  1. So, I stopped by Toys-R-Us looking for the Collection set with Nightmare Moon, or perhaps the individually sold Trixie and Lyra figures.......but since they weren't up on the website itself, the only way the staff could see if they HAD them was by looking up a six-digit code every item should have. I don't know the codes, and I can't find them! T_T Anyone happen to know the codes, or perhaps know how to find out what they are? That way I can drop by again, and they can check and see if they have any in back! Hooves crossed!
  2. Ah. Yeah, seen those. Sadly, they don't really mesh with my sense of style. ; I'm rather picky about what appeals to me on an artistic level........heck, isn't everybody? My tastes run the entire gambit, and I can usually find something I like in ANY category of genre of artistic expression, but it's still very hit and miss (usually a "miss" when music is involved), and those are a BIG miss for me!
  3. Ball-jointed dolls? What kind? .........toy collector, I mean that in all sincerity. Finding dolls with proper articulation is HARD!
  4. Hey there! I'm an avid toy collector (though thankfully I'm frugal enough not to go overboard), and a thought occurred to me when looking at the new Trixie figure; wouldn't it be AWESOME if she came with a hat and cape!? Sadly, that's not likely to happen, and even if it DID........let's face it, the official "clothes" that come with ponies are just BAD. So........what are we poor Bronies to do? Well, I think we should take a look at another Hasbro property for answers: Transformers. Transformers make up the BULK of my collection (my room is full of HUNDREDS of the suckers!), and several of the pieces in my collection are NOT official Hasbro products! Take THIS for instance: http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-images/toys/Generations2012/Autobots/Optimus/Optimus+Prime+with+Corbot+War+Axe+3.jpg.html That there is the official Optimus Prime figure from the War for Cybertron video game......but the AXE he's holding was manufactured and sold in large quantities by something known as a 3rd party.......a group not affiliated with Hasbro, but releasing merchandise compatible with their products. TECHNICALLY not legal, but there are workarounds......changing names, avoiding pictures of Hasbro products, etc. The folks BUYING the product know what it's for, and even Hasbro might know, but they won't make a fuss about if if it's not costing them any money or infringing on their copyrights right on the box. Why can't someone do something similar for ponies? Imagine being able to buy a Trixie outfit, well made in large quantities, for $15 a pop? Or Perhaps a basket full of zap-apples, or a pair of sunglasses for Rainbow Dash? Or go further: some magical effect pieces to display with your Twilight Sparkle, stickers to place on a pony to alter their eye color or cutie marks, saddlebags full of mail for a Derpy........there are LOTS of options! So........who here thinks this would be a good idea? I don't have the know-how to do something like this, but maybe some other group of enterprising Bronies might? Let's hear your thoughts!
  5. Even though I've been practically STALKING the Hasbro Toy Shop for days now, I didn't make it in time to snatch up one of the left-over Comic Con exclusives! No Bruticus (I'm more a Transformers collector), and worse, no Derpy! T_T That was gonna be my first real plunge into full-sized pony figure collecting! So yeah, anyone know where I can pick one up for something OTHER than an outragious price? I know folks go through a lot of effort to get one of those, so I'd be willing to pay a bit extra if needed. $30 to $35 dollars sounds about fair, right? I know this has probably been asked a million times, but darn it, I WANT MY WALL-EYED PEGUSUS!!!
  6. All VERY good points, and much in line with my own thoughts. A longer name needs to be easy to shorten (like with Twilight Sparkle, who folks can just call "Twilight", or Pinkie Pie, who most just call "Pinkie"), and it's important that it not sound too outlandish or impressive. Especially in my characters case, as he's not loud, brash, or strong.....he's scrawny, kind-hearted, and enjoys peace and quiet. Names with "Storm" in it are far too brash, but "Grey" might be a bit TOO subtle and simple. Finding a balance is HARD! T_T
  7. Well, a SLIGHT difference is hard to avoid. I'll give one a shot though! Thanks all for the info! I'm gonna bring up the site and order my shirt ASAP! XD Brohoof!
  8. HOLY.........O_O that's more t-shirts than I own PERIOD! Wouldn't call it "insecurity" really. More "sensitivity". I'm like that in a lot of ways. For instance, I can't stand the sound of a ticking clock. Whenever I enter a room with one, even a doctor's office or a business room, if there's a clock that tics, I rip that sucker right off the wall and either stuff it in a drawer or just put it in another room. Thankfully, most folks have been pretty understanding of that so far. XD
  9. Thanks! I'll go ahead and give one a shot then. I'm thinking the Doctor Whooves one with the Weeping Pegasi. ( ;
  10. Long story short, I've VERY sensitive when it comes to what I wear. Buying shoes is a NIGHTMARE, because any pressure point or edge on my feet that I can feel drives me bonkers! Basically, if there's a noticeable poke or texture issue on anything I wear, my brain won't stop screaming at me till the offending article is removed. This, sadly, includes t-shirts! I've noticed a few things about t-shirts with printed material on them.......still have no clue how it WORKS, but I can tell what I can and can't wear. T-shirts where the logo or design is sorta stamped on, where if you run your fingers over it you can feel the slight change of texture.....yeah, can't handle those. T-shirts where it almost seems that the image has been DYED on, with texture no different and the cloth no stiffer than the rest of the shirt, THOSE I love and adore. So my question is this: To any of you who have purchased t-shirts from We-Love-Fine, what kind of method do they use? Is it possible to feel the image with your fingers at all? Even the SLIGHTEST texture difference? I'd really like to know if I could wear one before I go spending so much money on a shirt (awesome as it may be!). My poor Green Lantern and Avatar shirts have NEVER been worn because I didn't notice the texture issues before I bought them at hot-topic! T_T Thanks to anyone who can help! Bro-hoof! XD
  11. Brilliant! I'm TOTALLY doing that with mine when I get one. XD But yeah, my main question isn't how to style them to look accurate, but which ones to BUY. There's so many versions! Ponies with pets, ponies with carts, ponies with saddles, ponies with outfits......which actual SET is best to buy for each individual pony? Which releases make the best use of color, mold, and hair? That's the thing I'm wondering. Which specific items I should be pulling off the racks at the toy store. Still, TOTAL brohoof for the link, and the tidbit about the bangs. Thanks!
  12. Now that some of the fan-favorites are starting to show up as full-size brushables, I think I'm ready to dive into these things! XD Problem is, there's just SO MANY OF THEM!!! I'd like to start off with the mane six (of course), but think about it......there's like, 8 different Rainbow Dashes out there! The ones that were on display with Vinyl Scratch, Trixie, and Lyra molds at that toy expo earlier this year looked pretty good, but I don't know if those are already in stores, or to be released later in the year. The important thing I'm looking for is hair that could be easily styled to look show accurate.........though of course accurate paint-jobs are a must too. Since I'm still VERY new to this whole "pony collectors" thing though, I'd really appreciate some advice and where to focus my attention! Again, looking for which versions of the brushable ponies I should be pursuing. Thanks for any advice you Bronies can offer!
  13. Thought of that. For some reason, just doesn't sit well with me. It's a bit TOO bland, oddly enough. I dunno, maybe its just how the words feels rolling off the tongue? It's just........oddly unpleasant. As for crazy long bios......oh, do not get me STARTED on my crazy long bios. I once wrote a bio for a character who's name I NEVER revealed in over half a decade RPing him (sad truth is, I just never was able to come up with one. ), who's motivations I left as a complete mystery, and who's face I never revealed. Yet he was a VERY active part of the RP, heavily involved with all the plot points, interacted with every other character one-on-one at some point or another, and his bio was around three pages long. Three pages.......for a faceless, nameless, unknown enigma. And the scary thing? His bio never revealed ANY of it! All it revealed was what OTHER characters were able to infer from his actions and their interactions with him. Nothing else. ...........yeah, I'm not a bragger, but BIOS are the one thing I trust myself in. I think my favorite instance was after putting up a bio in another RP, one of the other players boggled at the sheer size and detail.........at which point I revealed that this was the SHORT version, and I'd forced myself to cut out large parts of it so that I'd be able to reveal certain aspects of his backstory DURING the RP. I think the poor guy had an aneurysm then and there. XD Still not following. I thought thats what we were trying to do? Sorry, I can be kinda dense at times. ;
  14. Took liberal use of a Thesaurus for that. ; When we settle on something, how about I yank out the list of my past character naming attempts? It's PAINFUL......in the funny way. XD
  15. Whoops. ; Sorry. I figured getting help creating a character FOR joining the RPs would fit into the OOC RP board. My bad. Thanks for taking care of it! I came up with a possible one........"Brainstorm". Not as creative or pretty as the ones suggested though. I'm thinking Silver Lining is still in the lead.
  16. Wow.......people here are SO AWESOME! I can imagine on other forums, a person's response would be all "HEY! What makes that any better than my ideas? You all suck $#%@ you bye." Here, it's all brohooves and support. I think I'm gonna like it here. XD Think I'm gonna keep trying though......someone, when someone says "Hey Silver", all I can think of is the Lone Ranger. .........which I guess IS horse related, but a bit too heroic for the guy. XD It's most certainly my number one fall-back though!
  17. O_O ..............that's............actually really, REALLY good. You MAY have hit it on the head there. So far, that's easily number one on the list!
  18. FLOCCUS POCUS!!!! XD Oh god, I don't know why, but that one puts me in fits of giggles. XD Doesn't fit HIM, but I'll keep it in mind for when I need a good giggle. Thanks! You're pretty good at this. XD Though honestly, ponies don't NEED long names, do they? I could swear most of them were a lot simpler in the show............hmmmmmm...........I'll keep thinking on it.
  19. WOW! You're good at this. XD Those might be a tad too "impressive" for him though. I probably should have mentioned that he's rather scrawny, and more "cute" than "handsome". Flying around on his cloud instead of walking, not to mention spending most of his time indoors or reading.......yeah, he's a twig. Let's see if I can link a pic.......... Here he is!
  20. HA! XD Good ones. XD Yeah, sorry I didn't throw up the bio to begin with. I kinda just woke up, and my brain is still getting into gear. Okay, he's a a pegusus, all in shades of grey; light grey coat, darker grey mane, grey eyes.......even his cutie (a dark grey cloud with a bolt of white lightning) is grey! This might make you think he's a gloomy guy, but while he can be quiet and a bit solitary, he's really not. He's just not a fan of overly bright colors or lots of noise. His favorite days are grey, overcast ones, and while he'll go out on sunny days (HE'S NOT A VAMPONY!!!!), he's not too fond of them. He's actually a very nice and friendly pony.....after all, just because a person enjoys time to themselves doesn't mean they can't be outgoing and friendly when they run into others! He loves clouds, and his house is actually a cloud put together at ground level, kept in place by a grey tarp. He loves to read, and often has his nose stuck in a book someplace. When he goes outside, he usually straddles a bit of cloud, scooting around with his wings. He got the idea when he was young, and a weak flier......clouds float, after all, so if he's on top of one, he wouldn't have to worry about lift! He learned how to fly that way, working on steering and acceleration, which help him build up the muscle needed for lift. He got his cutie mark that day, simbalizing both his affinity and love for clouds and cloudy days, and his talent for getting "bolts" of inspiration. He's VERY smart, though it usually only shows itself in occasional "EUREKA!" moments. Many of his ideas have (such as a charm made of a pegusus feather, supercharged by a Unicorn, that lets Earth Ponies and Unicorns walk on or manipulate clouds with their hooves while wearing it.........a must for when they visit his home, as his floor is made of clouds too). So yeah, short version: Grey pony, loves overcast skies, good with clouds, scoots around on one, friendly and likes to make ponies smile, smart, and his talent is having flashes of insight that can lead to good ideas or deeper understanding of those around him......knowledge which he is more than willing to share with those it might help. NAME AWAY!
  21. We all have our strong suits and our weak ones when it comes to being creative. Me? I'm great at coming up with ideas, fleshing out worlds and characters, and I'm pretty good at writing in general (though I could use a bit of work on proper flow and pacing). In my old roleplays, I was INFAMOUS for my massive character bios. Pages of information, in depth details, but splashed with bits of humor and fun to keep other RPers reading. My greatest weakness, however, is with NAMES. I just can't do them. Since I was a little kid, I've had trouble naming characters, and I certainly haven't improved much since. I could list some of the terrible examples from years past, but trust me when I say you might be better off not knowing. SO! Anyone feel up to helping me on this, the most important naming venture of the past several years? I've spent a bit of time working on my "Ponysona"....but the one thing he still lacks is a NAME! I want to get to work on a proper bio, but I'll need a name to use before I can really get started! If I type out a short, basic description here, think any of you could help me christen the fella with a proper name? Then I can whip out my bio, and dive in headfirst into the world of Pony RPs! XD Who feels up to it? ( ;
  22. Run it through a what with the what now? O_O ...........Did I mention I have NO idea how to use photoshop? ; Seriously thinking of taking a class on it though. Is it worth it?
  23. Nothing too simple. A little grey cloud, with a white bolt of lightning zapping out of the button. He's a Pegasus, very talented with cloud manipulation. The cutie mart represents both his love of and connection to dark, stormy clouds, and the bolt of pure while lightning bursting from the clout represents his special talent......occasionally, he'll be struck by (metaphorical) bolts of inspiration. Like Pinkie Sense, he cant predict when it will happen, or how often. Some days, he'll just be out for a walk, see something that could need help or be improved, and a solution will just hit him!
