Wait, I get the feeling that by aura, you mean the glow of a unicorn horn when it's performing magic. If this is the case, I'm sorry for being so dense. >.<

"Wait, so we'll get the aura of the assistant, but not the teacher?" Sigma asked. "All right, now we just need someone who knows magic to systematically check everypony's aura." Sigma looked around, not sure if anyone in the room besides the pegasus was a likely contender. Wishfully, he walked over to the clue sheet from earlier, attempted the spell, but only let out a few sparks, just as foals with no grasp on magic tend to do. Sigma let out a sigh. "It's impossible." he thought to himself. Though... "Say, does building a magical contraption require horn magic, or can the magic be found from a different source?" he asked the pegasus who was giving out clues.

"Well, I'm out of ideas." Sigma thought to himself. He could possibly try something involving hoofwriting, but it's very unlikely that such a thing would work since the teacher could disguise her handwriting if the tests weren't done anonymously, which would be difficult to pull off. Besides, Sigma was pretty sure it took a professional to judge such a thing. "Are there any unicorns in the room besides myself?" he called out to the class.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm waiting on Little Red.

I think it has something to do with my two day long hiatus. You introduced yourself and gave your suggestions during that time, and when I got back, I had a lot to catch up on, so I accidentally skipped over the things you said. I don't know, but regardless of whether or not it was due to my hiatus, all the things I'm skipping over are by accident. I'm sorry. Also, what happened to @@Little Red?

@ "Don't worry about it." Sigma said before flopping on to the back of his chair and casually changing the subject. "All this work has been done, and I haven't asked a single pony for their name yet." the white unicorn noted before questioning why he made that observation. "I'm not sure what to make of that..."

@@MoltenKitten, Sigma turned to the uneasy mare he had just met out in the hall way. "You should come inside and take a seat." he said. "As soon as a certain mare is ready, we're going to take class attendance and see if we can deduce who the teacher is." Sigma then walked back in to the classroom and purposefully took a seat at a desk right next to the stallion who picked the lock to the door. "I don't get what his deal is." Sigma thought as he looked at him. "At first, he came off as a jerk who could care less if the world ended tomorrow, but then he professed respect to ponies he had insulted earlier, picked the lock, and even reassured me over my inability to perform magic." Sigma tried in vain to put the pieces together in his head, unaware that he was inquisitively staring at the stallion.

When I said 'use', I meant it in a sense that we can cast an aura spell on it and use that to find the teacher.

I was referring to that thing Aurora was talking to; the thing she asked Sigma to cast a spell on. I think Sparky was its name.

Maybe the teacher can have an aura detector amongst a pile of other magical items. Finding such a thing by testing the function of every single item would be interesting to say the least.

"We have an attendance list that we can use to deduce who the teacher is, and if that doesn't work, we have a magical contraption named Sparky that we can cast a spell on to detect her aura, assuming we can find a unicorn to do the job. As for books, you may want to check the school's library once class is over."

"Hmm..." Sigma thought for a moment. "I think I figured it out." "That changeling invasion during Princess Cadance's wedding has given you paranoia, hasn't it?" The stallion guessed. "Please be rest assured that Queen Chrysalis's forces have been scattered by Prince Armor's force field spell. It will take quite some time for them to regroup and form a new plan, and even then, now that their love-draining schemes have been figured out, it's unlikely that they will pose any threat to Equestria, so please don't worry about them."

"The teacher set up a challenge for us: whoever finds her amongst the students gets extra credit. The students in the class managed to acquire an attendance sheet, so assuming nopony's absent or illegitimately in the classroom, we should be able to figure out who the teacher is through process of elimination. May you please come in and take a seat so we can check you off the list?"

I don't know, I remember Chrysalis blasting Celestia with a ray of magic similar to her own during the Canterlot wedding.

I was thinking about getting a unicorn from a nearby classroom. Though, the newest edition to the class might be a unicorn; I'm not sure. Update: the newest edition seems to be a changeling. Changelings can perform unicorn magic, right?

Lektra can possibly cast a fraudulent version of the spell, framing another student as the teacher. Though, I'd imagine that such a shenanigan wouldn't last for very long.

@@bronislav84, Aurora's character would be pretty angry if her plan was ignored for a plan that ended up being a bust that caused everyone to fail the test. I'd say we go for the extension, especially considering that only several minutes has passed in the roleplay's time. Also, my plan was for a roll call to never ensue due to the initial name-to-student count being off, so the teacher wouldn't even have to try to pretend.

Probably not. From what I remember, one of the students in the classroom cannot move, speak, or do anything because the person playing as her has real life business to attend to, so she wouldn't be able to say she's present in a roll call. We can circumvent this by staying the number of students is inconsistent with the number of names, meaning that a roll call would be useless.

@@Little Red Sigma overheard the commotion from the other room, and decided to call out to the eccentric mare. "Be sure you count the number of students on the list, and the number of students in the room before you start calling names!" Sigma yelled. "For this plan to work perfectly, there needs to be one extra student in the room compared to the list! If there's less, then someone's absent, and the plan won't work because then the teacher can impersonate one of the absent students! If there's more, then we can narrow down the possible students, but not pinpoint the teacher completely, not to mention that it would raise the question of why there's more than one extra student in our class!" @@Midnight_Aurora @@MoltenKitten Sigma, deciding that he should try to stay proactive until the teacher is found, walked up to the classroom door and poked his head out. He started by addressing the pegasus who gave him advice earlier. "I-its not that I didn't want your help." Sigma stated shakily, knowing that he must've done something wrong if the mare was sitting outside the classroom with an upset look on her face. "I was completely open to your plan, it's just that I'm not capable of carrying it out." The white unicorn looked off to the side; consciously trying to stop his ears from drooping. "An attendance list was found, but there's still a good chance that the plan won't work since it relies on every student being present and not absent. If it does turn out that a student's absent, then your plan will be the most reliable one at our disposal. The spell can be carried out by someone more competent than me, and the teacher will be found that way. However," The stallion said. "a lot of effort has already been invested in the attendance list idea. We need to go through with it before deciding whether or not it's a bust. I implore you to walk back in to the classroom so we can take attendance." Sigma then turned to the student he had never seen before. "Who are you? Are you in this class?"
