beginning. But, by the second half, they got painfully long, and all I wanted to do was go back to daytime so I could go fast again.

You know the band 'Imagine Dragons?' The band that made the song 'Radioactive?' Well, they actually made the main them to the newest installment in the popular Infinity Blade series. The song is called 'Monster.' Link's in the bottom of the post. I also heard that Infinity Blade will soon be getting a PC release.
I bet Valve is gonna be ALL OVER that with Steam.

I remember when Knuckles was first playable back in Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. His character was clearly established as the guardian of a giant emerald called 'The Master Emerald.' This concept would carry through into the 3D era. In Sonic Adventure, the Master Emerald was destroyed, sending the home of the emerald, Angel Island, falling into the sea. Knuckles spent the game finding the missing shards emerald and restoring them, thus returning Angel Island to the sky. In SA2, the same thing occurs. However, it doesn't show Angel Island at all once the emerald is broken. I just assumed that Angel Island fell into the sea again with no damage done to it. When Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and 06 came around, however, Knuckles' role s the guardian of the Master Emerald seemed to have been completely forgotten. I mean, unless Knuckles has someone else guarding the emerald while he's out screwing around with Sonic and Tails. As the years went by, SEGA suddenly remembered Knuckles' role as the guardian. He didn't appear in Sonic Unleashed or Sonic Colors, so that's just what I assume.

Still trying to get through all the games I got for my birthday. Today, I started Mario and Luigi Dream Team for the Nintendo 3DS. Before playing this, I played most of the Mario and Luigi RPGs for Nintendo portable systems. When I played those, I LOVED them. So, I only assumed that they'd keep it going with this one, and, sure enough, Nintendo doesn't disappoint in that regard. The game feels very similar to the other Mario and Luigi RPGs, so I'm glad they kept the flow going here. Each of these RPGs always tend to have some sort of gimmick to them. This time, it's the dream world. The dream world aspect is actually not that bad, at least so far. I still think the last game, Bowser's Inside Story, was the best one yet. I liked how you had to play as Bowser for half the game. I liked the attacks he could do with his minions. However, in this game, you can't play as him, or anyone else for that matter. It's just Mario and Luigi from beginning to end.
That bothers me just a bit, but it's nothing I'll lose sleep over.

I would like to apologize for not posting a geekasm entry yesterday. I got all wrapped up in what I was doing that day, and I didn't have enough time to write one during the night.
Anyways, I won't be posting any geekasms this week. Instead, I'll be doing this:

The annual Fall Fair has come back to my town, and I'm going to be spending a good chunk of this week down there playing games and stuffing my face with cheese curds and chili dogs. Because of this, I won't be able to post any geekasm entries this week. But, after the fair leaves town, I'll be back on it.
So, yeah. See you guys next week!

In Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog was introduced into the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. He was said to be created as the Ultimate Life Form. However, at the end of the game, you fight the Biolizard, a giant red lizard which is said to be the prototype of the ultimate life form...
That's always baffled me for some reason. How in the world do you go from giant-ass lizard to small black hedgehog?
    Who cares? Obviously SEGA didn't.
Science had strange ways of working, wouldn't you say?
    BIOLIZARD.

This entry should probably go somewhere like in Sugarcube Corner, but this is a blog about video games, movies, and comics. And, since I'm talking about a flash game, it technically counts.
Anyways, Canterlot Defender is a fan-made Flash game that has been on DeviantART for quite a bit. What you do in the game is pretty strait forward; you're Twilight, and you have to shoot down an infinite army of changelings with her magic. You can only let a certain amount go by before you lose all your hearts. Of course, once you run out of hearts, the game is over. As you play, you have the option to call in one of the five remaining mane six to help you out, each having their own special abilities. If you click the health bar, you'll get a sixth pony to use (Not telling who it is.) But, regardless, you still can only play as Twilight.
Here's the link to the game: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Canterlot-Defender-303305344
Post what you think about the game in the comments!

No. I'm not kidding. Sonic the Hedgehog CAN look good in live action, and the link below proves it.
This is a Sonic the Hedgehog fan film produced by Blue Core Studios. The film has Jaleel White voicing Sonic, though I'm pretty sure Sonic's voicing is just voice takes from White's Sonic voice from the 90's cartoons. It acts as any traditional Sonic the Hedgehog scenario; Robotnik want's to rule the world and Sonic has to stop him. However, Tails isn't by his side in this. In fact, no one is. It's just the blue blur by himself. Anyways, this film came out early this year in January, and it already has 1 million+ views under it's belt. It's that good. I still wouldn't say it's better than the Sonic anime film that came out in 1999, but I still think this was 20 minutes well spent.
    Take a look:

Welcome to my new gaming blog.
The title of the blog pretty much explains what it's for.
Everyday, I'm going to be talking about, giving my opinion, or listening to your opinions on something game related, whether it's a new console, game, or add-on.
    Sheesh, that was a mouthful.
    Anyways, enjoy your stay
