Not going to lie, when I first read the title, I chuckled a little, but it seems to be working. Quite well, I may add. If that's what keeps the forum balanced, I'm all for it! xD

I actually felt guilty the moment I posted this topic. Its meant for fanfic research and never thought it would ever be applied as an idea for an episode.

 

Hypothetically, if somehow it was used as an idea for an episode, the concept would be cruel for both characters in different ways. Fans that are sympathetic for Spike will feel really bad while Rarity will appear almost like a villain, not deemed to be a good role model for little girls.

 

The show itself has a "feels good" aura and something like this is as inappropriate as one the characters suddenly shouting profanities on screen. The writers have developed Spike and Rarity to become closer than ever this season. They even made it look like she cares about him more than Twilight does. Its canon that he is her little Spikey-Wikey just as much as she is his Lady Rarity. The way she cares about him, I don't think she could really break his heart without breaking her own heart in the process for causing the little guy pain.

 

... It doesn't negate the fact that Rarity was still portrayed as manipulative towards other characters in the series. I hope they change that about her, though.

 

No need to feel guilty about it, I was speaking hypothetically. However you do bring up some good points, since were on the topic, I propose a friendly debate?

That's the funny thing about FIM, they can take some pretty serious topics, and still make it enjoyable to watch. I see how you can consider it a "cruel" topic, but Isn't this show more or less about going through life experiences, and dealing with hardships? Being a little bias here, but even the best role models can be improved upon, and an episode like this would be great for character development for both Rarity and Spike, as well as showing that whole "Being manipulative is wrong" sort of theme that is portrayed in Rarity.

Yes this season really has shown both Rarity and Spike getting quite closer, which is why it would undoubtedly be important for Rarity to go to spike, and tell how much she really does care for him. It is of equal importance however, to show how she is over doing the whole "Do things for me" sort of mindset. The way I see, Rarity is portrayed very smart, and elegant she would find a way to let him off easy, and have a mutual decision in the end.

Yes, it would be a very different episode, and possibly would leave fans disappointed with the episode overall. Once again, being bias, I believe it is important to have a good story line, and character development, as well as funny and simply entertaining episodes. FIM has a great foundation to balance that out. Just look at the "Hurricane Fluttershy", that was all about character development for Fluttershy, and fans loved that. Admittedly, this would sort of episode would be a bit more harsh, but never the less, it's a part of life that I believe would be important to show.

I hardly ever use chat simply for the reason that it had no organization what so ever, you can never talk about one topic, etc. I basically disregarded this part of the forum for that very reason. SynchTube is a much better option for chats of this nature because you are for the most part talking about one specific thing. In fact, the only reason I clicked on chat was because I saw statuses on it. Sorry to be blunt, but I feel very strongly about this.

Personally, I believe this would be a good episode to have. It would show how to handle with heart break, and the message with can be something along the lines of "manipulation is wrong". It can end with Rarity apologizing to spike and they are friends again.

It would also be a huge character development episode, Rarity is known for being minipulitive throughout the series, one of the shows downfall for the "target age group" of smaller children imo. The creators show that she does this, however never follow up that its technically the wrong thing to do. This post is open for discussion, I would love to hear everyponys thoughts!

There were so many moments throughout the show that just made me melt. However the one that stands out in my mind has to be in "Sonic Rainboom" when Rainbow dash finally preforms a sonic rainboom correctly and Fluttershy flipped out! That literally had me in tears. :')

Wow that's a hard one, they were all really good. I would have to say my favorite was MMMystery because it had the plot that kept you on your feet until the very end. I'm a sucker for anything suspenseful/ mystery genre, and this episode without a doubt took the cake (pun intended xD). Not to mention all the references they put in the episode made it simply perfect!

I would boycott McDonald's for that, but there too freaking good :/

 

It wasn't fair that they left AJ out from helping to commit a crime, though.

Visually; Vinyl is one of my favorites, however she is outrageously overrated. She is in the frame for MAYBE 5 seconds the entire show, and everypony is going about her as if she is a legitiment background character. Fan art, I see nothing wrong with because she is visually appealing. Never the less, I would love to see more of her! xP

Next up, my underrated, Discord. Ahhh Discord, I could talk about just how underrated this character is for hours, but ill keep it short and sweet. First of all, seeing another Discord episode would make my alter ego pony life complete! The 2 part episode was nothing short of fantastic filled with plot twists, and just plain greatness. The overall plot, riddles, tricks etc. make the episode give off a feeling I have yet to comprehend. I would not expect an episode like this from a show like My Little Pony! x3

In conclusion,

Underrated: Discord

Overrated: Vinyl Scratch

Of course, I was wrong. (Along with everypony else in the Synchtube room.) That was a good thing though. It made the surprise at the end even more surprising.

Loved this episode. Probably the most well put together episode in a while IMO. As they did last week, the creators took an unoriginal plot (not saying it's a bad thing, just stating a fact), and made it their own in an enteraining fashion. Also loved all the references involved, made the episode overall so much better! On a side note we can officially add "Pegisistance" to our Pony vocabulary! xD

I personally think parkour would suit Rainbow quite well. It's no secret that Rainbow is tomboy so I couldn't see her following a dance with others. I couldn't see her running either because it's not as "Adventurous" as she would want. Maybe gymnastics could work too. Basically, any sport she can compete in she would try to one up everyone else.

Popularity has nothing to do with whether or not something is overrated. Think about it.

• Seat belts are popular. Does this mean that seat belts are overrated?
• Shoes are popular. Does this mean that shoes are overrated?
• Jumping off cliffs without any form of recovery is unpopular. Does that mean that it is underrated?

Don't get me wrong, I love MLP, but I completely agree with this topic. The reason it's so big in our minds is because of the Brony community. For example, if you are joining a club where you (metaphorically speaking) know everyone, the club will seem much more worth while then being in a club where you don't know anyone. MLP undoubtedly wouldn't be as good without watching an episode, and then discussing what it means/represents with people who have the same interests. If you were the only person you knew who watched the show we would probably end up dropping the show altogether after a few weeks because you would have nobody to confine with that your watching a cartoon about ponys. Unless of course you knew people IRL who watched MLP, but that just comes back to the my point about having a group to talk about it with.

I don't know any and don't plan on using any, because no offense, but I doubt they would work

They can really range from a direct quote of the show, to some sort of pun even remotely connected to MLP. Have fun!
