  1. It's clear to me that ponies can see magical constructs (i vaguely recall an episode where twilight placed a barrier of some sort around the library - others could see it), as for the more subtle form of magic - maybe stuff like levitation are something they are animated with for viewer comfort, indeed.

I dunno. When I watch that scene, I get the exact opposite impression: that they can't see it at all. They walk straight into it, seem confused as to what is happening and Spike has to tell them that Twilight put up a force field.

  2. Very interesting, but maybe not. Maybe Chrysalis avoided to use her magic in public so nopony can see her green aura.

She used her magic right in front of Twilight when she was sampling Applejack's cooking:

and again as she closed the door behind her.

Although she never uses her magic in Celestia or Luna's presence, so in my headcanon, only alicorns are able to see magical auras. I have no real proof of that, though. :)

  3. I've always assumed that they can't see the auras, and it's just only visible to the audience. Otherwise, as stated above, the colour of Fake!Cadance's magic should have been a dead giveaway. It should also be remembered that the magic auras looked very different in Season 1, just being a subtle shiny glow on the object being magicked, and uniformly white.

The fact that we can see Cadance's aura in the flashback doesn't mean Twilight could see it.

  4. Have you noticed how much more traffic the other Fan Clubs have been getting recently? That's thanks to THIS Fan Club thread and all the awesome peeps who post so much Rarity! I'm gonna need another terabyte hard drive for all the Rarity fan art! (And other ponies, of course... but mostly Rarity! :D :D)

  5. These 3 blog entries detail my ruminations about dear Rarity. They will show why hating on Rarity is utterly stupid. Just not liking her, or not relating to her, hey, I understand that. No one says you have to like her as much as I do, but c'mon, none of the Mane Six deserves to be hated.

  6. I must admit I was never interested in the world of forums but decided to give this one a try, haven't regretted it for a second!  :D  Its a lovely fandom to be a part of!

So I guess you're no longer Undecided as to whether you like forums or not? :P

  7. I've seen a total of 44 full episodes; started "Putting Your Hoof Down" and decided to finish it tomorrow.  I went through season 1 in under a week, and it looks as though the same thing is happening with season two. xD  If RD isn't in an episode (or gets a teeny part) I tend to go, "Just one more episode; then I'll stop."  And knowing I had all these episodes / several seasons ahead of me was definitely an incentive to finally get into it.  I've actually watched season 1 twice (once alone and once with my mom).  Will likely do the same with season two if she's still game lol.

I sort of envy you. You get to experience each episode for the first time... enjoy it! :)

  8. This may be off-topic, but I just wanted to show you all this prereleased picture from Fable 5: Twilight Sparkle Saves Albion:

This song reminds me far too much of "This is our big night" from the first movie. Still, the short itself was fun.

  9. Mane Six as Breezies. I know a lot of fans found it a bit too contrived that Twilight happened to know a spell to turn them into Breezies, but damn, aren't they cute?

I don't find it so bad... remember in "Boast Busters", Twilight mentions that she read up on the Ursas because she was intrigued by Trixie's boast? Well, the Breezie migration was a big deal in Ponyville, so she might well have read up on them as well, coming across the spell in the process.  ^_^

  10.

    • I'm sick of people going on about Family Guy, especially the 'Bird is the Word' and 'Grinds my gears' shit.

Yeah, that really... grinds my gears!

Nostalgia Critic has been much better since the retirement and reinstatement.

  11. I've seen it and I love it for the fact that it did what needed to be done for X-men to be put anywhere near the same level as the Marvel cinematic universe is.

It cleaned up the mess it made with X-men 3 where they killed so many characters off that they could not continue and removed X-men origins which was just a bad film.

Movies wise, X-men isn't owned by Marvel at the moment the rights belong to Fox so Marvel can't use any of the X-men or the word "mutants" in there movies.... aside from Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch.

Its so same deal with Spider-man who is owned by Sony

I see, thanks for clearing that up for me! :)

  12. I remember this one from Labyrinth. :)

You ask the red guard if the blue guard would say that the red door leads to freedom. If he says yes, that means the red door leads to certain death. If the red guard is telling the truth, he will say that the liar would say the red door leads to freedom. If the red guard is lying, he will say that the blue guard would say the red door leads to freedom, even though that's not what the blue guard would say since he's the honest one. The same logic can be applied if he says no.

I hope I explained that right  :muffins: But even if I didn't it's the right answer.

The logic is a little tortuous, but yes, that's right. The simpler (to me) version is this:

Go to either guard and ask "If I asked the other guard which door is safe, what would they say?" Then just go through the opposite door to the one they answered. If you picked the liar, he will lie about the truth, and if you picked the truthful guard, he would truthfully tell you the lie the liar would have told. Either way, the answer you get is a lie, so do the other one. Assuming the guards know which one is really the safe door and they weren't told the wrong one by accident!

  13. If feel that Discord had to betray the Mane Six in order to determine what is really important to him. His first reform was always a bit of a sticking point for me. Here,  he actually had to experience the consequences of his actions, in a way that left no room for self-delusion that Fluttershy's approval alone could be enough for him.

If you will, compare it to Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Prince Zuko's initial first turn-around, and his later, true, change of heart.
