I also have another upload now, that shows a different part of the project, but it is really not a part of the game, so it doesn't really belong in this thread ...

I recall something of this happening before. Particularly with Ninja Turtles crossing over into Power Rangers. It sounded cool on paper, but didn't impress anyone. I would not want to see a spin-off of this kind. MLP FiiM is fine the way it is. However, an episode where they go into another dimension in the FiM universe, where they meet themselves but in a vastly different scenario. Like they are all rulers of different nations in Equestria, and they have conflicts with each other. That might be doable...but it's pretty dangerous to do stuff like that. I like the show the way it is.

 

First, the reason why something like TMNT meeting PR would fail, is only a question of one thing:

Quality.

Way to often with such combos, the ones responsible think "The names are enough" and then lets the rest slide.

That's why they fail, not because of the combo itself.

Also, Power Rangers are an officcial and ok'd rip-off of the Japanese Super Sentai: the fight schenes are kept, but the actor scenes are replaced with US actor scenes, often resulting in both a chopped-up storyline, and far worse acting.

 

I think i should have mentioned, that i got the idea of a spin-off being probable from visiting a thread about how a possible "G5" will be, and when it might replace G4.

 

I agree that my suggestion is not very probable, though ....

 

CMC, Daring Doo, Wonder Bolts, or a show focusing on just one of the mane6 or perhaps one of the major side characters.

 

Honestly, they can do what they want as long as they keep up the good quality.

 

These are far more probable spinoffs, i do agree.

So, i was thinking, this might even be the first MLP Generation to manage an actual spin - off series ... or more.

 

But what do others think of this probability, and what whould the think would be probable ... and what could, or would, others like to see as spinoffs?

 

I'd like a kind of dimension-travelling spin-off where some ponies (not Mane 6) ends up in essentially other worlds that Hasbro "owns", so they might encounter Transformers, Jem, and Zoids ..... or even older generations of MLP!

The Pony's look reminds me much of a kind of semi-civilian policeofficer, SWAT, or such ....

The "Smiley" cutiemark makes me think of a "happy" version of The Comedian (Watchmen character).

* Now assuming he migh be some kind of police or such: He's in a mall. Is he there as a police, or as a costumer, or both?

* He's not exactly surprised at when the place suddenly is attacked by mutated pets, what is his first action?

* If someone suggests a certain action during fighting/shooting, what does he do?

Ok, improved Demo is uploaded, it has the same link as the earlier Demo ... There is not much more on the game, yet, though ... but it has the same updates as in the posted youtube-clip ...

You could be surrounded by people you know who all do drugs and think it's entertaining, fun, and that they all care about you. And being at a party does not mean you'll necessarily feel any of those things even among people who consider you their friend.

 

In the end, parties are just like drugs, video games, movies, the internet, and every other form of entertainment - they're there for you to escape reality and you can get addicted to them. Maybe not a physical addiction, but definitely a mental one.

I'd honestly like to see the staff of MLP make cameo appearances. (We already have Sibsy putting her OC into the show) Like Lauren Faust voicing a character would be mind blowing.

 

Or maybe even I'd like to see a Brony Celebrity such as Mic the Microphone, Dustykatt, or someone similar to do a guest voice.

well isn't it kind of? You're suggesting if people provide us with enough pure fun entertainment we'll eventually just forget about the more shameful methods people use to feel good about themselves. One could argue you're just exchanging one addiction for another really lol.

On the contrary. ... and still not.

Drugs and alcohol are all about escaping, ignoring the real world, often due to the world feeling way too harsh.

However, they lack something important, that one only gains through truly being entertained, having fun, and feeling that someone truly cares.

 

Lacking being entertained, having fun, and feeling that someone truly cares, result in the use of drugs and alcohol to gain that feeling .... but it is never truly satisfied, and this is also part of the addiction-problems.

However, with Pinkie around, you'd probably not need any kinds of drugs or such, at all, because she contribues with something you need, to begin with.

 

If you need something, you seek ways to get it, it is not wierder than trying to breathe when you are suffocating.

However, where drugs, alcohol and such, may be compared to thick smoke, even poisonus, there Pinkie Pie is fresh and clear air, or even oxygen.

What you list is rather their different personalities, not any "beauty-variants".

Sure, personalities can be pleasant, but they are not beauty.

If one defines several kinds of beauty, you'd probably find that there are way more than six.

Personally, i define cute as cute, not as beauty.

What pony crossover is the best? (almost) all of them! Although IMO, with ponies a true crossover is whatever you're crossovering with has to be ponified, characters from the other show/game/movie/etc... just meeting ponies is not enough.

 

To me, there are two distinct kinds of crossovers, that also may be combined:

* Regular Crossover, or "meeting" crossover.

* Mix Crossover, or just Mix.

 

You are clearly talking about the "Mix" variant.

As far as I am concerned, I have more experience in making games with gamemaker and more experience with Warhammer 40k. You also came here looking for help. All those things point to the fact that you should listen to what I have to say rather then just say that I am not reading your post.

I'm from Sweden, English is not my first language, even though i'm good enough to give that impression, frequently, but obviously not always.

 

I may seem childish, but i'm no child, i was just past my teens or a bit more, when i first found, and bought, first the original Space Hulk, followed by the Deatwing and Genestealer supplements, and later The original Warhammer 40.000 - Rogue Trader, in a semi-obscure importer/retailer.

Do the Maths yourself on my possible age from that.

 

As for Twilight, i think she is far more of an inquisitive nature than a librarian, and if you allow a cheap joke: Librarian? Usually, someone else has to find the books for her!

She is also better at organizing other things than books ...

 

Where the WH40K-influence stops .... ok, i admit error on my part there.

However, if i could have explained it better sooner, i might have done it ... or perhaps i could, but did not think it was neccesary.

So, as said, my mistake.

 

I agree, you probably do have more experience than me at both GameMaker and at playing WH40K.

However, after me clearifying where the WH40K-influence ends, perhaps we can discuss better on different solutions and suggestions?

So, where do the WH40K influence end?

The answer to that is hard to describe, but i'll try:

On Marines/Ponies -

Power Armor and Tacnaut(Terminator)Armor exist,

Unicorns are more common than Librarians, so each squad may easily have one or more, but, as in the old SH-Genestealer-supplement, far from all are "high powered", and several even choose to lessen their magical capability by putting a Chainhorn on their horn.

Inquisitors .. i might dub them "Inquirers" instead .... are rare, and may be of two kinds: Celestia's Favored Agents, or Military ponies that has shown a clear affinity for Investigations.

The "Chapters", whatever they may end up being called, are even more different form eachothers than the WH40K chapters, and even though some names are similar but "ponyfied", they might be a bit different from their WH-equivalents.

 

The possible opponents has turned into mixes of beings form both worlds, at least that is the case with the Genesprites and the Dorgs ...

 

Any more unclarities, just ask.

I discontinued that PM chain because you only bashed my opinions and found flaws on how I'm doing things "wrong" when it came to your game after you asked my advice on what I assumed was 40K.

Added to the fact that I never fully understood what it was about or how it was supposed to work in the first place.

I won't be as picky as i occasionally am right now, partially because i currently feel better than usual.

From my wiewpoint, you bashed my opinions .... so i'm ok with a second try.

I know, and i see it clearer now (also perhaps because i'm in a better mood than usual), that the WH40K influences i'm looking for, at least for the Game part, may be defined as very superficial, at least by some (including you).

My defence there, though, is still that the rigid canon for WH40K that you refer to, must be broken down, or even dissolved, to fit into MLP: FiM concept, Equestria, and especially the whole "friendship is magic" thing.

I admit, though, i'd be totally unable to make a game based on the current definition of WH40K, because i truly dislike that world and i am not very fond of the game, either.

But just with small changes, i'd like it, because there are, and there used to be, so much to like about it.

Heck, i even like the Chaos Daemons, despite me saying "no warp and no chaos" for this game.

And if you say so, ok, but the clearly WH40K-style Power Armor adaptions were the basically main reasons for this game to begin with, lest i might not even have started on it..

Those armors are, by the way, one of the things i (almost?) adore in WH40K.

 

I have no problems crediting the armors based on WH40K, and i have no intention in monetizing it.

If you look at the video i have made on some of what i have thus far, and then look at the descripion of it on youtube, i credits Hasbro and GW for influences, and notes that it is intended to be freeware.

I find it odd that i have gotten more help in an FiM-off topic on a site that is otherwise dedicated to Miniature Wargames ... including Warhammer 40.000.

.. and even more help from people on an avatar-site unaligned to either!

 

I have gotten the storyline planned now ... or at least for the first game of this kind ... but sadly no thanks to the current other two big posters here, though they did some little help, but far from as much as they probably thought they could and would.

Sure, they tried, but there is a distinct difference between helping and saying "you must do it this way".

 

I've started a highly arbitrary countdown now, if i haven't gotten anything that i deem would be helpful enough by then, from this thread, then i'll ask a mod to close it.

But, you questioned me, so i doublechecked.

So, i recon you think the beginner two-parter isn't in-depth, but i think it is enough in-depth.

That has to be where it is, because the story has frequently been defined as "not very good for shoving non-bronies".

 

Have you thought of the fact, that the episodes suggested are either very recent, or the same ones that is recommended to non-bronies?

 

Now, when i think of it, i agree that "in-depth" may be important for the one you want to show it to, and if one wants to show indepth during one episode only, i think "at the gala/best night ever" really presses the characters to their current max.

However, it really isn't fair to Fluttershy, but the very same reason would then disqualify "Lesson zero", for giving a way too "active" impression of her.

 

The only occasions that one really gets a fair representation of all Mane 6, is in the two-parters, i'd guess ... at least for starters.

Why has noone suggested the first double-episode yet?
