So basically I'm attempting to learn how to draw ponies, and I decided to start learning to draw anatomy correctly before I even beginning to find my own "style" or whatnot. I started with the head, but that didn't go so well, because I suck at proportions and I cant play eyes correctly to save my life. Now I've started to draw legs, starting with the forelegs. I've looked up references and how to draw tutorials and everything, but I'm still having trouble on drawing the legs correctly. I draw out the joints and such, and I think I've generally got that down. But when it comes time to draw flesh around the lines I've made, I get stuck, and I cant really get how to do it correctly. Its hard to describe, so I've posted a picture of what I'm basically doing. I don't have a tablet so I just re created it on MS Paint. A bit fatter than I actually drew it, but that's about what I'm doing. Anyways, my question is, What is the best way to improve on what I'm doing and make it more aesthetically pleasing, i.e, less fat, and more slender like in the show? I'm sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense, but I've described my problem the best way that I can. Thanks!

Looks good! I like how her mane is a bit fuzzy looking. The muzzle and right upper arm look a bit off, however. Keep up the good work.

Hello. My name is Paul, and I'm 19. I recently got back into the MLP community after a year or so of relative disinterest. My favorite Pony is Princess Luna, and my favorite of the mane six is Twilight Sparkle. I've been watching the show since episode 13 of season 1, I believe. I really love all the fantastic art, music, writing, etc created by this community, and was recently inspired by pony artwork to start learning to create my own art. I recently moved to the Chicago area from Anchorage, Alaska for college, and since I don't know anyone here, I figured I should meet some fellow bronies. Friendship is magic, after all. Looking forward to meeting you guys!

Thanks guys! Is there a specific method for picking an art style? Or should I just imitate stuff I like, and I'll eventually develop one?

But recently I've come back in to the MLP community after a year or so of absence, and all of the amazing artwork has inspired me to finally start learning. Unfortunately, I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions, ideas, advice, etc? Thanks!
